Anyone can look up Wikipedia. What is the difference between the Fairness Doctrine and the Equal Time Rule? How do they hinder free speech?
1. You are telling a company that they HAVE to have a different source of an opinion. For example, Rush/Hannity have to have an Olbermann either in their studio, or as a show opposite of Rush/Hannity. Plus, the FCC has to allow the certain radio show a license. Who to say that the FCC *during certain political pressure* would allow ANY station to carry Rush/Hannity anyway?
Not to mention, a lot of talk radio stations would have to change format due to NOT wanting to go through the FCC hand ringing.
Censoring by bureaucracy.
2. Didn't I just say the "equal time rule" was a precursor to the fairness doctrine. It's like the League of Nations was the precursor to the UN.
