2017 CHICAGO BEARS Off-Season Thread

I've heard good things about Braverman. I'd like to see them bring in Rico Gathers as a free agent.

I'm not sure what I feel about Floyd

He didn't produce, but I saw a lot of it was Georgia didn't let him be a straight pass rusher

but man, when kid stood up. I was like is he a TE/WR. He's small as hell

They did a lot in the fourth
Yeah Floyd is about 6'4, 245 so he could stand to bulk up but he is talented.

honestly cant get into these discussions until the season starts. I dont know shit about college ball nor their players. But from what I heard the Bears drafted some "decent" guys. Mainly from the 2nd round forward.

Yeah the first pick to me is boom or bust. Dude looks like Jimmy Butler, meaning that he looks like a basketball player. He definitely needs to put some weight and muscle on. The other picks were pretty solid. They drafted a lot of defense, which they really do need. The RB from Indiana is pretty damn good, I remember watching him against my Wolverines and he was killing them. Overall it seems like a solid draft but you never know for sure until you see them play in a real NFL game.

They've really been drafting for the secondary and based on these picks the special teams should be stronger as well. Still need a new return guy.

...dont for get we signed Bolden from the Broncos. He was a good KR there...we also re-signed Deonte Thompson, who took over PR from Mariani in the later part of the season last year..

Im not directing this at you, talking more about some of the analysts that grade team draft hauls. Ive noticed a few things:

1 - For the most part, they tend to give the benefit of the doubt to the teams who win, and/or who traditionally draft well/ For example, I feel like SEA, GB, NE and the like can take risks on tweeners, or lesser name dudes and these analysts will kind of not shit on them for fear that theyll be developed by those teams and then the analyst will look like a dummy.

I guess on one hand it makes sense, those teams that are winning must have good staffs in place that actually acquire decent -good talent and have good enough staffs to develop that talent. But I think we have that type of staff now, so Im more confident about our haul.

2- Lots of draftniks tend to look at it as "if your not drafting a guy that will start for you, then youre fuckin up". Theres nothing wrong with drafting complimentary players. I dont know if Floyd is gonna start Day 1, but just on speed alone he brings something to the table that we don't have. Can you imagine this dude flying around the corner and putting the fear of God in opposing QBs? He needs a little weight, but the dude is crazy fast off the ball. I can't wait to see how he looks out there and Im sure Fangio will put him in the best position to attack that QB.

Overall Im more thinking in terms of not whos starting job these rookies will take, but what each can do to supplement what we already have. Like someone else said: ST should be waaaay better. Between free agency and the draft, we we got faster there and on D. LB should be a strength now, we already have decent to good talent on the DL. Secondary is a questionmark to me consistency wise, but I think that it will be fine in the long run, just because I really expect us to have an amazing front 7. I really do.

Thank you for the info. Mariani was the worst KR I've ever seen.

Looks like they've signed several undrafted free agents including a couple of TE's.

I don't want to be the fucking chicago Broncos Anymore

That formula is tired and fucking whack

bruh i hear ya but
the Broncos went to 2 super bowls and won the SB with
a bad ass defense and an aging QB

Just as long they build a good defensive squad and use the offensive weapons
effectively is all I am concerned with

Bears front seven will have only two players from last year, Mcphee and Goldman. Almost ever other spot will more than likely have new players; some of which are upgrades. All this started happening in less than a year....which means our new front office is actually working to improve a mess that was left behind. The finishing product is yet to be seen, but you have to give them props for actually making some improvements on defense.

Our schedule aint "tough".....imho. We still have to wait to see how Langford and Kevin White turn out as starters, but I wouldnt be shocked if we were a playoff team this year.

Leonard Floyd:

Cody Whitehair:

Jonathan Bullard:

Nick Kwiatkoski:

Deon Bush aka "SCUD":

Diondre Hall aka "the Octopus" :

Jordan Howard:

DeAndre Houston- Carson:

Daniel Braverman aka "Cold Cuts":

Dudes arms are crazy. It might make up for his lack of speed.

They said Braveman might have been a nice pick up, he's quick in the New England Patriots mold. He has good hands.

