alright FAKERS fans, you got what you asked for...

the fakers carcass wasn't even cold yet, and the fair weather fans started calling for william parker's blood and then his job...

so you got what you asked for in the draft today... the fakers used their pick to take a 2nd year shitbird PG from the sorry ass pussific 10 conference...

you gonna start making excuses now, or are you gonna support your team and say they made the right choice?

and more importantly, are you gonna support william parker returning as the starting PG, or are you gonna lobby for the hustle-will-make-up-for-his-lack-of-skill UCLA player to take his spot?

i wanna see it in black and white here and now, not midway through next season.

Great, another Laker thread. :smh: Werent there other players drafted? I had no idea the Lakers were the only team in the NBA. So this was the only pick that caught your attention?

Well it looks like either Smush or Sasha will be traded anyway.

Lakers deal pick for Evans
The Lakers traded the rights to No. 51 (Cheick Samb) to the Pistons for Maurice Evans.

I think the Lakers would be foolish to trade him away for nothing. Smush will never be an allstar but he could be a great role player. He was never a PG to begin with. He has some value to the Lakers or another team looking to add depth in their backcourt if he is traded. He can run and finish and he is not a bad defender at 6-4. He may have disappeared in the Suns series, but the Lakers would not have made the playoffs without him.

I'll bet you see Smush with another team doing much better

It's a hell of a thing to play with a ball hog who can get you traded

what a surprise. the sensitive guy who bemoans BGOL SPORTS threads about tobe (but doesn't seem to mind internet articles from steve kerr and charley rosen, hmmm?) gets his panties in a twist when a thread starts about the fakers.

sorry, i must've missed the HNIC memo that said timrock gets to mandate BGOL SPORTS topics.

i also apologize for not putting a yellow sticky on the other threads where i mentioned the new york knicks, toronto raptors, phoenix suns and new jersey nets draft picks for you. if you had a genuine interest in basketball, you might've already seen those too. but that's asking too much, isn't it?

funny how you came in here, had NOTHING to contribute, but chose to whine and complain. AGAIN. same m.o.

:smh:

I don't see any threads dedicated soley to the Knicks, Raptors, Suns or Nets. At least not in this sports section i don't. But i do see threads about a Celtic trade and what the Lakers have done.

same m.o.

What's your m.o.? Dissing Kobe and euroleague players? Why, because they made it and you didn't? Or is it because you feel that Ginobli is in the spot you should be in? Yeah, that's probably it.

is it REALLY dissing someone if you're telling the TRUTH? tell me, which criticism was proven false? inaccurate? i'm a patient man. i'll wait.

for probably the 40,379th time, i was blessed to play in an era well before over hyped, scarcely talented (but athletic) teens and garbage euros were the norm: junk players given roster spots because they were underqualified marketing pawns of a push for globalization.

today's paper (teen) idols and euro sissies wouln't have made a roster, much less survived on a practice squad in my day.

There are plenty of other threads dedicated to other teams:

Work for the Knicks, Whats wrong withe the NBA....etc.

No one can say a true thing about Kobe. His irrational fans will jump to his defense. Not just here either. On most other NBA boards the Kobe defense is in full swing . Don't talk about Kobe, but they will trash Shaq and DWade all day.

The reason Kobe fans are even more sensetive now is because they were wrong about Shaq and are now starting to question their own loyalty to Kobe. The Kobe fans actually say that Shaq would not have won without Kobe. This has been an obvious lie from the moment it was uttered and now the man who didn't need the other just got his 4th ring.

Worse yet, DWade's performance in the finals was the exact same performance Kobe fans and Kobe wishes he had.

In the same post season we have seen Kobe up 3-1, beating his chest, then losing game 7 and quitting in the third quarter. He then tells the press that he could "score on Raja" at will, but where was his will at the end of the game? On the bench preparing excuses. On the two way with Charles Barkley. Like fools gold, he looks nice until the acid test reveals the true nature.

Contrast that with DWade taking over a Finals series after having to take IV's for the flu, getting his knee rolled, a hip contusion from the Chicago series and AJ telling his players to put him on the floor. That is a real great player.

