Allegations for NORE in Rolling Stone

N.O.R.E. Sued for Sexual Assault by Carmen Bryan
Bryan, who shares a child with Nas, claimed she pleaded with Jay-Z not to get involved after telling him about the alleged assault at a nightclub in 1999

N.O.R.E. is being accused of sexual assault by Carmen Bryan, who claims the Queens-born rapper forced himself on her at a packed nightclub in 1999, according to a lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone.

Bryan, an entrepreneur who worked at Rush Management and shares a child with rapper Nas, alleges that the “pervasive sexism, sexual objectification, and ‘misogynoir’” within the culture of hip-hop in the Nineties led her to stay silent for more than 25 years, according to a 20-page complaint filed in New York Wednesday.

In a statement provided to Rolling Stone by Bryan’s attorneys Marjorie Mesidor and Heather Palmore, they saud: “No woman signs up to be assaulted. The assertion that an assault is excusable—or simply did not happen—because a perpetrator failed to recognize his victim strips women of their fundamental humanity. Ms. Bryan is coming forward not only to demand accountability for the lasting trauma and public humiliation inflicted upon her, but to challenge the culture of entitlement that treats women’s bodies as collateral damage.” (A representative for N.O.R.E did not immediately return Rolling Stone‘s request for comment.)

The alleged assault occurred at a time when N.O.R.E, real name Victor Santiago, was promoting his upcoming sophomore album, Melvin Flynt – Da Hustler, at a Manhattan club in May 1999. In the presence of Bryan’s friends, a “visibly intoxicated” Santiago approached Bryan and “committed an act of nonconsensual digital penetration,” the lawsuit alleges.

Santiago allegedly “physically overpowered” Bryan, ignoring her pleas for him to stop, and had to be pulled off Bryan by other clubgoers. “Santiago’s conduct constituted nonconsensual sexual contact, offensive touching, assault, battery, sexual assault, and gender-motivated violence,” the lawsuit claims.

Rattled and crying uncontrollably, Bryan fled the club and was followed outside by Santiago, who allegedly continued making crude comments towards her and kept repeating, “Don’t you know who I am?”

Once under the streetlights, Santiago allegedly recognized Bryan as Nas’ partner, and he immediately apologized. “Carm, I didn’t know it was you. You’re always doing something different with your hair,” Santiago allegedly said, according to court documents.

Weeks later, at a joint Father’s Day event and birthday party for Bryan and Nas’ daughter, Santiago allegedly approached Bryan to apologize again. “Santiago’s repeated explanation that he had not known it was Ms. Bryan did not make the assault consensual, accidental, or lawful,” the lawsuit claims. “It reinforced that Santiago understood he had crossed a line and sought to excuse his conduct only after recognizing who she was.”

Bryan claims that although she stayed silent publicly for years, she disclosed the alleged assault to Jay-Z, a trusted confidante and with whom she had a secret on-off relationship for years. A “protective” Jay-Z allegedly “reacted strongly and threatened to confront Santiago personally,” but fearful of the matter escalating, Bryan asked Jay-Z not to get involved, according to the lawsuit. (Rolling Stone reached out to a representative for Jay-Z for comment.)

In court papers, Bryan says she decided to pursue civil action against Santiago after reading the domestic violence and sex trafficking lawsuit that Casandra “Cassie” Ventura brought against Sean Combs in November 2023.

“Learning of that filing triggered Ms. Bryan’s own traumatic memories of Santiago’s assault,” the lawsuit alleges. Bryan reportedly began experiencing flashbacks, and she struggled to eat or sleep. “The public nature of the assault magnified the injury,” the lawsuit claims. “It was not only the physical violation. It was being grabbed, overpowered, and sexually humiliated in front of friends and strangers, in the orbit of an industry where women were often expected to absorb male misconduct in silence.”

According to court documents, Bryan told Santiago about her forthcoming lawsuit in March and sought to settle the matter privately. Santiago allegedly denied knowing Bryan, leading her to file her lawsuit.

Bryan is suing Santiago under the New York City Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act. She is seeking compensatory damages as well as damages for emotional distress and mental anguish.

I'm wondering why now if true
It appears to be true, and I’m not mad at any woman for pressing charges and getting sexual predators locked up.

I read the article and she explained why she brought it up now, but still.

I saw this and said OHHH;

That part. Why wait 25+ years before you tell? If he was guilty, if he did it, he was guilty 20 years ago. He was guilty 15 years ago. He was guilty 10, 5 years ago.

Fucked up, he's got as much PROOF that he didn't do it as she has that he did it - NONE.

They might have fucked. Dave Chappelle's Love Contract is surely something that should be a thing. Any woman/man can come out of nowhere and claim they were sexually assaulted 20, 30, 40 years ago with ZERO proof and upend someone's life who may be innocent

I know some victims of sexual assault sometimes take long to come out , from months, yrs, decades, some die never saying anything.. I’m just more shock if true that being who she was connected to that they wouldn’t dealt with it in other ways, yrs prior, etc.. crazy if true.. what happens now will be an even bigger story

Digital penetration?

