Last Saturday at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs) earned his sixth straight win by surviving a very dangerous tenth round to win a twelve round unanimous decision over Marcos Maidana. Khan's run includes four knockouts, and the recent win over Maidana is the third defense of the crown that he won by dethroning Ukrainian Andriy Kotelnik by unanimous decision in July 2009.

Khan's short term goal is to fight the winner of the January 29, junior welterweight classic, between WBO king Tim Bradley (26-0, 11 KOs) and WBC titlist Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs), to be contested at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Mich.

According to Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, Khan is expected to return on an April date in England. Several opponents have been discussed, including Zab Judah and Breidis Prescott. Following the April fight, Schaefer wants to bring Khan back to the United States in July, and the Bradley-Alexander winner is the prefered opponent for that date.

"I would like to fight the winner of Alexander-Bradley. That would make me the unified champion," said Khan to FanHouse. "And then I'll probably move up to [welterweight] 147 pounds, because I've got a big frame and there are some big names up there for me."

You gotta admire this dude. No ducking, he wants to fight the best.

He's improving too.

Roach is a legendary trainer. Khan's footwork got ten times better after teaming up with the guy.

Yeah, Roach is doing something right. However, Khan's footwork could be better. He seems to almost trip over himself when he is on the move and the stands to straight up at times. Otherwise, it is clear that he has gotten better since training with Roach and won't be easy to beat. Roach may need to get an apprentice soon if he doesn't have one because his speech is really fading.

Tim Bradley: Amir Khan Better Not Fade Against Me!

By Lem Satterfield

On January 29 at the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan, WBO junior welterweight king, Tim Bradley (26-0, 11 knockouts), of Palm Springs, Calif., and, WBC titlist, Devon Alexander (21-0, 13 KOs), of St. Louis, Mo., are headed for an HBO televised clash that will go a long way toward determining which of them should be considered the best fighter in their division.

Bradley was on hand last Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, where he watched his WBA counterpart from England, Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KOs), retain his title with a twelve round unanimous decision over interim titlist Marcos Maidana (29-2, 27 KOs) of Argentina. After watching Khan's fight, Bradley believes Khan fades in the later rounds when constant pressure is applied.

"We are both quick. He's a little bit rangier than I am, so I would have to apply the pressure. It would be a great couple of rounds, but like I've seen today - he fades. When you get in the ring with me, do not fade because I come on strong at the end. I come on strong at the end. When he faces me, he better not fade," Bradley told FanHouse.

Bradley needs to sit down and worry about Alexander's awkward southpaw style and not Amir Khan fading down the stretch against a brick handed Argentinian - with his feather fisted ass.

Bradley is feeling himself too much and Alexander isn't just some bullshit fighter to be looking passed which is the perfect recipe to get knocked out.

Very true. I mean Alexander wasn't impressive at all in his last fight but you can chalk that up to the style match up. Alexander has a style to give Bradley trouble all night with that long ass jab. Tim better not be looking past Devon to the big money fights, like you said, that's a recipe for a ko - or at least an embarrassing loss. And then he can kiss those money fights down the drain. He'll find himself fighting Zab Judah at the Mohegan Sun in a non-televised fight.

Neither one looked good in their last fights, but I guess Bradley could say he was ready for welter. Some times niggas just have off nights where there shit isn't coming together, but I think these niggas need to tighten up quickly cause it's not always going to be a fighter that can be beaten on auto-pilot.

Yup, and with the comp at 140, neither of them is going to have any more of those easy "tune up" fights. If either one of them have off nights against Khan or Maidana, it's a wrap.

Timothy Bradley has told Barkery Jammeh of The Main Event radio show that he is willing to travel to the UK for a potential light-welterweight unification blockbuster with WBA boss Amir Khan. ‘Desert Storm’ takes on Devon Alexander for the WBC and WBO titles next month. Bizarrely, the WBC title will become vacant should Bradley win yet there would still be the possibility of a WBA and WBO unification battle down the line.

“Once I get through Devon, then I will think about Khan, but I think he may have other fighters in mind for his next fight. I don’t mind traveling to the UK, I have done it before against Junior Witter [when wining the WBC title in 2008] and I am used to it,” revealed the 26-0 (11) fighter when speaking to The Main Event.

Indeed, Bradley feels that the unification fight against Alexander was rushed and that the unification fight should have been delayed so that both fighters could earn more money from the contest.

He added: “I was kinda like force into this fight. I didn’t realty want this fight. My promoters were like, ‘You wanna fight Devon?’, and I was like, ‘It’s still too soon’. Let’s fight other fighters and let the fight build, then we can make even more money.”

Bradley fought at 147lb in his last contest, a points win over previously undefeated Luis Carlos Abregu; however, the contest with Alexander will help to clear the 140lb waters, especially if Khan takes on the winner. Tim may yet get the big money fight that he so clearly craves should he win his next contest.

Bad attitude to have going into a fight with a dude as dangerous as alexander. I think Bradley is overrating himself and his value. I mean fuck, if it's a great fight, a barn burner - people will want to see it again. and then you can MAKE MORE MONEY. Neither Bradley nor alexander looked good in their last fight, they both better be sharp as fuck on that night if either one of them has plans on becoming a bona fide star.

WBC junior welterweight champion Devon Alexander is not going to overhype his upcoming unification with Timothy Bradley, the champion of the WBO. They unify the belts on January 29. Alexander is treating the match as just another fight.

"He could think I'm stupid but this is just a normal fight for me. It's good for my career. His skill level, I saw it before and there is nothing special about it. I'm looking at it as a regular fight for me," Alexander said.

During their press tour to promote the fights, things got very heated between the two fighters and words were exchanged. Alexander says Bradley is under a lot of pressure and starting to crack.

"He's trying, in his head, to get amped up. He's trying to find something to beat me. He knows that I'm too fast for him. He knows that I'm going to be too slick for him. He's just trying to figure out something that he can say or do to calm his nerves," Alexander said.

"My skill is way better than his. People think that he's more experienced and that he's more accomplished, but people will see on January 29th how my skill outweighs his skill."

I'm riding with Alexander in this fight. Bradley hasn't even put in the work to be this cocky and he looks very beatable. All it takes is a night were he is off his game.
