don't know how old you are, but that type of comedy was kind of the norm back then. This is long before the golden age of tv and especially high quality black tv.It's a good show but I don't think it's a top 10 show even for black shows. It was pretty corny if you think about it, the way Jasmine talked was not her real voice and Kadeem on the early seasons was a douche bag. I do think the Cosby Show should be top 5 though if we talking black shows.
Yes I agree the show was the best HBCU recruiter I do believe for the most part, but the show was kinda corny in my opinion. I attended Morehouse but I didn’t go there because of A Different World.don't know how old you are, but that type of comedy was kind of the norm back then. Like the interview said, Different World was the best recruiter HBCU's ever had. To see black young people going to college and thriving and living their best lives or at least trying to was great for folks like me who was in high school at the time. Plus seeing it on the the number 1 network, at the time, on their biggest night was also a sight to behold.
You have to remember we saw Dwayne grow from a goofy freshman to a strong positive black male college graduate. If anything they did a great job showing the growth of his character.
