50% of Black Teen Girls have an STD NEW CDC STUDY

Repost and I don’t believe the numbers.

word. they would love for us to believe that shit. :hmm:

I'm gonna go head and call bullshit on this one.

838 girl sample from where?

When science meets racism.

Man where da fuck did they get them 838 stank ass hoes from??????????

This some bullshit right here.

:hmm:I DONT believe U ..U NEED MORE PEOPLE....I SMELL BS

If this were true, how then isn't HIV also being spread @ a higher rate?

:hmm:

Yep This Is All A Bunch Of Bullshit.one Thng I Lean In My Statistic Class In College Is Statistics Can Be Manipulated To Fit Any Research.

These little dudes better strap the hell up!! Sex for new students at HBCU's is a whole lot riskier than back in the days.

Some of them are but some of them lots of them are remote places where they are doing the same 2 guys they know while city broads are hooking up with new folks on the regular.

Actually, the trend tends to be opposite. STD's run RAMPANT when they get a foothold in small, closed communities like rural areas BECAUSE the same small group of people are all fucking each other. ALSO, you have to remember that the MAJORITY of black people in this country live in rural to medium sized cities in the South, not in large cities, so any stat assuming a sample taken someplace like say, NYC can honestly represent all black people is flawed from jump.

Also, these studies are usually done with the only people they can get to participate and they usually come from public health pools. The racial numbers are skewed as shit for things like abortion, HIV and STD's because if you have a private physician none of your medical information can be used without you volunteering it as opposed to someone who has to use the public health system where you are ALWAYS part of one anonymous stat or another. Public health is predominately in poorer urban areas.

AND

If you are not comparing racial groups at similar socio-economic levels, the samples are flawed (you can't take a sample of black girls from South Philly and compare it to a sample of white girls from Naperville, Illinois and call the sample "clean").

I could go on forever about the reasons why these stats cats love to quote are meaningless as shit 99% of the time and could literally run down 100 different ways I could structure this same study to get 100 different resutls, but I know cats don't care to know what's really real, so why bother.

This is not junk science. It's called statistics, and so very TRUE! Black teen girls are screwing left, right, up, down, sideways, 69, reverse cowgirl, doggy style etc.

You can watch their mating and initiation dance here: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=new+orleans+dribble&search_type=

How do you know the science behind this is legit, you haven't seen shit but an article. And that youtube link ain't very scientific either.

You ain't coming off as sounding much smarter than the other cat and his "weed" theory.

Samuel Cartwright, 1793-1863

In this article, "Diseases and Peculiarities of the Negro Race," Dr. Samuel Cartwright, a highly respected and widely published doctor from the University of Louisiana, discusses two diseases which he claims are unique to African Americans.

One is his newly-discovered "Drapetomania," a disease which causes slaves to run away;

the other, "Dysaethesia Aethiopica," a disease causing "rascality" in black people free and enslaved.

AIDS cases drop, but bad data to blame
By MARIA CHENG, AP Medical Writer Mon Nov 19, 9:51 PM ET

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071120/ap_on_he_me/global_aids
(link no longer active.. full article)

LONDON - The number of AIDS cases worldwide fell by more than 6 million cases this year to 33.2 million, global health officials said Tuesday. But the decline is mostly on paper.

Previous estimates were largely inflated, and the new numbers are the result of a new methodology. They show AIDS cases in 2007 were down from almost 39.5 million last year, according to the World Health Organization and the United Nations AIDS agency.

Although the decline is largely due to revised numbers, U.N. officials said it still showed the AIDS pandemic was losing momentum.

"For the first time, we are seeing a decline in global AIDS deaths," said Dr. Kevin De Cock, director of WHO's AIDS department.

The two agencies will issue their annual AIDS report Wednesday after convening an expert meeting last week in Geneva to examine their data collection methods.

Much of the drop is due to revised numbers from India — which earlier this year slashed its numbers in half, from about 6 million cases to about 3 million — and to new data from several countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Previous AIDS numbers were largely based on the numbers of infected pregnant women at clinics, as well as projecting the AIDS rates of certain high-risk groups like drug users to the entire population at risk. Officials said those numbers were flawed, and are now incorporating more data like national household surveys.

