Andre 3000: No Outkast Reunion, New Solo album possible for 2012 {GQ}

Has he outgrown Outcast creatively or is there beef with Big Boi ?

I don't think it's either. It just seems like Andre just doesn't feel inspired enough to hit the studio hard for a few weeks and crank out an album.

He knows that he should drop a solo album and then do the Outkast album. That's been the plan for years - they were supposed to do the Idlewild movie, drop the soundtrack for that, then drop their individual albums and then make the Outkast record. The whole process comes to a halt because Andre ain't hitting the studio. He's seems like he has so many other things going that he's not willing to take a month off and lock himself, Big and ONP in the dungeon and make an album like they used to do.

Even in this interview, he's like "the music's coming, but I don't know when..."

Hopefully we get an adult album from Andre. He can satisfy his core fans with that outkast gangsta pimp talk. Well dressed brothas win again

It's the creative thing. He and Big Boi are still friends. I know someone in the camp who told me this info last week.

add label politics to the situation and its not as easy as one would seem. expectations are too high honestly. I would rather they bow out on top than come back and release some bullshit to hurt their legacy. I can only think of a handful of duos that dropped 3 certified classics in a row.

Considering Big Boi is doing good on his solo projects and bringing up other artists, an Outkast album would only HELP Andre. I think they need to get off of their bullshit and work things out.

I'd rather have no OutKast album for a few years than have a rushed album out now that ruins their streak of dope albums.

And I always figured he was saying "court", not "Cole". Glad we got that clarified in print.

I cant believe how many people hating like dude said he 36 he not feeling doing an album for real. He even laughing at these other niggas. Like you paying me to send in practice raps. He in a different lane and whole zone. He rich and chillin clearly.

Hate to hear that about a new "Kast album, I have been waiting for a new one since back when Big Boi first was promoting "Sir Lucious Left Foot". Look how long it took for that to drop, two or so years after the first single with Mary J. drop and it didn't even make the album. Hopefully the process they said back then is still in play. If Dre drops the album this year like he says then maybe there is still hope for a new one.

Like another poster said, I think it is about creativity and inspiration when it comes to dropping tracks or albums for 3000. I believe he is the type of artist that the music has to come to him, meaning I don't think he can just go to the studio, sit down, hear the beat and just drop whatever he can think of. I think it just has to flow out of him, if that makes sense.

I too thought 3000 was saying "Hollywood Cole".

The Brooklyn Circus has a similar style to this. I'd rock the cardigan the first cat is wearing and that sweater the last dude is rocking. Not a fan of the knickers though.

Big Boi's album was solid.

Indeed and I keep it in the car. Makes my woofer happy.

Im a Big Boi and Dr 3000 fan forever..if they never come out with another albums Ill still pump their old albums just like I do for Tribe Called Quest..De La..UGK...etc...good music never gets old..

I'm saying...and this is what I want some of the youngers to learn. I can pull Southernplayalistic out and bang it like it just dropped and then probably be inclined to play my entire collection of Organized Noize stuff. It sounded good riding or when chilling at the crib.

I'd rather have no OutKast album for a few years than have a rushed album out now that ruins their streak of dope albums.

That's what I liked about Outkast. They would drop every two years, but you can tell it wasn't rushed and you heard growth at the same time. I"m glad they aren't out here mix taping themselves to death.

Right...and at 36 I would feel the same way. He said he's just being creative. As an artist myself, I understand where he is coming from. You just do whatever you feel like doing. I'm sure he can link up with the Dungeon Family anytime he pleases. Until then, let him live...still ain't buying no Bixby shit if I can't rock it and not feel like:

That's that quality shit better than the white t and timbs look.

Yeah cause every dude who doesnt like that look automatically wears Timbs and T shirts. Get off that stereotype shit.

Everytime I see you post something on here its on some self hating angle. Like in order to make yourself look better, you insert black stereotype and make it sound as if youre the antithesis of it. All BS aside, his coats and sweaters look good. But you and I both know youre not walking around in a set of Knickers, stop with the fronting.:hmm:

GQ: Like the last track, "A Life in the Day of Benjamin André (Incomplete)."
Andre 3000: Exactly! We were up like three days straight drinking Red Bull or whatever, finishing that album. I just knew I wanted to put that on there, but it wasn't done, but it was enough.

They want to do an album together, Big Boi talked about this in a recent interview, but the labels are stopping them from collabing.

When Big Boi was dropping his album in the past, the label I think that carried Outkast didnt want the solo album, said it would flop, so Big Boi went to another label for the solo/solo's.

Then when they want to come back together, the label is preventing him from doing anything together with Andre. It's political BS that is stopping them artistically from what I read. I think they will do something soon but don't want to or can't speak on it from what Big Boi said...

The label is preventing them from creating a cd..... And Andre is using the excuse of not feeling it, cause he can't say "these bitches won't let us work together".... I'm assuming that they can't do anything til their contract expires, or they resign their souls to the record labels, who are probably going to say "they need 3 more cd's from them in 3 years with some fucked up controlling contract shit..." and andre is comfortable with not selling his soul to the record companies again for cd's he doesn't need to make.

I just pray Andre don't go the Chris tucker route.....fuck around on all the money u could be getting, then when u need it, it ain't there anymore for the grabbing.....

I know money isn't everything, but fuck a legacy, if I had the opportunity to make enough money so my kids kids don't have to work, fuck it,I'd think about my family first, fuck a legacy, imma flip these CDs

If you listen closely to his lyrics, you can tell that is highly likely he will not go the Chris Tucker route. He consistently discusses legacy and financial responsibility.

Them clothes:smh:
I rather her a Outkast album than a solo.
Side note: I playing that song "I've been looking for you" the unreleased Outkast track and The I do verse comes on with the same beat  Didn't know that verse was almost 2yrs old.

The attire is extremely on time. Reminds me of the Harlem Renaissance era.
