The IRS hit Floyd so hard that it looked like he didn't even fight Shane. Therefore, Floyd didn't want to take another tax hit twice in one year.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER SR.: "THE ONLY REASON THEY DIDN'T MAKE THE FIGHT..."
By Percy Crawford | July 27, 2010

"One thing for sure is Floyd is not scared of Pacquiao. That's one thing for sure. Everybody needs to get that straight; that's straight and to the point. Floyd is not scared of Pacquiao. That's the last guy he's scared of in boxing, but the whole thing is, man, the money Lil Floyd done made and the money he would get fighting Pacquiao, think about it. Make a million dollars in one year and see what Uncle Sam gonna do to you. So that's what I'm talking about. Make $100 million in one year and see what Uncle Sam gonna do. It would be like he aint never fought Shane. I'm telling you the real deal of how it is," stated Floyd Mayweather Sr. as he shared his thoughts on the reason why a fight between his son and Manny Pacquiao won't be happening this year. As usual, you don't want miss what else Mayweather Sr. had to say about Pacquiao and much more. Check it out!

PC: How is everything going, man?

FM: Everything is good.

PC: Give me your thoughts on the way that things played out between your son and Manny Pacquiao.

FM: My thing is I look at it like this here, man. One thing for sure is Floyd is not scared of Pacquiao. It would be like he ain't never fought Shane. I'm telling you the real deal of how it is. That is the only reason they didn't make the fight. The fight's gonna still happen. I'm pretty sure about that. It may not happen right away this year, but it's going to happen. I'm telling you the reason why. I don't know what he [Floyd Mayweather] gonna tell you, but I know the reason why. If they gonna take away the money he made when he fought Shane, then why would he fight this year?

PC: Manny Pacquiao is set to face Antonio Margarito for the vacant 154-pound title, but Pacquiao wants the fight to take place at 150...

FM: (CUtting in) He want to do what now?

PC: Pacquiao-Margarito for the 154-pound title at 150. What do you think about that?

FM: Ah man, that's bullshit! That's bullshit! How in the fuck they gonna dictate...this ain't nothing but scrutiny, man. That's all it is man. If people can't see what's going on, man, this man can make people lose weight and make them struggle to make weight. Motherfucker, if you can fight that motherfucking good and you knocking all these big motherfuckers out, step up! That's what he is supposed to do, step up! That show you he ain't knocking out the real men he's supposed to be knocking out anyway. Whatever the condition is, he still makes them drop pounds still. Even with all of the bullshit, he still makes them drop weight. Man, look here man, how they gonna dictate a weight? What is this? What in the hell is going on with boxing? That's what I want to know. Anytime you can get a little motherfucking short Filipino come in and call shots like this, you goddamn right this motherfucker can be the mayor, President or whoever the fuck he supposed to be over there. He definitely ain't nowhere near the pound-for-pound king, but he is the catchweight king. He got that title.

PC: Do you think Margarito has a shot at beating Pacquiao?

FM: Man, let me tell you something. I'm gonna tell you right now, if he lose the weight, Margarito, he getting his ass whooped. He lose the weight, he getting his ass whooped. Pacquiao would whoop his ass without the weight loss, if we being for real. What can I say? He the man (laughing). Pacquiao is the man (laughing harder).

PC: Let's switch gears and talk about other things going on in boxing. What do you think of the Super Six tourney?

FM: I think Andre Ward is going to have a pretty good fight with Dirrell. Not that Ward not gonna win, but I think he will have a much better fight than he had with Alan Green. Shit, Alan Green is green and I ain't talking about no damn money. I'm talking about green like a piece of shit green. He looked like he ain't never fought before.

PC: What about the 140-pound division? Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander are hot fighters. You like either of those guys?

FM: I know Bradley just went up to fight and Alexander fighting pretty soon, right?

PC: Yup, on the 7th.

FM: I like Bradley as a fighter, man, but at welterweight...I'm going to tell you the honest truth man, I went to sleep on the fight. And then I got up and was looking at it again and tried to finish off where I left off and I went on about my business, man. That fight wasn't nothing, man. I hope he ain't talking about fighting Lil Floyd with that? He better leave that welterweight class alone. If he want to get paid, he better stay where he at. Ain't nothing going on with him and Lil Floyd with that.

PC: You staying busy these days?

FM: I'm just working with Fernando [Vargas] and everything is looking good. I'm getting ready to quit boxing real soon.

PC: Really?

FM: Yeah, I'm getting ready to quit boxing. One thing is mainly because of my lungs. My lungs man...I just had a brother pass not too long ago and I'm not trying to follow them tracks. Let me tell you something man, I do like living. Whatever happens, either way, I came out of prison and made a mark for myself. I can take care of myself and I'm good. What I want to do is write a couple of books and be cool.

PC: You have lived an interesting life my man, so that would be a good look for you to put it in print.

FM: I got a lot more to tell than what I told you down here, believe me. Don't worry about it though man, we will get a chance to hook up and go over some things. I'm about to start...me and Floyd about to start walking around suited and booted now. I'm not going away right now, but it's going to be soon. It won't be too much longer. The one thing I wanted to do, and I attempted to do, was to make myself the best in the world and I did that and they can't take that away from me.

PC: I appreciate your time. I will hit you up later on in the week. Give the boxing fans something in closing.

