This is meaningful to the non believer and something that soothes the rational mind.
BUT, it has nothing to do with faith.
I can respect this guy and others for not believing. Why can't non believers leave me alone? Why must something be wrong with me for believing.
OR
Is it that you don't want me to believe? If I am flawed in my thinking, are you helping me out with this sort of rationale? Am I to live a better life by giving up my religious beliefs?
WHAT
is the difference between you and believers in recruiting people to believe as you do? Christians what me to be Christians, Muslims want me to be Muslim, and non believers want me to be a non believer.
What if I choose be be a believer and I don't care what you believe or not? Leave me alone and we can get along just fine.
Maybe the problem is, you don't like living in a society that is founded on Christian values.
Do realize, these values produced your free will thinking and allow you to voice and actively espouse your non beliefs freely and still remain a member of society. The US was founded on religious freedoms which includes freedom not to believe. You can live, thrive, be fruitful and multiply and never have to believe, in the US.
Religion
Affords the believer, through faith, to believe in a creator that has ultimate love for its creations. It affords us a set of morals and ethics that are based on the ultimate respect of human life then all other life. It is the closest we come to pure love thought. Love is the most powerful emotion we have, and it cannot be rationally explained. It allows us to transcend logic! (A dad will run into a burning building to rescue one trapped child--- risking leaving the other children fatherless) There are countless examples. God is the ultimate expression of love of man. That is the basis of moral and ethical treatment.
If I base my morals and ethics on Respect, then my rationale can be selective. I might respect you and not someone else, that has shown a disregard for other people. As a people, more people know the saying, "respect is earned," than the scripture, "...God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son..."
So how strong is respect to use as a basis of moral or ethical beliefs?
So I say again, I respect the non believer's rights to not believe. Can the non believer respect mine to believe? Our society is based on Christian morals and values. We are human and we are flawed. Our society is not perfect, but there are other societies around the world that may suit you better if you would rather not participate in the US. Believers in the US do not REQUIRE you to participate in traditional observances, so you have the freedom to do as you wish.
Does what you wish have to be intentionally disrespectful to those that believe, or can you live your life and move on?