U.N. officials could not rule out future downward corrections. WHO and UNAIDS experts reported 2.5 million newly infected people in 2007. Just a few years ago, that figure was about 5 million.

While the global AIDS numbers are falling, there are huge regional differences. Sub-Sarahan Africa remains the epicenter of the epidemic. AIDS is still the leading cause of death in there, where it affects men, women and children. Elsewhere in the world, AIDS outbreaks are mostly concentrated in gay men, intravenous drug users, and sex workers.

But the U.N. said progress was being made, and that the global epidemic peaked in the late 1990s.

"There are some encouraging elements in the data," said De Cock. He said the dropping numbers were proof that some of the UN's strategies to fight AIDS were working.

Not everyone agrees. Some critics have accused the U.N. of inflating its AIDS numbers, and say the revised figures are long overdue.

"They've finally got caught with their pants down," said Dr. Jim Chin, a clinical professor of epidemiology at the University of California at Berkeley. Chin is a former WHO staffer and the author of "The AIDS Pandemic: The Collision of Epidemiology with Political Correctness."

He said that it was difficult to tell whether the lowered numbers were evidence that AIDS treatment and prevention strategies were working, or whether the decrease was just due to a natural correction of previous overestimates.

Even with the revised figures, "the numbers are probably still on the high side," said Daniel Halperin, an AIDS epidemiologist at the Harvard School of Public Health. Halperin attended the WHO/UNAIDS meeting last week that reviewed the figures, and said that the estimates were getting closer.

Chin and Halperin said AIDS officials may be reluctant to admit that fewer people are infected because it may translate into less funding for efforts to fight the disease.
"On the one hand, it would be a mistake to radically decrease funding for HIV," Halperin said. "But on the other hand, why not put more money into family planning or climate change?"

Other experts said that even with the decreased figures, much more is needed to stop the AIDS pandemic.

"We are still failing to respond to the crisis," said Dr. Paul Zeitz, executive director of the Global AIDS Alliance. "The overall prevalence of AIDS may have stabilized, but we are still seeing millions of new infections and it is not time yet to step back from this battle."

Yo, I'm not going to debate the cdc. I will tell you what I know.......

Just about every black female I know in this city (they range in spectrum from "upstanding" to "bucketmouts") has had an STD.

I remember doing IRS work a couple of years back and we were all sitting there and a STD convo popped up and all the chicks starting spouting off the diseases they've gotten like the shit was war wounds....

again not going to get into the political, but in the # of sistas I know......damn!

Nobody ever asks why black folks are SO studied as if we are a different species or some shit. Or why it has come to pass that ANY negative category is dominated by black folks and the numbers are usually outlandish as hell. These cats will go 10 pages about lizard people, secret societies and conspiracy theories and then get thrown some shit like this with NO SUBSTANTIATING DATA and call it gospel truth. Combine a bunch of these stats, you know 50% of this, 70% of that and you almost have to draw the conclusion that every black person in America is basically fucked, I mean there is danm near no room for error, every single one of us is screwed. Strong argument for us being somehow subhuman, violent, dishonest, oversexed, irresponsible animals and it's not like they haven't been trying to prove that for a few centuries. Throw some numbers behind the same old stereotypes and all of a sudden black folks buy into it.

They have already gotten onto the NAACP for citing poorly compiled false stats as fact.

Kaya and Zero if you two don't believe these stats then what do you believe about black females and STD's?

Disease rates were significantly higher among black girls — nearly half had at least one STD, versus 20 percent among both whites and Mexican-Americans.

That is absolute bull shit right there. You telling me as much as those Mexican whores be fucking like rabbits and have babies coming out of their ass like running water their STD rate is only 20%?
See these racist mother fuckers are not taking those nasty ass ilegals into account. And as many nasty white hoes I see...get the fuck out of here with this racist hogwash. Cracka mother fuckers.

This shit is straight conspiracy against the Black community.

Don't fall for the okey doke like we did with the The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment...............:smh:

The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment
The U.S. government's 40-year experiment on black men with syphilis

by Borgna Brunner

"The United States government did something that was wrong—deeply, profoundly, morally wrong. It was an outrage to our commitment to integrity and equality for all our citizens... clearly racist."

