America's best pizzas: Does BGOL agree with the list?

Pizza in LA is hit or miss. Two places I fuck with though are "Big Mamas and Papas - Various Locations" and "800 Degrees"- Westwood

What's the best spot you been to in Cali and please don't say CPK because their pizza is ass.

Round Table is my joint. But they seem like they wont be around much longer. Its a poorly ran & advertised chain. Its to my own affection, grew up eating at this joint with my fam, so its more sentimental. Its a regional chain mainly out of Northern Cali.

Sparks Woodfire is good
Mulberry St(Beverly Hills,valley) is good
NY Pizza & Pasta on Sunset & La Brea
Joes Pizza in West Hollywood(Cousin to Joes in NY)
Spago in Beverly Hills
Bossa Nova
Taste of Chicago (Burbank) I found this place after watching the food network NY vs Chicago episode. Looking for Chicago style pizza. Their sausage & peppers sandwich is on hit.

Pizza is a like fingerprint though. Depending on the types & toppings you like. Traditional vs any variation out there.

I barely remember the name (I was tipsy) went to a place in Irvine Spectrum. I am pretty sure it was Cicero's. That was damn good.

Never had none of this shit, and NY pizza is overrated.

You're right it is overrated. It's because they believe they invented pizza. They feel the way they make it it's how it's supposed to be made and how it's supposed to taste. Around the rest of the country their pizza is considered a "Thin Crust" pizza.

Not saying their pizza is bad because I like it, just saying it is overrated.

Only people that say this NEVER had a real slice of NYC neapolitan or sicilian...

Just because the pizzeria is in times square etc... doesn't make it NY... its almost impossible to find a good slice in midtown or the outer boroughs these days

Rosie's-Lorain OH
Samosky's-Valley City OH
Danny Boy's- various
Bella's-Pittsburgh
Jac N Doe's-Tiffin OH

As someone who lives in Newark, NJ, I dont see the big deal with NY pizza. Maybe its because our pizza is influence by theirs? Who knows... I never studied the history of NY pizza and its influence on local areas. All I have to say that in Newark, the best pizza that I have tasted is Queens Pizza on Halsey and Cedar Street.

Best pizza's ever made are from 2 places NYC and Chi-town everywhere else are just competitors

Seriously though, I'm a pizza fanatic, and I get a slice from every city I visit, I can say the best I've had is NY Pizza Exchange in Smyrna, GA.

:smh: the rest of the country mostly doesn't have good water, so the dough starts off wrong no matter how thick the crust, the next problem is most non italians just don't have a recipe for the sauce, so they use simple tomato paste / sauce... Italians make a slow cooked seasoned sauce with a poultry or meat stock and wine.

NYC fell off because soo many dominicans, eastern europeans and arabs own the pizzerias now... but the italian owned joints are still cranking out great pies...

NYC, Chicago, Buffalo, South Florida are the pizza towns... every where else is pretty much luke warm cardboard, paste and mozzrella

im from chicago, you can replace ginos with giordanos!.!

i was wondering why they werent on the list. two slices of their deep dish be having me fuller than a mofo. Connies is decent as well.....but their shit be tasting like everyone else pizza sometimes.

btw...i fucks with Italian Fiesta as well. no deep dish there...but still..they shit be fiyah! I go to the one off 71st and Stoney....but i mainly fuck with the one near my crib...off 47th by Hyde Park. Pres Obama used to fuck with that one a lot before he became president. Them guys in there will burn your shit up sometimes if they smoke something before they start cooking. thats why i like to order early in the day. go to that bitch late at night and its like a night club. niggas hanging out in front....loud broads talking louder....Brothas selling socks and kush inside the restaurant....all kinds of shit.

I went to Di Fara a year ago (stood in line for 45 mins to order, waited another hour for my order and got into an altercation with a dude over a table) during a trip to NY and that was some amazing pizza, but nothing to that I would call hands down #1. The best pizza that I can recall ever was during a trip to Chicago and it had to be the best pizza I've ever had...

I respect your point of view and insight.

I'own know about the pizza from all those other joints. But down here in Birmingham, we have a joint called Tortuga's. I swear, that's the best fucking pizza you'll find. If you want the deep dish, you gotta call 45 minutes in advance for pick up. They don't deliver shit. You damn near need some scissors to cut the cheese and the pizza itself weighs a few pounds. Good shit

As far as big chains in LA go. Nowhere comes close to Round Table. Round Table has been my shit for a long time. Straw Hat used to be the shit too back in the day. In Chicago my favorite was Giordano's. That stuffed pizza was ridiculous. In NY Johns in midtown was crazy good. Of the pizza I've had so far I'd have to say Giordano's was the best. That reminds me, I need to have one shipped.

Wow, Fireside Pies??? :dunno:

Been there a couple times and there is nothing special about their pizza. It's okay but definitely wouldn't expect it to make any lists.

Not even the best in Dallas imo.

remove dc's jumbo slice from that damn list. lazyass, sloppy ass shit.

avg chitown and ny pizzeria spots destroy jumbo slices.

dc competes w/ ny and chicago on alot of shit but pizza aint one of them.
