Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

Call it what it is. Kendrick is pulling a Tupac: sparking beef on wax for attention and sales. This isn't about the purity of competition in Rap. This is about relevance. This is Pretty Boy Floyd (good kid, great boxer, little attention) flipping his persona to Money Mayweather (bad guy, greater boxer, biggest draw in the business). Great marketing strategy. At least he did it with a verse and not just a tweet. Let the games begin.

Xxxxxxx

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

very good analysis. im not even into mainstream rap but i seen yall cats on here talkin bout Lamar's verse like crazy so i said 'damn lemme peep it'. as a NY cat, i take no offense to what he said, honestly i really dont see da big deal in his verse (as far as NY cats gettin all salty and catchin feelings). he REALLY came hard wit it and he officially put cats on notice. NY cats wanna be outraged NOW? busy catchin feelings on twitter and wanna rep hard NOW? Go HEAD wit dat bullshit man...NY got caught sleepin, simple & plain. Definitely good for da game, either way he fuckin WINNNING! And i'm not even a fan like dat, but I give props when its due. MASTERFUL fuckin play by Kendrick Lamar, he KILLED it. Wake up call like a MUTHAFUKA! Step ya fuckin game up!

P.S. On a side note, Joell Ortiz came HARD wit his response...

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

No prob with what Lamar said

The problem is he said he the king of NY

That's a no no and effectively Ortiz spanked him

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? :dunno: Ortiz blacked out on his response track, so did Cassidy and King Los, but it's Kendrick's moment. He's on some Parker Lewis shit. Can't lose.

I think this is a publicity stunt! Why the fuck would big sean put out a track with someone calling him and Jay Electronica out? If I was big sean, Kendrick's verse would have been cut! This is a set up and all them dudes are in on it!

Ortiz was aigght - typcal played out NYC battle rappin ass nigga. Joell Ortiz was on 10 the whole time. Rappers on 10 the whole time are one-dimensional. Kendrick has dynamic range and depth.

Ortiz went sideways on the kid without blinkin. Opened up with the classic, "I aint even gotta give this too much thought..." :smh:

You knew it was on then and Ortiz proceeded to calmly throw ham fisted punches until the bell rung.

"When we met you said, "it's an honor, man, the YAOWA man can spit
Maybe thats why you left me out of that shit.."

Kendrick tactically knew not to go after Ortiz or Slaughterhouse, cause pound for pound, he aint on these dudes level when it comes to lyrics.

"It was brave, you took a chance like a Monopoly card
But that telly you trying to check in, that property's ours.."

These were just battle raps, and he damn near KO'd him. Ortiz's response was the perfect opener. Not too much, but enough to put Lamar in his place.

Now wait till he hones in...

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

Here is the problem for these rappers. The collective hip hop pen game has been lazy for over a decade and the only cats that are still nice with it are pretty much unknown by most people that are claiming to be hip hop heads so they will go unnoticed for the most part.

Why? Because "fans" have been willing to consume bullshit for so long that most don't even know what a hot bar sounds like to even judge whether any of these verses rival what Kendrick did... People are still trying to argue these cult of personality angles like sales and they will immediately be swayed by the buzz Kendrick has so they won't even hear most of these responses out. The actual targets named in the "control" verse have been relying on the fans sheep-like behavior but the irony is that they can't win this battle based on that so they have to either rap or ignore it.

The only winning option is put out a CLASSIC album soon and address Kendrick on there some where. Even if fans try to give Kendrick winner of the popularity contest, the album will be the bigger statement and then that puts the presser back on Kendrick when he is going to have a hard time surpassing his own work from previous projects.

yep...bombed first so to speak...it's gonna take damn near an epic response to draw away from his spotlight...I don't think this is an attempt to "save hip hop" or elevate any other rapper's game...dude is very serious about tryna establish himself as the best of his "class" + he sure as hell set it off right

ortiz effort was good but nobody was put into place for the simple fact that kendrick hasn't responded yet.

once he responds and if those bars don't go toe to toe with ortiz then we can throw out those :itsawrap:

exactly

people trying to downplay it or act like its a publicity stunt.. ask yourself, why does kendrick lamar need a publicity stunt with the year he's having?

shit big sean need to make sure he DOES put that on his album just cause of what it did...

Re: 9th Wonder & Young Guru Debate/Explain Why Kendrick Lamar CANNOT LOSE At This Poi

J.O. is irrelevant in this whole ordeal... his rebuttal was dope but he not on K dots radar... though i would like to see what Crooked I would have to say... but this not a battle royal

Kendrick didn't name drop niggas who get no radio play. That's why he didn't say shit about slaughter house lmao, c'mon y'all.

You make no sense

Radio play or not when you say you king of NY expect niggas to come for your head despite who you named specifically.

Ortiz sonned Lamar period and that shit was light work

I don't expect the niggas that Lamar named to respond cause them niggas soft baked cookies like that