I like the Bullard pick up. He's a little undersized, but they say he goes hard.

Hoyer was a good recovery. I saw they wanted Cook. A lot better than Clausen :smh:

Rolle got cut, but he's been working with Bush

This season I am more optimistic because the gm and coaches
got rid of a lot of deadwood(phil emery picks) on the team.

I think they will be more competitive on the defensive side of the ball.
As for the offense, hmmm:dunno: well let's see when the pre-season starts.

GO BEARS

Yup. Barring injury, I think our pass rush will be thorough. The LB have been upgraded, we just need to be able to tackle at that position. Im still a little worried about the DBs, but hopefully the pass rush will make them look good...

Offensively, I think we have enough pieces to be in the upper half of the league but as usual Cutler needs to give a fuck and make good decisions. And Loggans needs to call good games and hold Cutty accountable. AND I hope they do a better job of getting Carey involved at RB. Truly rotate that backfield.

Finally, we have all the pieces now (via the draft + FA) to be better in kick coverage and in the KR/ PR game. I expect vast improvement there. ST sucked last year personnel wise and strategically.

As for the offense, hmmm:dunno: well let's see when the pre-season starts.

I think the rushing game will be a bigger question mark than the passing game.
OL issues (made improvements a little over a year ago, now it seem to be going backwards).
Also, this will be the first year minus Forte.

I think our passing game will be improved, IF our guys can stay healthy.
White (#2) and Eddie Royal (slot) both have hell of speed!
Alshon proved that he can be a beast as well, but he seems to have too many leg issues.
He's already resting a sore hamstring and the season hasnt started yet....:smh:

If our guys can stay healthy, I think we'll make the playoffs.
Cardinals, Packers, Seahawks and Panthers are the top NFC favs.
Wildcard teams will be a battle between teams like the Bears, Vikings, Cowgirls, Falcons, Redskins, Giants etc.

Its still early & new for us....
Imma keep my pessimism down.
Wait til they log in a few games before I start calling em out.

From the mouth of Antrel Rolle: "The surfaces in the Chicago facilities are the worst I’ve ever been around, I’m just gonna be honest with you," Rolle told the New York Post. "I slipped on the surface, I wasn’t even running -- I was just kind of shuffling and slipped."

Its been a problem for way too long. Bears can barely get the right personnel on the field let alone keep them healthy. Other teams can figure it out but Bears too cheap. Shit is vexing. They still can't figure out how to decrease the incidence of soft tissue injuries. Give me 3 years and a decent budget. I'll turn their injury prone roster around.

BEARS organization not just cheap but
they hire naive retarded people in order to run the day-to-day operations
within Halas Hall.

BEARS front office management hire who are agreeable not individuals who
are qualified for each position. Too much nepotism from ted phillips and mckaskeys.

BEARS management are the laughing stock of the nfl.

Sad but so true.... I may be done with them in the next couple of seasons. (I know im just bullshittin but its therapeutic to think that... )

Watching that preseason game and I'm thinking I hope we suck the whole season because I want the number one pick it the draft. I want this dude right here on the Bears, I can't take Cutler anymore.

yeah bruh I hear ya
I know it's just preseason but
Cutler will always just be Cutler:smh:

Bears defense looked somewhat decent
but the O-Line :puke:need to get better as an unit.
Hopefully more reps they get, they may be ready
for the regular season.

I can't take Cutler anymore bruh, I want a stud quarterback like Cam Newton, Russell Wilson or an Aaron Roger's. I'm tired of this mediocre shit. Watson is going to be a baller.

Yeah the O line was horrible tonight, giving up sacks left and right. Smh

Thing about Cutler is that his play decision making and body language instll zero confidence. I feel like he's already looking as if he gonna spend all year blaming every bad play on the OL rather than some of his deficiencies...like not being able to diagnose a blitz pre snap or hit the hot Receiver when he's wide open. .

I will add this though: we were really vanilla. DEN on the other hand looked like they were running a damn game plan. Or maybe they're just that good. But i bet you after about the first half Fox Fangio & Co were wishing the could run some "real" stuff instead of just auditioning players...
