Adrien Broner (24-0, 20KOs) dominated and stopped Vicente Escobedo (26-4) in five rounds at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. Broner was a little upset that he didn't get a chance to knock Escobedo out. As he was battering Escobedo against the ropes, Escobedo's corner threw in the towel.

"It just shows good fighters and elite fighters don't mix," Broner told BoxingScene.com. "I didn't really get done what I wanted to do, but I did what I had to do to get the victory. I'm going to go home and watch the tape and see what mistakes I made."

Broner is now moving up to the lightweight division. He wants to face WBC champion Antonio DeMarco next, and then WBO junior welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez - likely at a catch-weight.

"I'm going up to lightweight. Like they say, guys like me don't come around for decades and decades. My training ethic, I can really do what I want in the sport, as long as I stayed disciplined and loyal to the sport," Broner said.

"Now we're moving on. The task will only get bigger from here. We're going to lightweight to give all of them hell. DeMarco can be next, Marquez after that...[Brandon] Rios. Anyone can get it."

Is he really THAT talented to talk the way he's been talking? I haven't followed his career closely.

Yeah... he is.

Fast as Mayweather, same defense, WAY more powerful hands, and he has a killer instinct that Floyd has NEVER had.

Whether it is the weight or the quality of opponent he will find himself in a position where his power won't allow him to hurt the guy across the ring... and then that killer instinct shit is a liability. He has skills but he is no where near as disciplined as Floyd on the defensive tip and I see him trying to outfight the first quality boxer who eats his punches instead of outbox. Which can result in trouble, but I won't deny he is nice regardless. That is really a question about his boxing IQ.

Yeah I was going to add to that he's not as quick as Floyd plus he don't move his head like he should, he gets hit way too much.

If that really is the case, then he can forget winning a fight against Marquez.

I had this discussion my nig after the fight and honestly we have been spoiled by Mayweather. After awhile we had to question what the fuck we were doing because we were arguing about a dude get hit in a boxing match. We are so used to a guy using that defense and shutting a motherfucker down. I also think that's why people overreacted about what Cotto was doing in their fight. Broner isn't close to Mayweather in that regard but he is good. I think Broner can and more than likely will improve, but the comparison is a little of a reach at this point.

Adrien Broner Returns on October 6th in Atlantic City

Fresh from his five round demolition of Vicente Escobedo, former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20KOs) will return on October 6th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City. Broner will be moving up to make his debut in the lightweight division. The card will be a doubleheader, and potentially a televised tripleheader. The network has not been finalized.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that heavyweight contender Seth Mitchell (25-0-1, 19 KOs) will face Johnathon Banks (28-1-1, 18 KOs) on the card.

And welterweight puncher Keith Thurman (18-0, 17KOs) is also a potential possibility to be a part of the broadcast. This past Saturday night at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, as the HBO televised co-feature to Broner-Escobedo, Thurman dominated and stopped Orlando Lora in six rounds.

"We have secured October 6th in Atlantic City. We are working on a doubleheader, which could potentially be a tripleheader," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.

Based on Broner's high television ratings from this past Saturday, Schaefer believes HBO will certainly want to have him back on their airwaves - and he also expects the young fighter to become the next superstar of the sport.

"For [HBO's] "Boxing After Dark", this is definitely the biggest rating that they've had in many years. I would think, if you actually look at it at a per dollar basis....how much they paid and the kind of rating that was delivered - I am convinced that it was highest rating they've had in five, six years. If you look at the rating for [the HBO program] "Two Days," it was the highest rated "Two Days" of any fighter that they've ever done. A huge rating. Over a six rating. What does that tell us? Adrien Broner invokes these emotions in people," Schaefer said.

"He is a natural in the ring and he's a natural outside of the ring. He makes you scratch your head and say 'did he just say that or did he just do that.?' You can be describing the moves that he's doing in the ring or what he's doing outside of the ring.' He is a natural. He's a born entertainer like Floyd Mayweather. When you have a young fighter like that producing ratings that are much higher than most of the top pound-for-pound fighters...except Mayweather and Pacquiao, the guy produces the highest ratings."

Fan of both fighters...more of a fan of JMM...but Broner has the skills that will get him pass JMM or Demarco...

homie fighting style is very similar to Floyd I think he has a slight advantage with his power right now...I don't see JMM or Demarco winning this fight...

Personailty & Skills Broner will be a star