—President Clinton's apology for the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment to the eight remaining survivors, May 16, 1997

For forty years between 1932 and 1972, the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) conducted an experiment on 399 black men in the late stages of syphilis. These men, for the most part illiterate sharecroppers from one of the poorest counties in Alabama, were never told what disease they were suffering from or of its seriousness. Informed that they were being treated for “bad blood,” their doctors had no intention of curing them of syphilis at all.

The data for the experiment was to be collected from autopsies of the men, and they were thus deliberately left to degenerate under the ravages of tertiary syphilis—which can include tumors, heart disease, paralysis, blindness, insanity, and death. “As I see it,” one of the doctors involved explained, “we have no further interest in these patients until they die.”

Using Human Beings as Laboratory Animals

Taliaferro Clark
Taliaferro Clark, Head of the U.S. Public Health Service at the outset of the experiment.
The true nature of the experiment had to be kept from the subjects to ensure their cooperation. The sharecroppers' grossly disadvantaged lot in life made them easy to manipulate. Pleased at the prospect of free medical care—almost none of them had ever seen a doctor before—these unsophisticated and trusting men became the pawns in what James Jones, author of the excellent history on the subject, Bad Blood, identified as “the longest nontherapeutic experiment on human beings in medical history.”

The study was meant to discover how syphilis affected blacks as opposed to whites—the theory being that whites experienced more neurological complications from syphilis, whereas blacks were more susceptible to cardiovascular damage. How this knowledge would have changed clinical treatment of syphilis is uncertain.

Although the PHS touted the study as one of great scientific merit, from the outset its actual benefits were hazy. It took almost forty years before someone involved in the study took a hard and honest look at the end results, reporting that “nothing learned will prevent, find, or cure a single case of infectious syphilis or bring us closer to our basic mission of controlling venereal disease in the United States.”

When the experiment was brought to the attention of the media in 1972, news anchor Harry Reasoner described it as an experiment that “used human beings as laboratory animals in a long and inefficient study of how long it takes syphilis to kill someone.”

A Heavy Price in the Name of Bad Science

To ensure that the men would show up for a painful and potentially dangerous spinal tap, the PHS doctors misled them with a letter full of promotional hype: “Last Chance for Special Free Treatment.”

The fact that autopsies would eventually be required was also concealed.
By the end of the experiment, 28 of the men had died directly of syphilis, 100 were dead of related complications, 40 of their wives had been infected, and 19 of their children had been born with congenital syphilis. How had these men been induced to endure a fatal disease in the name of science?

To persuade the community to support the experiment, one of the original doctors admitted it “was necessary to carry on this study under the guise of a demonstration and provide treatment.” At first, the men were prescribed the syphilis remedies of the day—bismuth, neoarsphenamine, and mercury— but in such small amounts that only 3 percent showed any improvement.

These token doses of medicine were good public relations and did not interfere with the true aims of the study. Eventually, all syphilis treatment was replaced with “pink medicine”—aspirin.

To ensure that the men would show up for a painful and potentially dangerous spinal tap, the PHS doctors misled them with a letter full of promotional hype: “Last Chance for Special Free Treatment.” The fact that autopsies would eventually be required was also concealed.

As a doctor explained, “If the colored population becomes aware that accepting free hospital care means a post-mortem, every darky will leave Macon County...” Even the Surgeon General of the United States participated in enticing the men to remain in the experiment, sending them certificates of appreciation after 25 years in the study.

Following Doctors' Orders

It takes little imagination to ascribe racist attitudes to the white government officials who ran the experiment, but what can one make of the numerous African Americans who collaborated with them? The experiment's name comes from the Tuskegee Institute, the black university founded by Booker T. Washington. Its affiliated hospital lent the PHS its medical facilities for the study, and other predominantly black institutions as well as local black doctors also participated. A black nurse, Eunice Rivers, was a central figure in the experiment for most of its forty years.

Veterans' Administration Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama
The Veterans' Administration Hospital in Tuskegee, Alabama. Some of the study's post-mortem exams were conducted here.
The promise of recognition by a prestigious government agency may have obscured the troubling aspects of the study for some. A Tuskegee doctor, for example, praised “the educational advantages offered our interns and nurses as well as the added standing it will give the hospital.” Nurse Rivers explained her role as one of passive obedience: “we were taught that we never diagnosed, we never prescribed; we followed the doctor's instructions!”

