An Alabama man who has spent almost 36 years in prison after stealing $50 was released Friday under new sentencing guidelines that reset the state's three-strikes law.

Alvin Kennard, 58, had been serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

But his sentence was changed to time served by Judge David Carpenter in Jefferson County on Wednesday. The state's Department of Corrections had to process Kennard out of the system, which is why he wasn't immediately released after the ruling. He was released from the William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility, just outside of Bessemer, Alabama on Friday, the Alabama Department of Corrections said in a statement.

:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry: GET THE FUCK OUT OF THIS STUPID SHIT!! 36 YEARS??!! THEY DON'T GIVE SENTENCE LIKE THAT FOR MURDERERS TODAY!!:angry::angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:

Three-strikes law
Everyone in Prison Knows when you get out after the second bid to stay very clean and far away from any trouble
But not this guy !
Third felony = mandatory Life

He had to do this $50.xx on purpose

How did 50 dollars become a felony? I did not think that Alabama was one of the states that counts misdemeanor as part of the 3 strikes. California had counted misdemeanors as part of the 3 strikes and it was a shock when a black man was sentenced to life without for stealing a 75 cent slice of pizza.
On my second felony I spent 15 years in and when I was about to get out they tried to convict me of a felony right before getting out. As thought they did not want me out at all. Luckily I fought the case and beat it.
The schools that America built was from money they got from robbing and murdering. Our kids learn how to help the real criminals. If the masters of the world are demons then the people they create or control can only become little demons.

That is your opinion. I had less than 2 months on my second felony and they tried to give me a case before I got out. Actually people are in prison because they was programmed to be there. It is one thing to say that but it is very hard to prove that. But still it is the truth. Kids are in school right now learning and being programmed to be successful devils or suffer the price for not being able to be used by a system of eugenics.

Kennard was convicted of robbing a bakery Jan. 24, 1983, in a felony that netted him $50.75, the Birmingham News reported, citing court records.

That bakery crime came after Kennard had previously broken into a vacant service station, leading him to plead guilty to three felony counts of burglary and larceny in 1979. Due to that previous conviction, he was sentenced to life behind bars under the three-strikes provision of Alabama's Habitual Felony Offender Act.

Well that changes things.

So he did a robbery. I was under the impression that he just stole 50 dollars. Anything over I think 123 dollars is a felony when you still. Anything under that is different. But anyway I did not know exactly what the case was.

The law was talked about/debated on the news and in the papers all the time so everybody knew how it worked and what was about to happen. The news was filled with cases like this after the law came into effect and those first people got that THIRD STRIKE
