Haven't seen Fresh in a hot minute...think I heard it's on Netflix...def gonna watch it again...I basically remember the girl getting shot...the dumb dude talking about the stupid fresh moves...dude doping up his sister and him setting that dude up to get chain whipped then crying w/ his pops @ the end...I seen NJ Drive again recently so it's still fresh in my head...

Ummm yeah when people get money they move out the low income areas with crime. You're the 1st person I know to say stay in a low income neighborhood.
the areas that they gave us. those low income areas
are the best areas to live, climate wise, location wise, all of that.
its the reason they come back later and try to gentrify people because they want back in where they gave us. they thought moving further was better.
but it isn't

I love a good hood movie. I have watched every movie mentioned in this thread multiple times. A lot of unique stories from that time & before. Post Civil Rights 60's black America has a lot of stories. Hard to get them produced properly.
American Gangster( Bio pic/drama) is the rare exception because it was pushed by Ridley Scott & Brian Grazer. They got Denzel, Russell Crowe, & Josh Brolin on board. And it returned cash on a $100 million dollar budget. It can be done if you can get a connected producer on board.
The hood flicks got squeezed out by the feel good black romance movies. Aint enough room for both I guess.
Allen Hughes is a good brother not Hollywood at all. Albert ,I'll take my moms advice & say nothing.