You might want the nice car to impress your friends when you are young, however you want one that will get you where you need to go CONSISTENTLY when you get wise.

more details for maurice evans acquisition

The Lakers encountered another stroke of good fortune on draft night. The Pistons, looking to dump salary to free up money to re-sign Wallace, sent Maurice Evans to the Lakers for their second-round selection.

It was slightly reminiscent of 10 years ago, when the Lakers jettisoned Anthony Peeler and George Lynch to free up enough money to sign Shaquille O'Neal. Evans will make $3 million over the next two years.

It was fine with Evans, who won't have to fight for minutes any more in a tight Detroit rotation. "Great opportunity for me to come in and potentially really help this team," he said Friday.

Evans, 27, is a defensive presence who averaged five points and 14.2 minutes in 80 games.

the 2nd coming of toni kukoc?

or the ghost of slava medvedenko?

the fakers pick up a perimeter playing big man who can't play D and doesn't like to rebound. but at least they'll now have five players who shoot better than tobe from 3 land.

so what's the starting 5 gonna be?

chris mihm/kwame brown
vladimir radmanovic/ronny turiaf
lamar odom/brian cook
tobe
william parker

the fakers still have a lot of personnel dumping to do... guess they're planning on stretching the D and lighting up the scoreboard this year... :smh: gimmick basketball...

the clippers continue to exhibit their stupidity. they gave up the #8 pick in the 2002 draft for a sloppy sorry ass euro who played a GRAND TOTAL of 42 games in a clippers uniform. on top of that, 12 of those 42 games were playoffs games, in which he averaged slightly under 21 minutes per game.

the clippers had a playoff berth without the euro, and would've advanced to the WCF if they'd had a real big man on the floor with elton brand. :smh:

Radmanovic plans on signing with Lakers
/ Associated Press
Posted: 14 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Unrestricted free agent Vladimir Radmanovic of Bonsia-Herzegovina plans to sign a long-term contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent said Saturday.

The 6-foot-10 (2.08-meter) forward played 4 1/2 seasons with the Seattle SuperSonics before being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers last February for Chris Wilcox.
The Clippers had said they hoped to re-sign Radmanovic, but it didn't take long for the 25-year-old sharpshooter to make another choice.

"The decision was obviously a tough one for Vlade," agent David Bauman said from Bethesda, Md. "On the one hand, he had strong interest from the Clippers to entice him to remain. (Coach) Mike Dunleavy, (general manager) Elgin Baylor and (executive) Andy Roeser did everything conceivable to make Vladimir feel comfortable and convince him to return.

"At the same time, the Lakers and numerous other teams called just after 12 midnight Eastern time to express to Vladimir their strong interest in getting his services."

Among the callers, according to Bauman, were Lakers star Kobe Bryant and coach Phil Jackson.

"When Kobe Bryant and Phil Jackson call your number at 6 o'clock on the morning of free agency, and you've got Vlade Divac, who's one of his idols, and Magic Johnson on standby, you tend to perk up and listen real hard and clear."

Bauman said it was around 9:00 Friday night in California and 6 a.m. Saturday in Belgrade, Serbia, where Radmanovic lives, when the phone rang.

Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak confirmed the plan, saying: "At the conclusion of the moratorium period, the Lakers intend to enter into a contract with Vladimir Radmanovic."

Kupchak wouldn't comment further.

Teams were allowed to begin speaking with free agents at 12:01 a.m. (EDT) on Saturday, but can't sign them until July 12.

"He's ecstatic," Bauman said of Radmanovic. "He's looking forward to playing with Kobe and helping the Lakers move closer to a championship. He hates to lose, as does Kobe.

"At the end of the day, Vladimir decided that the playing situation and the team makeup of the Lakers was the best fit for him. Vlade knows he's going to vastly improve the Lakers' outside shooting. He's looking forward to working with the Lakers and getting them to the promised land next year."

Bauman said it's unclear what the exact contract terms will be for his client, but the deal will be about $31 million (?24.4 million) over five years.

