Did you bring his gun to school? Did he teach you gun safety?

What part of what I said was confusing.

Who wants irresponsible people to have access to guns?

Not once did my father ever tell me not to bring a gun to school. My father never taught no dam gun safety. Loaded the guns up at the truck before we went hunting and unloaded when we came out the woods. My pops had a revolver in the cabinet he never spoke on. I knew it was there and didn't do no dumb shit with it. Tell me again how a gun law is gone change that?

Does anyone know this kid's race? Since it happened in Newport News and based on the school admins' names I assumed he was Black. But someone from VA told me that they thought the kid was white because of how easy they are going on him and his family. Also, didn't this same kid choke out a teacher last year? How can a 5 year old kid choke out a teacher? How big is this kid? I read something about the kid taking the gun out of his backpack before it was checked and hiding it in his pocket? What 6 year old kid can fit a gun in his pocket?

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — The mother of a 6-year-old Virginia boy who shot and wounded his teacher had a series of miscarriages and post-partum depression in the year before the shooting, her attorney said Friday, after she was arraigned on charges of child neglect and failing to secure the handgun her son used in the shooting.

Police say the boy fired a single shot at his first-grade teacher, Abigail Zwerner, on Jan. 6, striking her in the left hand and chest. She spent two weeks in the hospital and has had four surgeries since the shooting.

The Associated Press is not identifying the mother to shield the identity of her son. A grand jury indicted the mother this week, and she was released on a $5,000 bond after turning herself in Thursday.

The 25-year-old woman appeared somber and stood with her hands clasped behind her back as the two charges against her were read in Newport News Circuit Court. She did not speak except to say “no, sir” in response to a question from the judge. After the hearing, she quickly walked away from a scrum of reporters and TV cameras without commenting.

Her attorney, James Ellenson, said his client wants to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors and hopes they will consider what he called “mitigating circumstances.” He cited a number of miscarriages the woman had, including one following an ectopic pregnancy that resulted in a hospital stay in January 2022. An ectopic pregnancy occurs when a pregnancy develops outside the uterus, often in a fallopian tube. Ellenson said the miscarriages resulted in post-partum depression.

“We’re looking forward to working collaboratively with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office to resolve the charges,” Ellenson said, adding that he is hoping for “something that is fair, something that is just.”

Ellenson has requested a trial before a judge instead of a jury. A trial date of Aug. 15 has been set.

The felony neglect charge is punishable by up to five years in prison. The misdemeanor charge of recklessly storing a firearm is punishable by up to one year in jail.

Ellenson has said the mother believed her gun, which was legally purchased, was secured on a top shelf in her closet and had a trigger lock. It is unclear how the boy got the gun and was able to take it to school on the day of the shooting.

Zwerner filed a $40 million lawsuit against the school system last week, accusing school officials of gross negligence and of ignoring multiple warnings from teachers and others in the hours before the shooting that the boy had a gun.

The city prosecutor’s office said Tuesday that it is investigating whether the “actions or omissions” of any school employees could lead to criminal charges.

Ellenson said the boy has an “acute disability” and was under a care plan that included his mother, father or grandfather accompanying him to class every day. The week of the shooting was the first when a parent was not in class with him.

No name at all... She identify herself as white.

Deja Taylor, 25, entered a guilty plea on accusations that she lied about her marijuana use on a form when purchasing the gun her son used in the nearly fatal Richneck Elementary shooting. During the investigation following the incident, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched Taylor’s home and found 24.5 grams of marijuana, the report says.

Prosecutors also said Taylor’s record showed she was pulled over by local police in 2021, and authorities found marijuana cereal bars next to her son. Though, Taylor denied any knowledge of the drugs in the car in the courtroom.

Taylor’s attorneys agreed to a plea agreement with the prosecutors that includes a sentence of 18 to 24 months in prison.

“Miss Taylor’s role in this tragedy is a complete accident and a complete mistake,” said attorney Gene Rossi. “She takes full responsibility for her son’s actions and will feel guilt for the rest of her life.”

