How does that fit into this? Others can call you the greatest in a team sport but you can't? Shouldn't that argument extend to other people calling someone the greatest in a team sport as well? After all a certain number 23 gets that nod because of "individual" accolades and accomplishments in a "team" sport.

The sensible one should be the player. THEY (unlike LeBron) realize their success was achieved with the help of others. Ever saw Jordan's video discussing who is the GOAT? He clearly says, it's about the best team and he flaunts his rings and the team record. His challenge to all potential usurpers is simple. Beat the team and then talk shit.

I don't think there's anything wrong in saying it, as long as you can show evidence to back up why you think you might be greater than another player. In the end, it's his opinion and everyone should "think" they are the greatest.

Ali used to say he was the greatest of all time all the time when he was still boxing. Every chance he got. If there was a mic in his face chances are he said it. So why is it now bad for business for an athlete to say that they're the goat? Wait I know why.... Because another number 23's legacy is being called into question when LeBron makes that claim. Now if anybody can give me a logical reason why one athlete can say it and another can't I'd love to hear it. Key word is logical.
