Some people who don't follow the Eagles diligently will not understand this so I will try to break this down.
Even with McNabb, Vick, Kolb....hell, even w/ Joe Montanna, Dan Marino, or Steve Young the EAGLES ARE NOT A SUPER BOWL CONTENDER this year. It was never intended for the Eagles to be a Superbowl contender this year. I know that. Most Eagles and NFL fans know this. The Eagles brass knows this. If the Eagles truly believed they could contend for a championship this year, they would have never traded McNabb and given the job to an inexperienced Kevin Kolb.
THIS IS A REBUILDING year for the Eagles. With the McNabb, Dawkins, Westbrook era now over, this season is all about evaluating and building a new YOUNG talent core for this team. Right now the average age of the Eagles is 25 yrs old. This season is all about evaluating Kevin Kolb and seeing if he is a QB you can build a franchise around. The Eagles or their fans dont know if Kolb is that guy...but Andy Reid is going to give Kolb every chance so Reid knows for sure if Kolb is that guy.
Vick played well yesterday but Vick isn't in the Eagles future plans. After this season, Vick is out of Philly. Even if it means taking "L's", its more important for the Eagles to play Kolb and learn if he is the real thing rather then playing Vick, who is not in the teams long term plans.
As a fan, I understand this but I don't agree with this. But its is what the Eagles are doing. That said, I don't expect the Eagles to be over .500 this year.
