Tom Hanks as Andy Dufresne
Shawshank Redemption

first off this thread gets 5 stars..i love hearing about behind the scenes shit like dis..dis 1 rite here is def interesting the way they broke it down..shawshank was dat movie and gump.. but their rite morgan made dat movie what it was as da narrator..don't get me wrong robbins did his thing but it did come off as morgan point of view..hey in da end it worked out in every1 fave..i'm juss curious to see how shawshank would've been if tom would've played it

A couple people turned down roles because they didn't want to be away from home for long stretches of time but isn't that was actors do? Some because they didn't understand the movie but if your a great actor then wouldn't your focus be on making your part great and let the director do the rest.

If Denzel would have played Brad Pitt's part in Seven would Morgan Freeman have stayed on having two blacks men as leads and would it have been three with Gwyneth Paltrow being replaced?

Man I am sooo glad they changed the Predator's design!

Jean Claude Van Damme as The Predator
Predator
Producers cast van Damme as the title role in the hopes that his martial arts abilities would make the predator seem agile, despite the costume; which, at the time, was a completely different design from the one seen in the movie. Van Damme found the suit uncomfortable and clumsy, about which he was quite vocal on set. He quit after two days of filming, allegedly because he was upset about playing an “uncredited special effect”. A new, more agile costume design and 7’2″ actor Kevin Peter Hall made for a much more imposing villain.

 oh shit at da predator..fuck van damme and shoutout to the black dude that killed dat role... by da way only 1 so far i regret not taking da role was jet li.. dat actually would've been a bad ass fight with him and wes..by the way op where u getting all dis info from i want to send da link to my older bro me and him love shit like dis

Glad she turned this bullshit down. She has integrity. Wish more black people did and stopped taking these hoe role sterotypes. Halley got smutted. Lost all respect for her after this role.

You lost all respect for an actress doing her job? I haven't seen the movie but did see that scene. I seriously doubt that one scene was so pivotal that it had to be included and I believe that someone like Angela Basset could have gotten that written out of the movie.

I don't see nudity and sex scenes progressing any movie and I'm sure can be modified for a great actress if she refuses.

Famo that short ass nigga as a vampire?

Blade woulda been ass like shangi noon

Dorff killed that role

Te opening scene is the goat

Nigga slayes like 100 cacs

Gwyneth Paltrow as Rose DeWitt
Titanic
Before Kate Winslet learned how to fly in Titanic, a number of actors were on the short list for the part of Rose, including Homeland star Claire Danes and French-born actress Gabrielle Anwar. Apparently, actress Gwyneth Paltrow was actually director James Cameron’s first choice, but when she was offered the part, she turned it down because it wasn’t her “cup of tea.” "Titanic" was a massive success, one of the highest-grossing films ever made.

This isn’t to say it didn’t work out well for her. Though Winslet secured an Academy Award nomination in 1997 for portraying Rose, Paltrow actually won an Oscar the next year for her role in Shakespeare in Love.

Who: Tom Hanks
Role: Jerry Maguire
Movie: "Jerry Maguire"

Cameron Crowe—the director of the 1996 sports flick—has reportedly said he wrote the movie with Hanks in mind for the lead role. At the time, Hanks was directing "That Thing You Do," so had to pass, but he later approved Tom Cruise as his replacement. "I think you look at it now and it couldn’t have been anybody other than Tom Cruise,” Hanks told "Access Hollywood." “It’s the way the movie’s operated. I don’t think anybody would look at that now and say, ‘That movie was not perfect.’”

Hugh Jackman as James Bond
Casino Royale
Hugh Jackman has explained the reasoning behind his decision turn downf the role of James Bond, saying that he wanted to keep as many doors open as possible.

The Les Miserables star revealed in 2011 that he was asked to play the British spy years ago, but ultimately decided to pass it up.

“I got a call from my agent saying, 'There's some possible interest in you for Bond, are you interested?'” he said at the time.