In the year 2026 of our Lord(who's clearly abandoned us lol) 99% of the thread is immediately assuming the woman is lying and people will ask why wait 25 years lmao

To be clear I'm not saying it's one way or another, but you can imagine why women don't come forward just by spending five minutes online reading replies to any accusations.

In the year 2026, I believe her.

She stated that the Puff and Cassie situation triggered her, and I believe her and understand that.

But still, 27 years ago? She's seen Nore establish a new career, get popular. Get new deals that placed him in the spotlight more.

Noe of that in the past 27 years made her decide to step forward?

It just seems like she woke up one day and said "Let me file a lawsuit".

And based of her account of what happened, Nore was a piece of shit back then. Based off of the incident, that's not the first time that happened.

And probably wasn't the first time that night.

All jokes aside, there was a rumor that Derek Jeter had a real life version of a love contract.

He should have. These lying ass bitches have fucked up plenty of motherfuckers lives. They will shout the accusation from the mountains but whisper when the accusation is proven to be false.

No, keep that same energy. All of it. If you're going to shout from the mountains and the rooftops that I did this, I want you to do the same when it's found that I am absolutely innocent.

But that's not news, is it? It's not news when it's found that the guy didn't really fucking do anything or that the sex was consensual... Or the day that this fucking woman said I raped her in Los Angeles I was in Cleveland Ohio

***

This is a true story. A friend of mine went to a club one day and this chick was really feeling him. She was like, let's go to the house and fuck, he said cool.

On the way to his house, she started getting annoying and before she got to his house she fell asleep in his car.

So he left her there and went in the house with the car parked out on the street.

This bitch woke up the next morning and went to the police station that was right across the street and said he raped her.

The cops came to pick him up and he was interrogated by two detectives, one black, one white. The black one said we're going to nail your ass to the fucking wall bleeding everything is fucking bitch said, but the white one thought something about what the bitch was saying didn't make sense

He kept the bitch talking, and every time she told the story how much something changed, so he pressed and pressed and eventually the bitch said "I'm lying. I'm married and I didn't go home last night and I was scared my husband was going to do something to me."

Imagine if he would have fucked her and went to sleep after, that would have been his ass because there would have been no way to prove the sex was consensual.

These bitches be lying. And while there are no doubt rates that go on, there's women out here lying like a motherfucker too for money, for attention, or to keep from getting their ass beat by their husband or boyfriend

I'm conflicted.
If true, there should be some kind of recompense. Acts that cause trauma have long lasting effects, truth be told, many of us are dealing with women that carry baggage from past trauma.

But 27 years?
Listen, 10 years is a long time to hold this. She waited nearly three times that.

Idk man.

Even if it's a money grab.... needs some parameters on time and severity/damages/amount.

Well unless they have audio, video, physical evidence or witnesses.

It's always someone's word against another's. :dunno:
That's the issue.

No evidence. 27 years later. She told other people, but not the authorities?

Then... pre-suit reach out? So justice for her is a negotiated settlement?

I'm no legal expert but if you got some dirt and your past comes looking for financial restitution, best make sure it's final and legally binding. don't assume hush money will keep you out of any court

Ok thanks to you, you've now fucked up my thinking of the situation!

I do believe that her story's real, I do believe that it happened and that she was negatively affected.

She says that she wanted justice. So she went to him in March looking to settle the situation, with a "Settlement".

Is him giving her money in private, and acknowledging that it happened all that she wanted?

Because he already acknowledged that it happened twice, and apologized. Twice.

He told her to kick rocks.

But if he would've given her a settlement, shit let's say 1 million dollars.

That's not justice, that's just money.

27 years later.

Exactly!

Where are the parameters?

I was pile driving a bih and shifted a few centimeters on outstroke, then came down in the wrong hole... bih shot vertical like the space shuttle challenger. It happened with 2 different chicks in my life.

Now I gotta worry about them wanting "justice" because they were "negatively affected"?

What about all the chicks I went too deep on? Or they were dry and they're skin tore a little? Or she was sore the next day?

One angle I haven't heard anyone talk about is her dragging Jay Z into the mix. I believe she did that to get attention yes, but the bigger play is she knows Jay will not want to do a deposition or testify about their relationship or what she told him during that time. And she knows Jay definitely doesn't want to be subpoenaed to testify. So Jay can put pressure on NORE to settle with her before it goes too far. Hell, Jay may have one of his companies settle the situation not to be dragged into it.

I do think it happened, the story is too weird to make up. NORE was probably drunk or high and wildin out. But she would have never sued him if Cassie didn't get millions and Drink Champs did not blow up.

Controversial take (sorry, not sorry):
The biggest issue is that the burden of proof is so low with these cases. I had (have) family recovering from a false allegation of similar parameters (10 years) where there was no physical, digital, or forensic evidence. Just a woman claiming something went down and some old text messages. That was enough to run an “iCard” on my cousin and eventually blow his life up.

Because the only thing necessary to jam someone up are tears and proof a relationship, it’s possible that they didn’t come forward because the fear of accountability is greater than the potential shit about to be shoveled.
