Another Detroit Tiger Meltdown???...........

this year it's "all or nothing" (the WILDCARD is NOT available), but the antagonist is still the same....MINNESOTA TWINS. The last time these teams went at each for the Central Division title, the Tigers also held the lead. The Tiger pitching fell apart, allowing the Twins to garner the Central Division, while Detroit settled for the Wildcard. But this time around, its all or nothing. Sad, but true.

It appears like the Twins have hit their peak, while the Tigers are 'treading' water. Granted, they are missing the BIG Justin Morneau bat, but others are stepping up. They definitely aren't playing like a 74-win team, trailing Detroit by a mere 4-games.

The usually dependable Tiger hurler, Justin Verlander--once a strong candidate for the Cy Young--has suddenly become average. Ditto for #2 starter, Ed. Jackson. The rookie Porcello is simply a 'rookie' to tough times....QUESTIONABLE! And Washburn hasn't delivered when needed, unlike his performance with the Seattle Mariners. Pressure, maybe?

Let's hope the Tigers right-the-ship in time to avoid another 2006.

Trading for Washburn was a BIG mistake. He has never been a big game pitcher. Needs a nice no pressure type situation in order to thrive. Verlander is the money guy on that staff.

The rest of the pitching staff, Porcello, Jackson and Gallaraga (sp) are good, but still inexperienced in pennant races. Jackson has a little under the cap, but it looks like he is runing out of steam down the stretch. Possibly because he's never gone this many innings in before (in the majors)

They went after the wrong pitcher. Imagine if they'd have given PEDRO a call??

I live a few miles north of Detroit, and I couldn't name a current member of the Tigers if my life depended on it.

I knew, or at least 'felt', that he wouldn't work out. He never impressed me as a 'stopper-like' pitcher. In fact there were several so-called contenders seriously thinking about signing this guy. So far he has been NO help for Detroit. Hell, even the Yankees expressed interest (shades of Carl Pavano). The Tigers better get its act together, or they will experience another '2006'....by the same team. The Phillies are going to get the last laugh regarding Pedro. They are set to win it all!

I got tickets for the Tigers-White Sox game on 9/25 in Chicago, I definitely hope the Tigers bring their A-game.

Haters will always bring national hate. We need 2 Wins against the Twins and we will have it on Lock.

I spoke about this possibility last month, not in hopes that it would NOT reach fruition. But things are looking a little 'dim' for the home team.

Owner,Mke Illich deserves more. The entire Tiger team deserve more. Hell, the City of Detroit deserves more for providing so much fan support, along with a little blood, sweat, and tears.

Teh team picked a helluva time to experience a slump, added with poor pitching. After Justin Verlander pitches, it's time to cross your fingers and start praying. Porchello might come through, eventhough he's a rookie. Ed Jackson was solid earlier in the season, but is questionable, at best. Thankfully, Rodney's in the bullpen.

So the best chance will occur Sunday afternoon, when Verlander takes the mound. He won't get the Cy Young this season, but his K's (264) leads MLB right now. If he's sharp, tomorrow will see him add 8-10 more K's to that total. Never the less, Sunday's game will determine which team moves on to post-season activity.

Let's hope it's not another Tiger meltdown.

Tiebreaker Tuesday...Time for Detroit to step up...The game is in Minnesota so they have loots of pressure to win in front of what will be a raucous crowd...

Who will the Tigers put up to start? Verlander off of two days rest?

Manager Jim Leyland was asked that very question last week, and stated that he would not hesitate to start the rookie, Rich Porcello. Verlander's definitely out.A pitcher with only 2-days rest would be eaten alive by the twins! Porcello is capable.

Ed Jackson would be a 'long shot'. Robertson is OUT!

Yeah it looks like they're gonna start the rookie...he'll need a god first few innings to get the crowd off of the game. Then the run support can follow...

:lol: you call him Ed Jackson too! hahaha!