NEWPORT NEWS — Shortly after a 6-year-old boy shot his teacher at Richneck Elementary School on Jan. 6, a reading specialist was restraining him in the ensuing chaos.

Students ran out of the classroom, as did the bleeding Zwerner. But a school “reading specialist” who had heard the gunshot, Amy Kovac, ran in.

“I shot that b**** dead,” the boy said, according to court documents. “I did it.”

Kovac saw the 6-year-old standing by his desk, with a loaded 9 mm handgun on the floor nearby, the affidavit said. She grabbed him and held him in place until police arrived. After making the statements that he had shot Zwerner, the boy also told Kovac that he “got his mom’s gun last night,” the affidavit said.

According to the affidavit, Kovac told detectives that two students in Zwerner’s class told her before the shooting that the 6-year-old had a gun in his book bag. “While the classroom went to recess, Ms. Kovac and a school administrator searched (the boy’s) book bag but did not find a gun,” the affidavit said.

On Jan. 23 detectives also interviewed a retired Newport News schoolteacher named Susan White.

White told detectives that in September 2021, while the boy was in kindergarten, he walked up behind her while she was sitting in her chair. White told detectives the boy “placed both of his arms around her neck, pulling down, choking her to the point she could not breathe,” the affidavit said.

The boy, who recently turned 7, is not charged with a crime, given that Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney Howard Gwynn said he’s too young to have formed the criminal intent to be charged with it. He’s now in the custody of his great-grandfather, who said he’s thriving and attending school elsewhere.

The boy’s mother, Deja Nicole Taylor, pleaded guilty in Newport News federal court to a felony charge of having a firearm while also possessing marijuana and also to a felony charge of lying on a federal background check form when she bought the gun. She also has a guilty plea hearing scheduled for Circuit Court next week on a felony child neglect charge and a misdemeanor count of allowing a child access to a firearm.

I don't even know what to say.

But damn

“I shot that b**** dead,” the boy said, according to court documents. “I did it.”
I mean it's overkill at this point, put the little boy away for awhile but make sure more than anything that he recieves the help he needs and what the mother needs that's going to help her be a better mother to him because if he grows up in a facility that's not going to help him at all and it's going to create a monster who's going to be free one day.

The teacher suing for 40million dollars is crazy but she deserves a few but she knew the type of children she was dealing with, everyday she walked into the building her theme music was playing "Welcome tooooo the jungle......" just that day his music was louder when he entered the building too snoop dogg "blam blam"...."If it ain't one thing it's a motherfucking nother, word to my granny, daddy and my mother,Standing on the corner or bouncing in a six duece, when I was locked up I couldn't wait to get loose....".lol

I wish em all the best.....

Mom needs to be locked up for more than 5 years. Shit is fuckin ridiculous. Bitch rasing another Damien Omen.

A six-year-old? Yeah, it's on the parents. Big fucking difference between a teenager and a six-year-old shooting someone. As someone who keeps guns and has for decades, you ain't shit if you let your six-year-old get your gun. And the way the kid talked? ALL PARENTING.

Fine hold the parent accountable, and I hate that it was someone black but the law is the law. Now they need to go back and hold them white school shooters accountable and lock them up too.

"When I was six, I shot the teacher in the chest
It ain't my fault, bitch shoulda wore a vest
Its class dismissed hoe, if you don't do what I say
'Cause even at recess time, bitch, I don't play"
---------Lil' Dhurt Bagg of Da Badd Applez

Too soon?
Yeah, I know. I'm an asshole.
This is serious. Yadda, yadda, yadda...

This is not directly a gun rights issue in-so-much as it is a gun access issue.
There are millions of guns in the homes of many people with children who don't do shit like this.
Clearly, the parent/owner of the gun is at fault. No six-year old should even be able to find the gun, much less take it to school.

Where a 6 year get a loadef gun bring it school take it off safety and aim fire and gravely injured a teacher

And folk STILL don't think gun laws are a problem?

Not everyone has the right to have a gun. People are barely responsible riding a
Is this a gun Law issue or an Irresponsibility issue on an adult.
