2017 CHICAGO BEARS Off-Season Thread

..
I will add this though: we were really vanilla. DEN on the other hand looked like they were running a damn game plan. Or maybe they're just that good. But i bet you after about the first half Fox Fangio & Co were wishing the could run some "real" stuff instead of just auditioning players...

Yeah Denver was blitzing a lot but the line still looked horrible, run blocking and pass blocking sucked. I'm just at the point where I'm so tired of Cutler that I wish we were so bad that we end up getting the number 1 pick, then they would have no excuse in drafting a QB because we all know that Watson would be the best overall player in the draft and they would not have a choice but to draft him if they had the number 1 pick. Believe me other teams in the NFL are going to try and tank the sesaon because Watson is the real deal.

All I can say is wow.
Bears offense look so inept:smh:
and confused as a unit.

..they look terrible. Vanilla is one thing, but not being able function offensively is another.

I can't stand how we seem to have no quick passing plays. Or maybe we do, but Cutler just holds the ball too long. And then in other instances, he gives up on plays too gyat damn quick. Thats always been a problem though: being able to identifying pre-snap pressure. With the amount of time this guy takes pre snap (which is another pet peeve of mine, they run the play clock down almost to zero on a regular basis), you'd think he'd be better at identification, finding the hot route and hitting the open guy.

Better hope Loggains has a better plan in line for the regular season. Cutler is what he is.

I watched today. Offense looks BAD. -7 yards passing in the first half :smh:

Defense actually didn't look too bad; they got penetration but as per usual, over pursuit and no spy helped Alex Smith gain significant yards on the ground especially on 3rd down.

I feel bad for Conner Shaw; they never showed a replay of his injury but his face, the faces of both teams and how quick they got the medics out there said it all. Bears reported tweeted he went straight to surgery. Terrible; he's looked the best out of damn near all the QBs. When he got hurt, Hoyer (who I can't believe was the Texans' opening day QB just last year; his accuracy has been horrible) came back in; what that says about David Fales is, to me, that's a dude that probably was about to be cut until Shaw's injury.

I hope this cat is ready to come to Chicago.....

As bad as the Bears are, and I expect to be... I don't see them being bad enough to get close enough to get any top QB. There's no magic bullet, this shits about to be a long, hard way back to respectability. I'm expecting 5 plus years.
I hear you.... But GOD I hope your wrong.....

This is what I said in this thread a couple weeks ago. Problem is the Bears always win enough games not to get the overall number 1 pick and the same thing will happen this year unless Cutler gets hurt. Having Cutler you will win about 5 to 6 games but without him they would win one or two. It's blasphemy saying this as a long time Bears fan but I hope they suck so we can get Watson, dude is going to be legit in the NFL.

Why do you have to jump in the air and use all of your body weight to tackle somebody who is 200lbs lighter than you like that?

It is as bad as a horse collar tackle.

Preseason kats trying to make a name for themselves. I don't care what the NFL says in publc. I doubt very seriously defensive coaches aren't still giving their players props to taking out people and laying the wood. They'd just never be dumb enough to be obvious like they were when we were coming up.

I thought it looked bad also, but I try to think of it happening in full speed and it's bang bang

He's probably jumping thinking he's going to pass

Hard to gauge what the offense will look like when the first stringers only played a quarter of a quarter of football, but they need to make some adjustments.

We look like a 4-5 win team during preseason...but i dont expect it to be that bad.

Marc Mariani cut. WOW. I thought he was an absolutely horrible returner but he gained my respect the last half of last season working out the slot WR position; he caught some tough balls in traffic and took some big hits; Tommy Waddle style. Reliable hands. Eddie Royal and Marquess Wilson can't stay healthy for shit but they must be loved by Pace as I'd have thought Wilson was a prime candidate to be released.

Mariani being cut is cool with me

No opinion either way

Looks like Ego got cut. Draft bust.

I saw Henry Melon got cut by a team

Man I feel terrible for him; he was another solid year from getting a HUGE contract; got hurt while playing under the franchise tag and that $8.45 million was the las big pay year he had as a pro; that tag and injury cost him at least $25 million more :smh:

WOW.

Lowkey he's missed a few kicks the past few years that would have sealed a W or two but this is a shock. Didn't see it coming; have no ideas who'll be kicking on Sunday against Houston.

I just saw this scroll. This is a shocker for me.

He wasn't as money as he used to be, and he's getting old.

In other news, good to see Hester get a shot with Baltimore.

Less than 7 days away.....
Time to load up the NFL Sig!!!

Good...anything so that Cutty can't blame his shit play on the OLine

Some Packers fans tried shitting on Sitton...saying the Packers cut him because he was old, got beat in preseason games, bad back (even though he barely missed games over the last three years) etc etc. But they mainly cut him because of his salary. Its interesting that he signed with Chicago so quickly. He mustve been pissed. Its also interesting that the Packer would let a talent like him go when their OL wasnt that great to begin with. But im sure they have a plan.

Regardless....Kyle Long (who deserved ever penny of his new deal) and Sitton are one of the best guard duos in the NFL right now....imho. Despite us getting Sitton.....our interior OL is still a big question mark. I bet we see Cutler scrambling more and less up-middle runs...until things get figured out.

I read that we gave him more money than he wouldve gotten from the Packers this season, and didnt play around because he was already scheduled to visit the Saints too. Sitton said he wanted to sign with a new team asap so he could learn the offense as quickly as possible.

I really hope his back is a non-issue. Looks like Whitehair at Center, I dont trust that dude Larsen. Massie is huge at RT, but his pass pro hasnt wowed me yet.

As far as Cutler scrambling: let's hope. I still prefer he become better at diagnosing where the pressure is coming from and get the ball to the hot route receiver with quick passing plays. They do all this posturing and pointing pre-snap, and for what? He looks like an amateur way too often when pressure comes. Play like the vet you supposed to be.

Less than 24 hours away from the first NFL game of the season. Less than 4 days away from the first Bears game vs the new look Texans w/ Lamar, Brock, Will Fuller etc.

I can feel it in the air!!

The Weather is starting to shift toward football weather. 90 degrees in Chicago the last 3 days, but after Friday.....only 70's 60's and 50s. I can sense a few 40 something degree nights right around the corner.

Cant wait!!!

BEARS!!!!!!
