Sad state but I've had a couple of female friends ask me if they should use bleaching cream. I was like, "You light skinned, fuck you need that shit for? To look like Michael Jackson!?" Suffice it to say they didn't take kindly to that response.

A funny thing I have noticed about african skin bleaching treatment is that it's so upfront while in America they call call it all types of PC names . One tme I told an american friend that Clear essence was a skin lightening cream and she gave me the look

All you gotta do is go to one of those african hair product stores & you will find it. They aren't in any name brand stores but these independenly owned spots carry them & make a killing. I remember a friend of mine's was asking if they sold a particular hair product & at least 10 or more women came in to buy that bleaching cream. I was only in there for like 4 - 5 minutes! Shit ain't cheap either.

well I know in Florida and ATL and D.C. you can buy the bleaching creams and soaps at local beauty shops and Sallys but in sallys they call them fade,toner,scar remover creams and soaps

These products are available at your local walmart, walgreens, cvs, costco and sally's or whenever. This ain't nothing new or specific. Chinese and korean do it too. For the record, many so-call white folks bleach their skin and straighten their hair too.

Anyway, their is no real bleaching taking place.

That woman use these product for 10 years and she looks 3 shades lighter than Wesley Snipes and 10 shades darker than Alicia Keyes.

Her efforts are in vain.

Some people do not fully understand the negative impacts on self esteem that resulted from imperialism/colonialism. Centuries of white is right and everything you believe in is wrong not only deeply corrupted Afrcans views of themselves but every culture of color.


Take many Asian Americans for example, who get surgery done on their eye lids so they gain the appearance of double eye lids in the hopes of looking more European.

Its all about competition.. world human culture dictates that lighter is better.. so those with lighter complexions receive better treatment have a better chance of success. So it should come as no surprise that many darker skinned people are choosing to obtain lighter skin..

I can go much deeper into the physio-psychology of this issue but i will leave it there for now..
