I'm not sure what the principle difference is between her accusing him of sexual harassment and spreading the gossip that he's a serial sexual harasser without any evidence whatsoever to back it up. Her defense seems to be that she did the latter, so the backlash was unwarranted. No... I think plenty of folk understood clearly from jump that she was spreading secondhand gossip as facts against dude, and that's why she was getting dragged.

This point keeps getting lost: she did not represent secondhand gossip as facts. She stated clearly that she was relaying second hand gossip as second hand info without any empirical proof.

If you think that is wrong then fine. Reasonable people can disagree, as spreading that gossip does have negative social consequences for Myron Rolle. She did do her dirty work in a way that there would be no professional consequences. The hospital board cannot penalize a neurosurgeon solely on the basis of unsubstantiated gossip without paying out tens of millions in lawsuit

So for me it all boils down to this question:

Does the black community value the social and professional reputation of black men over the availability of info necessary for women to protect themselves from harassment, abusers and rapists.


It is scary how many women I dated, and know, that have a fucked up story. Someone is doing all this shit.

Either we let women shine a light and take the good with the bad, or we keep a culture where women are afraid to speak on it.

this is just blatantly irresponsible. that comment in and of itself is patently ridiculous.

in this current environment she knew exactly what she was doing. i actually like seales. but this was a case of very bad judgement.

seales should not have slandered someone's name using unsubstantiated accounts. full stop. and keeping it real it was not her place to discuss it at all. it was the place of those who this allegedly happened to.
