In previous years the business was prosperous but towards the end of '07 shit started to go downhill, the stores we supllied were folding and revenue stopped. Now granted, the owner was a fucking idiot when it came to business decisions, but the market wasnt strong.

$10 x 200 = $2000 (2000-400= $1600 profit)

even if it takes me two months to sell all. It's still 400% ROI

yeah, porn aint like it used to be. the internet killed the storefront shit. i believe the only people who buy dvds are those who either aint hip to the internet or cant afford the service/computer, etc. and thats a small crowd now. even pornsites are struggling.

But i'd say its important to find out what kinda flicks they are (amateur/pro/fetish/etc). I think what type of movies they are and the quality of the movies will dictate if they'll sell.

I use to sell DVD's and STOP SELLING THEM because Digital Distribution makes more money. I use to make 15K a month selling DVD's. When it dropped to 200 Bucks a Month, i said FUCK it, the DVD GAME is DONE.

sounds good BUT are the titles out dated? it seems like they have to be for that cheap of price. no one wants porn from 1996 well at least wont pay for it...

..and if you are just doing local sales in your hood and not planning on shipping all over, just burn the hot new shit from bgol and get your grind on. Make different titles, design some hot covers and go for it.

Get a print shop to print the designs for the different cases at maybe .25/copy
Insert into the case with burned dvd.

Sells theirs and yours. Better profit margin selling yours... Less time investment selling theirs. Just an idea.

i'm not gonna say don't do it, because sometimes the best lessons learned in life come from mistakes.

like others said, it depends largely upon the content you would be purchasing from this person (even if it was a legit sale).

the other problem part of the equation is the pie-in-the-sky suggesting pricing structure. "well, you could sell each piece for $10. or $15. or $25. or $50"



with generous hypotheticals like that, you could imagine even larger profits. but it's not realistic.

also, $2.50 per title isn't anything extraordinary. if you really wanted to try your scheme out, i can get you legit content at under a $1 per title.

That makes sense if your on your street hustle. I was at the barber shop sometime last year when a guy walked in selling DVDs. He also had porn dvds, dudes went nutts when they saw the covers like "Daaamn, Brazilian blah blah" I look them over and I said to myself all this shit can be downloaded online. Before I finish my thought, the dude was swarmed and left with more porn buyers than hollywood movie buyers. I also have a friend that just burns porn he downloads to dvds and sells them 2 for $10. His main demographic are usually teenagers or guys living with their parents and don't have full access(privacy) to download porn. My guess is that will be yours. Also check out Ebay's little known adult section, you could offload them there on a regular basis, if you don't want to deal with hand-to-hand selling. Also Ebay "adult" doesn't do Paypal, so there's no Paypal fees.

Damn, I need to stop being lazy and finish that Ebay tutorial, I promised.
