Amazing statement I heard from Obama...

All this negative talk about obaman and the things he is trying to do and no one spotlights the fact republicans hate him? WHY? I don't expect them to embrace him but the flat out hate him and don't hide the fact they do. You can say what you want, the policies he is pushing is aimed at uplifting the middle class and poor and rich white folk and lost black folk don't like it.

Reminds you of Jimmy Carter, huh?

I like the guy, but he behaves as if he alone is indispensable and other people have to be sacrificed to serve his agenda...

Have a happy life.

I know since he did this Health care thing folks with insurance prices have started to rise to pay for this. My girl is a teacher and 300 bucks comes out each check now. It used to be 90 ish bucks.

They did this out of retaliation, the law will take place in 2014 in which they'll have to comply with the 85% restriction. That should substantially lower costs all along the board.

The Dems are notoriously weak willed, and lack a killer instinct. Also, it seems like he was being used by the Indies to an extent. They jumped on his bandwagon thinking that they were going to ride him to getting EVERYTHING that they wanted accomplished, and when it didn't happen, they abandoned him.

This is exatly what the independent voter does. The Dems need the independent vote far more than the right does because the right has a solid voting base. The Dems voting base is just as weak as it's Representitives.

Exactly! You beat me to it. Plus Dems are so weak that even though they had the majority, they didn't vote like it. Those Dems sacrificed themselves by trying to lean to the middle. The Dems wouldn't have lost the independent vote if they would have came through on all the campaign promises. (ie single payer, more gay rights, troops out of Iraq) By not going hard on Obamas agenda they even lost some of their base. Alot of Dems didn't go to the booths because they figured why bother. Last but not least, the right let it be known that their only agenda was to block Obamas and make it look like he didn't get nothing done. So his response was to get it done "by any means necessary".

They wouldn't even have had to pass those things just look like they'll fight for them.
For an example not related to politics, a fighter can lose 2,3 fights straight but if he fights hard and keeps trying to win to the end, he'll get more fans (Arturo Gatti, Micky Ward) than a cautious, strategic fighter who always wins (Bernard Hopkins, Winky Wright). That's the lesson Democrats should have learned but didn't.
What I don't like is people pushing on Obama the idea that he should tack more to the center. What the fuck do they think he's been doing? Where has that gotten him? Dude should do like Clinto really did and not what they like to say he did: draw a hard line and say "This is where we fight". When the Republicans wanted to make cuts in Medicare, Clinton fought them and won. He gave on welfare reform some but he stood as a solid liberal (if too corporate friendly) and won reelection.
Losing the House pretty much seals the fate of the Democrats. This makes it impossible for them to pass legislation to counteract the Citizens United decision that opened the flood gates of corporate money that buried the Democrats in this election. My dear friend, corporation just just gained franchise, and everyone is fucked... The Democrats are in trouble, unless they too start competing for corporate money...

Not true. They weren't going to pass any transparency legislations anyway. The Democrats still retain the Senate and the White House with the power of the veto. The Republicans now have to back up that talk with action now or risk thier base being upset and not showing up in 2012.

I like the guy, but he behaves as if he alone is indispensable and other people have to be sacrificed to serve his agenda...

He is. There's only one President, who's legacy will rise and fall on the implementation and success/failure of his legacy.

I like the guy, but he behaves as if he alone is indispensable and other people have to be sacrificed to serve his agenda...

And the GOP sacrifice you every term in office to get elected. The president's priority is the people not the elected officials. You guys are so used to the GOP propaganda when shit is going your way you don't even recognize it. "Where are all the GOP shitting on obama threads", "Fuk the GOP they spit in obamas face again when he reached out to work together again threads?"

And he was willing to gut the Democratic Congressional majorities for it?
this alone is what makes the 2 party system complete and utter horseshit. no country can actually progress with this dumb ass system. which is why america as we have come to know it is over. this place has been hijacked by greed, stupidity, and ignorance.

You have Stockholm Syndrome.
Actually I do not. If I did, I would have put my two biggest critics, Dr Truth and Gay D Walker on iggy. But they have method to their madness. There is a system to what they do. On the other hand, I am tired of people who follow every single thing I post to add their own stupid comments. I do not need ass kissers, and I do not need people who are needlessly evil. There is one fellow that I have asked nicely, and he thought I was joking. He follows me in every thread and clearly derives pleasure from talking to me. But enough is enough, he abuse his luck and now he will talk to the hand.

it can go both ways, it could be that he thought health care was so important that it was worth the political costs.

We've managed to do pretty good with it over the last 200 or so years.
While we do have a two party system practically, technically we don't. The Democratic and Republican parties are the two largest and most powerful but there are other parties, some of which have been successful in local races.

If America "as we've come to know it" is over, good. The America of the last 30 years has been built to the benefit of the fewest amount of people at the expense of the masses.

for one thing some blue dog democrats that went against obamas plan went swiftly removed from their seat regardless. these democrats were catering to the conservative crowd and the people voted them out. republicans sink their teeth and dont let go while democrats are all over the place too many infighting. banks are reluctant to loan money, people want less government but want jobs from the government. people have lost their minds as if obama created this mess.

heck even software engineer, computer programmers, factories can be done overseas.middle class getting weaker and the world getting stronger thats the way it is not the presidents fault..

i know you're white so i'll assume by "we", that you mean "yall". this country has never been as good as advertised and if you weren't a brainwashed shill you'd know it. and if the 2 most powerful parties use their power to make it look as if the other parties don't exist, and the masses are too sedated by entertainment and other distractions to look beyond them, do the other parties really count?

NO.

and as for your last statement, the america we know since its inception has been built to benefit the fewest amount at the expense of the biggest amount of people. the slave families who picked the cotton and sugar cane have never been compensated for their work.

If that's what you know, you know less than I gave you credit. You can play those "You're White" games with other people but I'm over defending my Blackness because I don't believe exactly what any particular person thinks a Black person had to believe.

Only argue against what I said and if you don't understand, ask me. I know this country hasn't been as wonderful as advertised but it has progressed from a handful of states to the little brother to older European powers to the dominant world power, militarily and economically. That's progress.

No doubt but there has been a shift from the 70s America to where we are now. Since the election of Ronald Reagan we've seen the gains of middle class and working class people, which the majority of Black people are, under attack.

This nigga said we have had for 200 years!!!! You a nigga you ain't had shit.

Maybe you haven't so speak for yourself. When you leave these borders, you're an American and nobody sees anything different. It's one thing to work on and understand differences in this country but people should never forget that that shit ends at the border.

you're an apologist for the govt. fuck you david.

Obama knew this could lead to the electoral defeat that took place on Nov 2. After the Health care town meetings were hijacked by Tea Party activists in August last year, there were many in the Democratic caucus who developed doubts about the wisdom of the whole thing; they explained their fear of an electoral backlash. Obama countered them by asking them what would happen if they went into the elections without a health care bill. He basically goaded him into voting for the legislation by convincing them that the prospects for losing were greater if they didn't than if they did.

Now Obama has admitted in this interview that he lied. He said he knew there would be political cost... If I was a Democrat who survived the rout in Nov 2, I would question anything he said...