"It's the full midlevel exception," Bauman said. "He can't sign until July 12. The NBA will tell us at that time what the salary cap is."

Radmanovic averaged 9.8 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists in 77 games last season, playing 25.6 minutes per game. Among other things, he shot 138-of-354 from 3-point range.

footnote to the vladimir radmanovic for chris wilcox trade

as mentioned above, the clippers traded away chris wilcox, who was the #8 pick in the 2002 draft.

after joining the sonics, chris wilcox became a starter in the lineup averaging 30 minutes per game, averaged 14 points per game, 8 rebounds per game and shot damn near 60% FGA.

before leaving the sonics, vladimir radmanovic WASN'T a starter in the lineup averaging 23 minutes per game, averaged 9 points per game, 4 rebounds per game and BARELY shot over 40% FGA.

fucking stupid clipper "brain"trust. yeah, so maybe coach dunleavy and chris wilcox didn't see eye to eye. so the fuck what? if i'm a clipper GM, i keep chris wilcox before i inherit the problem of a generic euro softee.

more fallout from picking up the stinking euro

one quick observation about vladimir radmanovic and his agent. clearly they can't be in it for the money.

seattle offered a contract where he would've averaged an income of $7M per year over 6 years. instead, the euro signed a 1 year deal for $3M. now, he signs a contract where he'll average $6M per year over 5 years. :smh:

let's see if these words come back to haunt me: he would've been far better off taking the money and staying in seattle.

let's put aside the IMMEDIATE on court impact of the euro. even if he somehow pulls a decent season from out his ass, there is still the impact of what that contract does to the future plans of the fakers:

The Radmanovic deal means the Lakers no longer have enough salary-cap space to dole out a maximum contract in the summer of 2008, when there's a slight chance big-name players could be available.

Cleveland forward LeBron James, Miami guard Dwyane Wade and Toronto forward Chris Bosh have all said they plan to sign lengthy contract extensions with their current teams this summer. On Saturday, the Cavaliers offered James a five-year, $80-million contract extension, and Denver forward Carmelo Anthony agreed to a five-year, $80 million contract extension.

Minnesota center Kevin Garnett could also opt out of his contract after the 2007-08 season, but he would leave behind a $23-million payout for 2008-09.

So the Lakers went with Radmanovic, who initially agreed to terms with the Clippers when they called a minute after the free-agency period began Saturday at 12:01 a.m. on the East Coast.

An hour later Bauman contacted the Clippers and said Radmanovic was having second thoughts and was concerned about sharing playing time with swingman Corey Maggette. Dunleavy, who could not fully allay Radmanovic's concerns, then went after Thomas.

Phoenix made an offer starting at $3.5 million a season for Thomas, who provided a boost off the bench in 26 games last season, averaging 11 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 42.9% from three-point range.

The Clippers, however, offered Thomas their mid-level exception starting at about $5.4 million, and after Phoenix declined to raise its offer, Thomas agreed to join the Clippers. A nine-year veteran, Thomas played a key role in the Suns' run to the Western Conference finals. He averaged 14.7 points, 6.1 rebounds and made 37.8% of his three-pointers as Phoenix defeated the Clippers in the Western semifinals.

In Game 6 of a first-round series against the Lakers, he made a three-pointer with 6.3 seconds remaining that sent the game into overtime. The Suns won at Staples Center and routed the Lakers in Game 7 at Phoenix.

Radmanovic is not considered a physical player and has problems using his 6-10 height to his advantage. He will, however, probably have numerous open shots as teams double-team Bryant.

Radmanovic felt underappreciated in Seattle and rejected a six-year, $42-million offer before last season, instead signing a one-year, $3.1-million contract.

The Lakers, aware that point guard Smush Parker struggled in the playoffs, are now expected to pursue a ballhandling guard with their biannual exception, which allows for a two-year contract totaling about $3.5 million.

They still have to deal with Kobe though.

He might be more willing to share with fellow European Players.

They still must learn to play together, it took Miami all season to get guys to adjust.

The Lakers will be in and out of the playoffs for a long time to come unless Kobe can become a leader.