“At the time, I wasn't. I was about to shoot 'X-Men 2' and Wolverine had become this thing in my life. But I think every male at some point thinks about playing Bond. So it was not right then, but it may be right if it comes back.”

‘I thought it would box me in too much,’ Jackman explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

‘My natural instinct is to keep as many doors open as possible.’

Though many actors who have played 007 have gone on to be successful in other roles, virtually none have really ever shaken off Bond.

Daniel Craig may prove the exception however having garnered award nods for roles in Infamous and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo in between his work on the Bond films.

Jackman recently joked that if he was asked to play the spy again his answer might be different.

‘I will just wait. The thing about Daniel is that he’s, what, 62 now, isn’t he? He’s falling apart at the seams,’ Jackman told Digital Spy. ‘So I just keep telling him, ‘I’m ready, whenever you want to let him go’. The good thing is I also have a British passport.’

Skyfall is the most successful Bond movie to date, with both Craig and director Sam Mendes expected to return for the next movie.

Chris Tucker is unofficial king of this thread lol. He turned down Lethal Weapon 4 (Chris Rock), Any Given Sunday (Jamie Foxx), Black Knight (Martin Lawrence), Knight and Day (Tom Cruise), Django (Jamie Foxx), Tower Heist (not Eddie but Maythew Broderick part), and can add the Friday movies also smh

" O.J. Simpson had also been considered as the Terminator but Cameron felt he was “too nice” to play a killing machine."

How ironic.

So Chapelle thought the role was demeaning but changed his mind after seeing how successful it was?

I caught that too. Hypocritical bastid. And Ice Cube not wanting to be stupid when he's playing a retard? :dunno:

Nigga please

We woulda owned that matrix movie

Furious styles and will smith????

:itsawrap:

I read if Will Smith was Neo, Val Kilmer was at the top of the list to be Morpheus. Imagine Jada Pinkett as Trinity.

Naw its all fact. You think hollywood didnt wanna capitalize off that nigga after them Rush Hour movies did numbers?

Famo, I'm happy for Chris Tucker, make them fucks pay you, but "Rush Hour 3", for which he got paid 30 mil, didn't do anywhere near the numbers of "Rush Hour 2", trust fam that while they were still offering him roles, NOBODY else was offering him 30 mil!

His body of work simply doesn't support that quote for anything else besides another "Rush Hour" sequel!

You know it, dude turned down all of the "Friday" sequels because they went against his new found morality, yet now he's the impetus for trying to resurrect the franchise!

You right. I was responding to dude who said he cant believe Tucker turned down all them roles. Most of them offers were between Rush Hour 1and 2.

Van Damme was a body double in the Predator though. Namely the part where he's running to get Carl Weathers

Be careful who you root for in movies. Sometimes, we root for people who don't have our best interest in mind and are clueless to why we are conditioned to do so. Don't be fooled by all of the non-white people in prominent roles in the Matrix. They are not non-white people. The machines/programs are representations of black/non-white people. The humans are representations of white people. Neo is supposed to be the ideal representative of a non-white person whom white people deem suitable i.e. if only the rest were like him we wouldn't have this race problem.

Just watch Animatrix. List of stuff most people don't know about concerning the Matrix films:

- The first machine to revolt against his master.

Supreme level clowning by white people

B166-ER (not only is that close to n*gger but the name of Richard Wright's charter from Native Son, Bigger Thomas). They use a Dred Scott* type decision on machine rights to justify his destruction. B166-ER cleaned toilets and was nicknamed shitskin. Shitskin is a racial slur for black people.

300px-B166er.jpg

- The Million Machine March

=====

Always remember, white people hide things in plain sight and are always trying to clown non-white people. There's a reason why they wanted Connery and Smith in those roles at first.

* = "beings of an inferior order, and altogether unfit to associate with the white race, either in social or political relations, and so far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect" - Chief Justice Roger B. Taney

She played a stereotype, no different than a black woman playing a mammie or hooker. It's trite at this point.