It is clear that the men in the experiment trusted her and that she sincerely cared about their well-being, but her unquestioning submission to authority eclipsed her moral judgment. Even after the experiment was exposed to public scrutiny, she genuinely felt nothing ethical had been amiss.

One of the most chilling aspects of the experiment was how zealously the PHS kept these men from receiving treatment. When several nationwide campaigns to eradicate venereal disease came to Macon County, the men were prevented from participating. Even when penicillin—the first real cure for syphilis—was discovered in the 1940s, the Tuskegee men were deliberately denied the medication.

During World War II, 250 of the men registered for the draft and were consequently ordered to get treatment for syphilis, only to have the PHS exempt them. Pleased at their success, the PHS representative announced: “So far, we are keeping the known positive patients from getting treatment.” The experiment continued in spite of the Henderson Act (1943), a public health law requiring testing and treatment for venereal disease, and in spite of the World Health Organization's Declaration of Helsinki (1964), which specified that “informed consent” was needed for experiments involving human beings.

Blowing the Whistle

The PHS did not accept the media's comparison of Tuskegee with the experiments performed by Nazi doctors on Jewish victims during World War II. Yet the PHS offered the same defense offered at the Nuremberg trials — they were just carrying out orders.
The story finally broke in the Washington Star on July 25, 1972, in an article by Jean Heller of the Associated Press. Her source was Peter Buxtun, a former PHS venereal disease interviewer and one of the few whistle blowers over the years. The PHS, however, remained unrepentant, claiming the men had been “volunteers” and “were always happy to see the doctors,” and an Alabama state health officer who had been involved claimed “somebody is trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.”

Under the glare of publicity, the government ended their experiment, and for the first time provided the men with effective medical treatment for syphilis. Fred Gray, a lawyer who had previously defended Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King, filed a class action suit that provided a $10 million out-of-court settlement for the men and their families. Gray, however, named only whites and white organizations as defendants in the suit, portraying Tuskegee as a black and white case when it was in fact more complex than that—black doctors and institutions had been involved from beginning to end.

The PHS did not accept the media's comparison of Tuskegee with the appalling experiments performed by Nazi doctors on their Jewish victims during World War II. Yet in addition to the medical and racist parallels, the PHS offered the same morally bankrupt defense offered at the Nuremberg trials: they claimed they were just carrying out orders, mere cogs in the wheel of the PHS bureaucracy, exempt from personal responsibility.

The study's other justification—for the greater good of science—is equally spurious. Scientific protocol had been shoddy from the start. Since the men had in fact received some medication for syphilis in the beginning of the study, however inadequate, it thereby corrupted the outcome of a study of “untreated syphilis.”

Clinton's Apology for the Experiment

In 1990, a survey found that 10 percent of African Americans believed that the U.S. government created AIDS as a plot to exterminate blacks, and another 20 percent could not rule out the possibility that this might be true. As preposterous and paranoid as this may sound, at one time the Tuskegee experiment must have seemed equally farfetched.

Who could imagine the government, all the way up to the Surgeon General of the United States, deliberately allowing a group of its citizens to die from a terrible disease for the sake of an ill-conceived experiment? In light of this and many other shameful episodes in our history, African Americans' widespread mistrust of the government and white society in general should not be a surprise to anyone.

Was it a child agancy who commissioned the study?

Do you notice the part about HPV vaccination?

Don't you think the vaccine manufacturers have lobbyists who pay to have these things put into mainstream media.

Do you notice the date the survey was done?

Why bring it out now?

How could we as black people not ask relevant questions????

So if you don't believe what the CDC says about black women and STD's then what do you believe about black women and STD's.

For the third time.:hmm:

I don’t doubt that Black folks have a disproportionally higher predilection to diseases, mostly due to the lack of access to medical care for whatever reasons. The health care gap is widely known. What I am saying is that this study is insinuating that Black folks are less moral than whites. As I have stated in the other thread about this same article that was posted by a Black hating white loving republican, Blacks don’t go in big numbers to Caribbean islands seeking sex and parties for college spring breaks away from their parents and media scrutiny and end up murdered from putting themselves in unsafe situations. These same whites have the money to send their children to expensive colleges and universities, provide top notch health care and if need be, send their precious little girls over the border for abortions, while labeling non whites as immoral. I do question the numbers because I don’t think 50% of Black female teens have ever seen a gynecologist, so how do they base their study?