FM: I'm going to tell you about Pacquiao. He's supposed to be the champion of the decade and all of that shit. All of the young people out there, please, whatever you do, don't take after this man. He's not a role model. First of all, if you're going to fight, be a real true champion and fight at the real weight class and don't have a problem with the pounds if you are the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world. There shouldn't be any issue with weight, pounds, or any of that. you're beating all of these big guys and knocking them out, making them quit, run, hide with they tails stuck between their legs and now, all of a sudden, you worrying about weight? Come on man. That's enough to be said. Ya'll figure out the rest!

That doesnt make sense though. It is not like fighting next year is going to change his tax bracket. Whether he fights this year or next year, he is going to be taxed at the same rate.

You see why an education is so necessary in life, don't you?:D

Floyd Sr. (and if this has any validity at all, Floyd Jr.) should really stick to boxing and let someone else make the financial decisions (isn't that what Ellerbe and Haymon are for?).

The Catchweight King LOL!

Sitting in a meeting while surfing BGOL? Who are you? Stanley from "The Office"?:D

Even the dumbest dummy knows something about something but when they try to expound on anything else, you end up sounding like...Floyd Sr.

I think Floyd is not giving a fuck about the outside world(fans and non fans) at all. He's probably at home playing X Box or something. The fans are the patsies for wasting time theorizing about who he can and cannot beat, when he will fight, etc. You can't treat Floyd like a regular fighter in that sense because he only comes out of his shell when he needs some money and when he comes out for that purpose he's seeking the smallest risk possible for the highest reward. FLoyd doesn't have a champion's pride like the guys before him that worried about beating the other champs, making defenses, pound for pound shit, etc. Floyd is just worried about getting paid when and how he feels like it and he probably does not give a fuck about absolutely anyone or anything else outside of his own nucleus. With a guy like that, the fans should realize that he cannot be treated like the other fighters that they are fans of. The best thing to do is forget Mayweather. To me he is more like some kind of an attraction that pops out every now and then to fight someone. Floyd does not appear to be a consistent participant in the boxing world.

If it is about taxes, his logic is stupid. The tax is a percentage of the pay, whether you make this year or not. Furthernore, if he fights this year, he will keep more of his money than he will next year when Obama allows the tax cuts for the rich to fade away. Floyd will be 34 next year. He should not underestimate the ravages of time. He should make as much money as he can and get out of the business.

What I fear, resulting from his reckless financial ways, is that he will spend all his money, come back to boxing, spend it and come back. He will be 40, have made $300 million in his career and be in the position of Mike Tyson...

I don't disagree with any of that and I don't see it as a negative.
His whole goal when he left Top Rank was to be an attraction and not be a "regular" fighter. There are thousands of fighters, few attractions.

But the guys who have been attractions over the years have still been fighters, Leonard, Ali, Tyson...

But the guys who have been attractions over the years have still been fighters, Leonard, Ali, Tyson...

And they all, save Mike, engaged in savvy matchmaking from time to time.
Leonard fought the biggest attractions of his day and they were usually the best fighters as well but he wasn't fighting Aaron Pryor if "The Hawk" slapped him momma and fucked his wife in his son's bed. And he made sure he timed his fight with Hagler right. At first he preferred retirement to fighting Hagler but then after the Mugabe fight, he was ready for him. I see you, Sugar. And I say that as a huge Sugar Ray Leonard mark.
Ali fought the biggest attractions of his day and they were usually the best fighters too but the only reason he fought Joe Frazier a third time is because he thought Joe was done. And what the fuck was the excuse for fighting Leon Spinks so quick. He deserved to lose.
Now Mike Tyson is unassailable. He fought whoever they put in the ring.
If Floyd played the nice guy role that Arum wanted for him in the 90s, many of the same people that criticize him would be defending him as they do Pacquiao and as they did De La Hoya (not you, merce. You bang on all of them. You see through the shit).

:lol::lol: No one escapes the wrath of the Johnny Walker. I'm just totally anti bullshit ma dude, no matter who is spewing it.

I hear you with Leonard and most definitely agree but dude proved his mettle in fights with Benitez, Hearns and the first Duran fight, that's what I meant by fighter. Plus I'm sure his camp - Dundee and them cats were in the know about Panama Lewis and Aaron's questionable practices and as we now know, Luis Resto blew the whistle on them dudes.
Ali had his wars but truly still fought every heavyweight worth fighting, and Mike like you said would fight anyone they put in front of him, he was just a fucking monster. I don't see that in Floyd, dude fights to maintain his 0 - and I feel him because truth be told, to the laymen, it IS his only attraction. I mean you and I and most the dudes on here know we're watching some special shit when he's boxing, but to the layman, he's running, they wanna see his ass laid flat because he fights like a "coward".
The 0 equals his attraction - it's what enables him to talk shit and play the bad guy, if he loses that, he's truly done, he won't risk it. And the funny/sad thing about it - I don't think anyone that he could realistically fight(no outlandish weights or matchups) can beat him.

He probably meant something else here... I was rolling when I read it...like Floyd..wtf you talking about man  Floyd Sr is always good for a laugh

Yep. If boxing was more like UFC, as it used to be, there would be money for Floyd Mayweather to fight Berto or Bradley or any other good name. But as it is, the risk (anything can happen) isn't worth the reward.

He probably meant something else here... I was rolling when I read it...like Floyd..wtf you talking about man  Floyd Sr is always good for a laugh

:lol:Yeah, what the fuck was that! I couldn't even figure what word he wanted to say. You have to love old ass countrified, hood niggas.

I wish boxing would go back to the days of the best boxers getting the biggest draw. The way it is going boxing is fucked cause now all you have to do is be a character and have some calculated wins.
