I don't believe it's that deep. The right have no plans to improve the lives of anyone other than the wealthiest people in this country, so they distract by pointing at squirrels.

You're underestimating them. Think about the change to abortion. They had been working to do that for DECADES. Packing the courts, packing the Supreme Court and constant challenges in court and now look where we are.
Now you have changes to school boards, challenges to books and movies that depict true Black historical facts etc. You really think next steps aren't trying to bring back separate but equal?