Props to folks who called bullshaz on those studies. Every week blacks are hit with "the highest rate of this, the most likely to die from that".We don't have the resources or the labs to verify these studies, so we have to rely on info that comes from institutions that are hostile to our interests. I'm not saying these diseases aren't a problem, but I highly doubt its really as high as "they" claim.:hmm:

Even if the numbers may not be correct then does it hurt to teach children about protecting themselves.

That goes without saying, but having these ridiculous stats thrown at your kids constantly is NOT productive. Cats kill me saying bogus information doesn't matter, it does. If you are OK with the media giving your kids a million reasons to believe they will fail, that's on you. Why don't they do a study that explains why the SAME behaviors in black people seem to get a different result than they do in non-blacks (according to these studies). I have had the conversation a million times with friends of mine that we were told in the late 80's that like 70% (or some other ungodly HUGE number) of us would not make it to 25 alive, that half of us were supposed to be closet homos spreading HIV to the world, that damn near NONE of use were supposed to have fathers. that damn near ALL of us would do some jail time, etc, etc, etc. Funny thing is, none of us fell into ANY of those categories, so we don't exist statistically because there are so few of us statistically that there is just no way four or five of us could ever be in the same place at the same time and actually KNOW each other.

Funny how you didn't answer my question.

Cite some sources that make similar claims that 50% of all black teen girls have STDs, because those links you posted damn sure didnt.

I don't dispute African-Americans have more health problems. I disputed the source of the pool of women. Turns out this is from a government health survey.
Hmmmmm wonder where teenage women encounter government health surveys. Schools, jails or clinics? Which schools or clinics?

The question isn't if we have out of control problems. The question is what is the source of the data.

So if you don't believe what the CDC says about black women and STD's then what do you believe about black women and STD's.

For the third time.:hmm:

I believe that the STD rates in this study are grossly inflated and not based on good science. Show me the way the data was collected, without data those numbers don't mean a damn thing. I already gave a lengthy post as to just a few of the MANY ways this data can be manipulated.

Let me ask YOU a question, do you honestly believe that black people are at the top of EVERY negative statistic in this country? You don't question these numbers at all. I mean, in EVERY "study" black people don't lead by a few points, we are always double or triple the average rate for EVERYTHING and the projected percentages are ALWAYS outlandishly huge. Maybe you didn't read the article and just cosigned the title of the post, but it says HALF of all black girls between the ages of 14 and 19 that are sexually active (and it made a point of saying not just intercourse, but sexually active in ANY way) have had an STD. That is a bold statement that very few legitimate scientists would make without presenting some strong evidence. A survey of 800 non-descript girls from who knows where and in who knows what situation socially and economically is NOT strong enough evidence to run with this shit. Do you understand what kind of margin of error is involved when you take a sample of 800 people to represent 3 MILLION?

And what about the percentages, the article says NOTING about whether they broke the group down demographically based upon population numbers. What if 400 of the girls were black? Wouldn't that skew a bit since half of the population of teenage girls in that age bracket aren't black? What assumptions were made? Was it assumed that there are more sexually active black girls in that age group than white or hispanic? What scientific basis does that assumption have? If you don't know what percentage of white/black/hispanic girls are sexually active in that age group, you can't break the three groups down to extrapolate the numnbers out to an entire population. What was the geographic breakdown? Was this all done in a single metropolitan area. Were cross sections taken from across the country in rural, medium sized cities, suburban areas, metro areas. What income levels were the samples taken from? Like I said before, are they comparing poor black girls form South Philly to wealthy white girls form Vermont?

How many more questions would you like for me to ask? Or should I just take this BS on blind faith because it was published. The Bell Curve was published too.

I actually posted first, but I do believe it because the biggest factor was HPV not aids or a more common threatening virus. HPV can lay dormant much like some strains of Herpes. So if there no symptoms I can see how peopel walk around with it.

U can check for HPV. Most people who get an STD always find out by accident or unintentionally thru most likely a physical exam.

I would say about 50% of BGOL have some shit or the other that they don't know about lol.
