2026 Chicago Bears Off Season Thread

Yep! He's a good SP and backup safety, they still could bring him back.

Some Bears fans still want Crosby after the failed Physical, I'm not one of them. Lol
I didn't support trading DJ and picks for him. Certainly not a fan of trading for damaged goods now. Now, Miles Garrett, I'd trade a first and a second (different years) for him.

Yeah if it's Myles Garrett, I'm all in. I'm with you though, I didn't want to give up two 1st and a player for Crosby. It's not worth it, at some point they have to build through the draft. I think having DA will help Poles draft better defensive players. It's some damn good defensive players in this draft, DE's, DT's and Safeties are pretty deep in this year's draft. If they pick the right players, they can get contribution immediately.

For the right price I’d still take him but since the price is going to be too high still, I’m with you.

I really like the way Ryan has handled this round of free agency. No hasty, overly expensive moves to get the popular, sexy names, and a seemingly firm conviction to keep and add on to draft capital. In spite of all the talk about Crosby, Hendrickson, and Linderbaum, this was the smarter play, especially with a draft expected to be very deep in quality from the second through the fourth rounds, at minimum. In fact, I wouldn't be opposed to him trading down from 25 for additional picks.

He's seemed to have learned from the previous years, because a lot of players he probably overpaid, didn't pan out

I hate to see him leave. :smh:

That old Seinfeld joke about sports fans not rooting for players but just the jerseys is really true. So many of those guys who produced all of those all-time great memories from last season won't be around any more. Yet, we'll be just as crazed come September for almost a completely new and unknown bunch of guys - just as long as they're wearing the blue and orange. Still, K.B. was an extremely important presence on this team, and he's really going to be missed.

Yeah remember Chase Claypool? Lol He gave up a 2nd for him. Draft and develop players is your best option in today's NFL. You would rather have players on rookie deals who contributes than high priced free agents.

Yeah he swung and missed bad with Claypool, and Sweat has played just well enough above the Maranda Line, AT TIMES, to justify that deal and the extension, like last season, not the numbers per se, but he clogged up running lanes while still contributing as a pass rusher. But agree with you 100%, I think he got fleeced by other teams as a first time GM but has learned from it.

That miss with Dayo signing at 3 and 48 and then getting an achilles injury this year after already being a bust. :smh:

I'm just glad he's getting another job

He was mainly special teams last season
Agreed. He served a role and it was as much leadership as on field production.

It is interesting that all the guys who’ve left our backfield have only gotten one-year “prove it again” deals, not sure if this is just specific to them or what the league market is for DBs in this moment.

CJGJ was on the street when we picked him up, he made himself another years worth of money and good for him too.

I'm a little worried about our defensive backfield

I'm a little worried period!! I understand the financial ramifications that are involved, but with guys like DJ Moore and Kevin Byard in places other than Halas Hall, that's a lot of maturity, a lot of steadiness, a lot of toughness, and a lot of leadership out of the door. As of today, we are NOT a better football team than we were at the end of January. We've got five picks in the first four rounds, and we better make the most out of them. I'll feel a lot better with some sho' nuff hell raisers joining that defensive front seven with this draft, and also if Shemar Turner proves to be the playmaker they expected him to be. I've got to keep reminding myself it's just March. Patience, Patience!!!!
