(D-Calif.) said Wednesday she supports a bill that would establish a commission to study and consider reparations for African-Americans regarding slavery.

The resolution, which was reintroduced last year by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas), currently has 35 co-sponsors, though Pelosi's backing could help lead to more widespread support among the House Democratic Caucus.

"As you probably are aware, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee has legislation to study this issue, and I support that," Pelosi said in response to a question about reparations during an event at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

The Democratic leader tied studying reparations to a litany of other issues involving inequality, including affordable education and health care, among other issues.

"One of the things that we can do not only just in terms of trying to make up for a horrible, sinful thing that happened in our country in terms of slavery, but for our country to live up to who we think we are," she said.

"We have to reduce the disparity in income in our country, we have to reduce the disparity in access to education in an affordable way in our country, reduce the health disparities in our country ... so while we're studying how we deal with the reparations issue, there's plenty we can do to improve the quality of life of many people in our country," she said.

Pelosi's office declined to offer additional comment.

Democratic leaders including former President Obama and 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton have previously said they do not support the policy, which supporters say is necessary to address the history of slavery in the U.S. Experts say such a policy could cost several trillion dollars.

"We have to be honest that people in this country do not start from the same place or have access to the same opportunities," Harris said in a statement last week. "I'm serious about taking an approach that would change policies and structures and make real investments in black communities."

 They going to 'study' it. That's what happens when they know the votes are in the bag. They ain't going to study shit for those illegals. They DO. While they 'studying' reparations for slavery, take a look at Jim Crow and Jim Crow 2. That's just for people who say cac fuckery is so far in the past.

They just think black voters holding them accountable will blow over and that the propaganda about bots will kill black criticism.

You're correct

This week they're "prepared" to study

Next week...

This is exactly what Marianne Williamson said in her interview with Antonio Moore. She talks about how establishment candidates co-opt the language by saying things like "a pathway to so-and-so" without ever actually addressing the issue.

The study is needed.
Whatever the number is, it won’t be enough.
It will never see the floor.

Why would they address it? They got a virtual army of diehard shills already starting the  "Russian Bot!" campaign. They about to wait it out. They have faith in their ability to manipulate the easiest voting demographic to work in this country.

ADOS has its work cut out. A lot of black folks have sold their soul for the party.

brother gene they are really going to find out the power of the Ados black vote...lol. It's real out there

I hate shit like this,of course the idea of reparations isn't new but when a group of people vote for the same party and not get anything it's a problem...The Democrats are willing to give every other group what they want but tell black people, they can't do it because [INSERT EXCUSES].

What’s your solution?

We are going on 4 plus years of you all trying to convince people not to vote democratic.

Republicans control the majority of the government...it worked.

Hypothetically, every democratic in office signed a blood oath to implement every demand by you, Soul, and Gene. Nothing would get past the republican controlled Senate, President, and Supreme Court. Then what?

Oh yea, I found it comical how you and Soul accused people on this board for always making excuses for Democrats. Outright lie. Every Democrat on this board has spoken negatively about Democrats.

@Soul On Ice has never spoken negatively about Republicans. NEVER

How about holding the Democrats accountable....All this Republican control doesnt stop the Democrats for giving Hispanics, Jews and Native Americans what they want yet when comes to us,they'll make any excuse why we cant get what we want..

Hell, this country gives billions of dollars to Israel every year yet the Democrats have no problem doing it.

This is what I don’t understand.

None of that will change by not electing Democrats. It will change by electing the right Democrats.

Come correct or dont come at all.

MIAMI COLOR OF WEALTH REPORT SHOWS STAGGERING GAP IN LIQUID WEALTH: NATIVE BLACKS WORTH $11.00, CARIBBEANS WORTH $2,000

*The new Color of Wealth report evaluating the City of Miami, Florida has just been released and it shows some interesting data to say the least. The report showed a overwhelmingly large gap in wealth held by white residents of Miami when compared to others.
  • White households median net worth was an estimated $107,000.
  • Native Black American households median net worth was $3,700.
  • Black Caribbean households median net worth was $12,000.
  • Cuban households median net worth was $22,000.
Effectively mirroring the national gap in wealth whites hold over blacks. Yet, where the report got even more interesting is in the gap in wealth between native black Americans, and Caribbeans. The middle ADOS or native black family was found to hold a mere $11.00 liquid (cash stocks), while the middle Caribbean family in Miami had $2,000 liquid. Meaning Caribbeans in Miami hold a staggering 181 times the liquid wealth of American Descendants of Slavery.

One of the founders of the movement #ADOS or American Descendants of Slavery Yvette Carnell had this to say about the reports findings:

“This only further demonstrates the cost of American Slavery isn’t held in families based on their complexion, but is based on a lineage that roots itself in coming from American chattel slavery.”

The picture of blackness is getting clearer as reports tell us more of the gaping differences between groups within race. While it is still clear White America holds an overwhelming majority of the wealth, these reports are showing its not enough to just say were all doing the same in America due to blackness.
