All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 100%.

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

Why do some of yall hate God so much? I don't have listen to this natural man rant about God. I knew what he was going to say in the first place. All the stuff about how can a loving God send people to hell and how can people who are 'good' people go to hell. First, God does not send anyone to hell. We send ourselves there if you believe that there is one. I would much rather believe that there is a God than to believe that it is not one.

Yes it is purely self-centered to want to go to heaven. It sure is.

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

People only want to believe in a greater power because they get something out of it(eternal life).

Notice the greed that is tied into religion. The begging(praying) for something good to happen. The wanting to live forever. Just greedy and arrogant people acting like they are humble by believing in a power greater than themselves.

If I were a god I would have let these religions have been created so whoever didn't use the brain I gave them and believed in this horseshit wouldn't get into an eternal paradise.
 Jokes on you. You actually believed that shit? Talking snakes? Two of each animal? Virgin birth? GTFOH You only suspended your reason to believe in me so that you could live forever, now your greedy ass will cease to exist. BYE!!

You so right that I would want to live forever in Heaven, yes in deed. Is it greedy? Maybe. What do you care? Thank God you aint god. What you mad about if I believe in a virgin birth, what you mad about? Tell me.....so I can know why you so angry?

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

Maybe it was just me ... but dude went on a Colin Powell rant and lulled me to sleep lol

At any rate, people need to study more ... about spirituality that is. Spirituality is above reasoning and entails a "feeling" which is above thoughts ultimately. I don't phuck with "blind" faith either ... but put a man on an island alone without knowledge christianity or the bible ... I guarantee he'll find God within and without.

You can't guarantee something like that at all. Why are you pretending to know something you don't.?

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

Nicely articulated, however nothing new there for me.

im surprised most folks who questioned the existence of a deity, haven't already come up with some of these taught's.

Stephen Roberts

"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."

I started laughing to myself in the middle of this video... not at the dude... but kinda tripping out at the angle he was going. I applaud. This was great.

I'm not saying I don't believe in God. I just don't believe God as a "being". I believe God is life and everything that happens in it. Its that simple.

Our curiosity and hunger to figure out everything is going to fuck us up one day.

He wasn't responding to the version of God ur talking about then.

You do realize that he was responding to a specific question that had nothing to do with ur version correct?

Maybe because "Deity" and "GOD" does not always mean the same thing therefore trying to find Words to describe might be hard.

I believe GOD is The Universe, not a Deity. Try explaining that to someone whose been indoctrinated in a Christianity all their life.

Can't hate something ya don't believe in. Don't know why people don't understand that.
But it's good that you admit that you believe simply because you "want to" and would simply rather it that way. Shit, I'd rather it be that I had a different bad chick to fuck every day of my life with no worry of disease or getting em pregnant while we're wishing
True indeed.

What I don't get though ... there are stars out in the universe that we can't see ... yet, we know they are there. Athiest will back this kind of shyt. We breathe air, although we can't see air. An anthiest can't see my feelings and unless he/she is psychic, can't see my thoughts. This is reasoning. They'll believe the tangeable scientific shyt, yet and still ... what they fail to overstand in the end is "SPIRITUALITY." The meaningless details of any books or traditions are just that .. meaningless.

I'd like to see more athiest explain psychic activity .. I've experienced the shyt first hand.
Not believing in God doesn't necessarily say much towards beliefs of psychic ability or anything

There are skeptics, such as James Randy and penn and teller who put those types of things to test.

People try to test these things all the time and all we know now is that we haven't seen anyone who can consistently do it with under testable conditions. But there's all kinds of discussions on how to explain things like that. I wouldn't say that it's all ruled out.

skeptics simply deny the claims of many of the takers out there. To some extent we are all skeptical about something. I hope so

no I totally understand that. He's talking about those that believe in God as a "being" aka "The Christian's God" or most religions. I just added my opinion of what God is (not who God is).

Damn... I knew he looked familiar.... up until recently he was on the soap with Daphne Duplaix (I work at home, so I watch all things fellas, lol). Edit: One Life to Live.
Just the fact that he is an actor doesn't necessarily make what he says less or more trustworthy though.

Along the lines of what he's saying though... If two people die, one a really good person who just did not happen to believe what people told him to believe, but chose to be a good person anyway, even if he believed that being a bad person wouldn't cause him to go to hell (because he doesn't believe in any afterlife). The other person is a Jeffery Dahmer type... worse even... like a Khmer Rouge dude that has killed hundreds, but right before he died, he repented and accepted God.... a lot of people would say that the God they believe in would take the 2nd guy with him and send the first guy packing, and that makes no sense.

ummmm to be honest..this guy is a ACTOR...primerely soap operas..cant trust anything he says..but he plays it well

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

Here we go again. A man who can walk out his door get hit by a car and die, trying to tell me there is no God. Get out of here with this. Do you see what we do to each other everyday. We kill, rape, burn and do so much more but you want us to tell us that there is no God? I would much rather believe that there is.......

