The portable versions is that you can use the appplication directly when you click on them,without installing it on your PC and the need of cracks or serials....etc...
So it is a useful, but the dis-advantage of this portables, is that it cannot make an update, but it works 100%

I may look at the portable versions...to see if they have to be registered or not.

From an IT professional outlook...it's easier to deal with programs than can just be dumped into a folder...because Windows or Mac installs...scatter files all over the place...and make it harder to completely uninstall things.
