Reaction time is everything in sports. I'm pretty sure we can agree on that. Think of a play action pass. The defense calls a play. Their success is literally contingent on recognition. Now I say that NOT to validate his argument; he did mention skin color, ball color and uniform color but to lead into why his argument actually has MERIT.
I'm sure there are members in BV who have either played baseball or have kids play baseball. Pitchers aren't allowed to have long, white sleeves when they're on the mound. Why? Because the batter is at a disadvantage. While they can see the arm, seeing the ball (especially a higher velocity) is extremely difficult. That disadvantage is actually dangerous. Even without white long sleeve shirts batters are ducking and jumping out the box to avoid being hit. Now imagine not seeing the ball for even a fraction of a second.
The point of his comment was to focus on those three things coming together to camouflage the ball. In baseball that's precisely what a white long sleeve shirt would do for a pitcher. I'm not sure if that rule is applicable in MLB but the logic is still the same. My kid pitches. He's 14, 6'2" and 195lbs. You need to see the ball. Seriously.