Case and Point.

Out of all his pandering, pontification, finite motal reasons, He couldn't find one reason to have faith? ...and he thinks he's onto something?

Worst, he used all the reason why others would cause him not to believe and out of all the reason why he thought he was better, more civil and moral and still couldn't come on with one reason to CHOSE FAITH.

when that's the one and only attribute God asks for, is Faith.

I was really trying to avoid this but I thought maybe there might be something interesting...I'm sadly disappointed he really had nothing to say...

Other than God would respect my point of view for not believing in Him because everbody is a jerk and I am so smart.

:hmm:

OK. How bout looking at it like this way...Lets' look at it, HYPOTHETICALLY for a second look at ....if we could from a "eternal" sense or point of view than a "finite, mortal point of view.

Let's try to see it from God's Eye (not that I see it from God's way since I am not God, but from what little I know, based on the Bible, as oppose to "32 mind of this eloquent but mortal mans' point of view? Let's just try...

What if...

What if "death" from God's point of view is only Sleep as Christ often refered to it in the bible. So to God, those were only 300 people who were MERELY sleep which God was going to wake up and send to Heaven. They were already "Saved" because they had faith in Christ before they died. And God was happy that they would live eternal life instead of just 70-80 years and die.

So this murderer was UNFORGIVEABLE only from a MORTAL point view, because we loved these people and we see this as horrible thing to do, which of course it is and we say this man is on his way to hell for killing him. But, then he TRULY repents...not because he was dying but because he truly saw how much hurt he caused. He repents... God forgives him and when he dies there's is now 300 and 1 person in Heaven. All Saved. All loving God and All loved by God.

Now, you have the one "moral" person still on Earth. Believes he is as Good of person as EVER to be let into Heaven because he has a great mentality to what he thinks is right. He knows that a murderer shouldn't be forgiven. He sees how HORRIBLE other people are and KNOWS how much BETTER his is than they are....ESPECIALLY this murderer which He has personally decided that by no means is this guy getting into Heaven before him because he is a better human and has reason that God knows he is better. He decided He can read people hearts. He knows that no one who murders should be forgiven especially just before they die. It's not even time for forgive a murder.

He knows what right and wrong in the sight of God. He knows that this God knows every thought that brought him to the conclusion that there is not a God and he can't be worst to God knowing every incident that happend in this murderers life to make him choose to do what he did. His reason for not beliving in God has to be better than a murderers reason for believing that God is and will pity him for being a sinner. The moral man doesn't even believe his sin is in need of forgiveness. Eventhough the bible said it is so, especially since he sees no harm, or fault in any of the things he does. It's good with him so It can't be wrong with God.

This moral man has decided he doesn't need help getting into Heaven because he's that worthy or even needs Faith that there is Heaven because if it is one, He is already SO GOOD that if there is he can just walk in on his own merit without any of the Mercy, and Grace that ALL the other 300 and 1 needed.

All I can say...is for his sake there better not God because if it is... He's got some splane'n to do  He with that ego of his...there may not be enough room for anyone else to fit in...

Just hypothetically, but I think I have made my point.

This is all mind games and if God is a fucking petty bastard like that I don't want to fucking go to heaven...he can have that shit.

I didn't ask for this fucking life.

I didn't ask for this Earth.

I didn't ask for Adam and Eve.

I didn't ask for a tree I couldn't eat off of.

I didn't ask for a fucking talking snake to persuade me into eating off said tree.

I didn't ask for none of this shit, he made it...so if he wants to be a dick he can fuck off.

I'm gonna waste my life trying to appease some muhfucka who made me fucked up and then doesn't want to take responsibility.

If I make a radio that cannot play music it is not the radio's fault, it's mine.

If God is mad at how we turned out then he should fucking send his own got damn self to hell.

He took our sins, suffer, went through hell, So you don't have to...

So now what your excuse?

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

That's still bullshit. Recap, god made people, made the rules, made people so that they could and would want to break the rules, just to see if they would, when they do, he makes a place for eternal torment and punishes them just because they don't play his game they way he likes.

Either god is playing an elaborate game or god is a way for people to control the behavior of others.

I love the whole 'god sent his son for us' argument.

Why did Jesus have to die?
Because people sin.
Why do people sin?
Because its in their nature.
Where did people get their nature?
From god.
Ummmm......

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

Always amazes me that people who call themselves free thinkers despise that God gave them choice.

One good point though, if religion is about mind control, then how are "free minds" any different than being controlled?

They don't run their own country, heck most of them dont even run their own business.

How is Jesus picking up a coin and saying " Give unto Ceasar what is do to Ceasar and what is God what is do to God" makes me more a mindless sheep when we both pay taxes?:dance:

I think I got more choice than you...Heaven or what is due to God. His people. I have another kingdom.

Just playing a bit but you get my point.

