What is … wholesome? On today’s episode of Hot Ones, host Sean Evans asked Saturday Night Live cast member Kenan Thompson about his brief interaction with Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek at the 2019 NHL Awards. In between bites, Thompson said Trebek immediately complimented him on the “Black JeopardySNL sketch, commending him for doing a successful Jeopardy! parody after Will Ferrell’s iconic impersonation. “He was patting me on the back about that, but I was patting him on the back for probably being one of the smartest people in the world,” Thompson said. “Because it seems like he knows the answer to all of those Jeopardy questions. He has a way of responding to each question like, ‘No, of course, it’s this, and that, and the other, because I read this book or I’ve known about this historic town in Rome.’ You know what I’m saying? He was incredible.”

During the episode, Thompson also discussed his first week at SNL, where Tracy Morgan drove him around the block for lunch at TGI Friday’s, and a sketch he was desperate to do with Bruno Mars called “Active Jack” that ended up being played by Kevin Hart. Plus, Thompson handled the spice pretty well, even going back for seconds on the last sauce. Watch the full episode below:

This asshole wanted kids to go back to school during the initial outbreak and was okay with a few million of them dying of covid. Fuck him, his family and his future blood relations.

I hear you on that. My cousin's in his mid-40s and has had some health scares in recent years (heart-related). His grandpa died at 50, and dad at 58 back in 1997. Both from heart attacks. Cousin's got 3 kids (ages 8 - 13) with another kid on the way this September. Him and his wife are both teachers at a grade school. 2 of their kids go to the same school, and 1 just entered junior high. He works full-time (music) and his wife's part-time in general studies, etc. They as parents were in NO RUSH to go back. Both for themselves and their kids. Wanted to ensure a number of safety protocols and even then he wasn't content. He delayed their return until later this past year. Turns out the school had some additional older laptops in storage, and he asked to borrow those for the kids at home for virtual learning. He flat out told us - "I'm in no fucking rush to return ..."

When his father passed unexpectedly in 1997 ... his first pension check arrived the week following his passing. He had worked 40 years for one of the phone companies. Ended up face-planting on the curb after a jog while talking to a friend out walking his dog in front of a local stripmall.

Alex Trebek earned a posthumous Daytime Emmy nomination while Drew Barrymore received her first nod in the Talk Show Host category, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the soon-to-be-shuttered The Ellen DeGeneres Show snagged a nom in the Best Talk Show category. Ellen DeGeneres, in contrast, hasn't submitted herself for years.

Nominees are selected by industry expert panels; not the general membership. Winners have already been selected (but remain secret) since they are the ones who collect the highest score during the nomination process. That's why you never see For Your Consideration ads for the Daytime Emmys.