Agreed. A greater intelligence that sustains the universe doesn't have to or need to exist within the limited confines of Christianity.

And eventually I think others will realize that.

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

I see what you're saying... like you said, it was a hypothetical... and that's fine, but it points out something about all religion, and all religious teachings. It's all hypothetical, although most people who are believers are afraid to admit that. I do believe in God, and I believe because I choose to believe, even though I know that I have no proof, I have no knowledge of the hows, whens and whats.... and I know that religion, for the most part, is man's silly way of dealing with his fear of death and his need to make this all make some sense...

Every person on earth can (and many have) make up or think up, or thoughtfully hypothesize about God, gods, heaven, hell, or whatever, but it doesn't necessarily make them right. What one person believes is really no more or less relevant than what another person believes. Jews believe Christians are wrong about the saviour, Christians believe Jews better get with the program before judgement day. Christians and Jews believe that Buddists and Wiccans and Hindus and Muslims have it wrong, and vice versa.

In the meantime, we were born with brains; brains that are capable of thinking critically. If a perfect being created us, that means that the gift of critical thought was given for a reason, and I don't believe that anyone will ever be punished for using it. Most people of one religion think pretty critically about other religions and decide that in their opinion, those other religions are just flat out wrong. Some people do the same, but to all religions, not just saving the one that their parents taught them to believe, or that their countrymen believe. I think God would appreciate a non-believer... he'd probably say "man, if I grew up down there, I really wouldn't trust what reverend, or imam or rabbi or whoever told me either"... cause they're just men, and men lie, and men make mistakes, and men change stories to benefit themselves".

Its sad how you all try to wrap your meager pitiful human nigga minds around god's.... you act as if you would do better, as if you would be a better god... or if your judgement of life is so much better..... yet you live in sin everyday.... and you have the fortitude to question god...

i would respect a reasonable arguement but i have yet to see one in all these athiest posts...

we are all prisoners to misinformation and being lazy and not finding things out for ourselves... we see a backsliding preacher so we shy away from god.... yet if a woman breaks ur heart u dont shy away from women all together... its all what you have the faith and wisdom to do.... some people are just lazy

I may not be a God to humans but to a Computer or Robot I am and I can code a set of instructions that will make a Computer do what I wish. If I do however code some instructions that cause my computer to run incorrectly I'm not going to break my computer - I'm going to rewrite the code. According to the Christian Bible God doesn't want to rewrite the code...he wants to keep destroying the incorrectly programmed computers until they work how he wishes which makes no damn sense. If you cannot understand that point it is due to the fact that your beliefs are blinding your ability to reason.

No offense, I disagree.
I said hypothetical merely open the "door of possibly" for those to which is shut. To crack the door enough for a beam of possibly to shine through. I wasn't saying it for my benefit. God is not hypothetical but REAL and honestly, I don't believe I chose him but only chose to follow, no more than the Fishermen (disciples) walked up to Christ and choose him. He picked them and they choose to follow. That's all. Not a religion but a person. Christ. I don't consider myself even religious but religion means methodology right? I don't do crap that routinely.
I'm actually against thinking if you routines makes you holy. It doesnt.

Death is not why I believe in Christ or study the bible. The bible is for here and now. Dealing with situations, problems, concerns, that are a part of my present life, but God is a "Present Help. It is God's PRESENCE, that is REAL and not a theory, debate, theology, or choose...or even up for discussion. That's like me trying to convince you I don't exist, eventhough I am typing right now and you are reading what I wrote. So if God doesn't exist then who help me solve the problem I had with my business, today when i asked Him to help me. My "Present Help". If your called a repair man to fix your TV, while you were at work and eventhough you didn't see him, when you got home from work and the TV was fixed...who fixed it? I see His works in my life.

This a very long topic, so let me say a few points quick points.

I think for people to say God would congratulate an unbeliever for his critical thinking still is self congratulating. Christ didn't congratulate Peter saying "hey that was great Peter, you walked on WATER a little bit." No he reprimanded him for not walking the whole way. Saying, "Oh yea of little faith".

Personally I dont see how people can walk on God's beautiful green Earth, go on pic nicks with love ones, see the sun and the moon and say " God's going to thank me for not believing it's a blessing" The world is a half empty cup and not half full. With all the critical thinking I have I only doubt and not only didn't believe, but never believe to the actually allowing belief to become "Faith" and not just baby steps of belief. That they never believer to the power where it become grown "working, powerful, functioning" faith.

As far as other religions, Long subject. Let God handle that. I believe in Christ because of the things He did. Died for my sin.

Re: All Believers In God, Listen to this Man's Reasons For NOT Believing. I Agree 10

It is God's PRESENCE, that is REAL and not a theory, debate, theology, or choose...or even up for discussion. That's like me trying to convince you I don't exist

I can prove to anybody that you exist, but you can't prove to anybody that God exists. Therefore, it is up to discussion, unless you just don't want to discuss it.
