2017 CHICAGO BEARS Off-Season Thread

We always win enough to not get a high draft pic but not enough for the playoffs. ....smdh

I think we need two secondary

The nigga from fsu number 8 he can play safety, nickel , cb, and blitzer....dude full package
And haregraves from Florida pretty solid shut down.....I don't see a dominate pass rusher and no first round lb I'm in love with

Fucking bears

...it should be ab interesting offseason though. Some random thoughts:

- Through all of the crappy coaches we've had over the years, I get the sense that the current staff has a "smartest man in the room" complex. I feel like these guys feel entitled, and like theyve "been there before and seen it all" and to that end I question their hunger to really win big.Even though we were outmanned at times this year, good coaches make quality meals using w/e ingredients they have. And in my mind this staff failed. There were too many times where as a fan, you were left scratching your head wondering if these guys even cared about winning.

I actually think that on the low, that may have been the main reason they parted with B Marshall. For all of his perceived faults, he cared about winning and got at some of the guys in the locker room that seemed content with loses. I think the current staff and Pace knew that this year was gonna be a mediocre one and didnt want to run the chance of BM going ape when these dudes are basically tanking games.

- Theyve already said that Long is staying at Tackle, but I think thats a mistake. They need to l et him go be a Pro Bowler at G and then go get Tackles either in the draft or FA.

- I hope the coaches really put an emphasis on the return game in the offseason and get the right guys back there returning kicks.

- The obvious: lets get some killers that can cover at ILB, start over at CB (or commit to Fuller and Porter, but have at least 2 backups that can take either of those guys' jobs if they falter), competition @PK, a quality back up QB+a 3rd stringer to develop, and a TE if Bennett is sent packing.

Ive lost some faith in Hargreaves since my boy Chesson from Michigan cooked his ass repeatedly in the Citrus Bowl the other day. It could have been a case of him just content with his status, but thats not a good sign either.

I have to do some more research on just who's coming out and who isnt, but I know there are at least 3 good tackles in these 1st wrong mocks.

Michigan fan too, he did....but I saw other games them boys shut a lot of wrs down and he hits....didn't catch the sec chip so :dunno: but Jalen Ramsey is that dude and he can move around and he will hit you and a ball hawk

.

Huge mistake. He looked good at RT for all of ONE game this season. He routinely got worked over, including today and I'll bet he had more penalties as a T this season then his seasons combined at G.

I hope BEARS can learn from their mistakes with the later years of GMs angelo and emery.

It doesn't matter how high the Bears draft but the quality of who Pace drafts.

So far I like some of his draft picks last season but time will tell.

Please for the life of god get rid of shea and the other 2 linebackers.
They were god awful this season.

Only bright side is that we beat the fudgepackers.

Typing about draft.....
Gotta wonder about Alshon, Bennet, Forte etc.
All of them can be gone next year.
I think Alshon stays.....but who knows.
You gonna ride with Kevin White????
smh.....

We'll see what happens.
I think we'll pick up nice pieces in FA.

Tough year...and tough schedule.
I have faith in new management. They acutally did a good job in year #1. Defense and offense.
You saw glimpses of what this team COULD BE if we had healthy/the right pieces.

Next year will be BETTER....imho

BEARS!!!!!!!

True we did decent you saw cutler not make you want to strangle him, Bennet is solid and people hate paying for a running back especially our cheap as front office....we will see

Bennett is mostly likely gone. As is Forte. Bennett teases you. He did that with the Giants also. He was a little more consistent, but he had a lot of games where he didn't seem interested.

I'm interested in what happens with Alshon.

Our home field advantage :smh:

1. Forte is gone.... If the management is smart, they will keep him. There is fall out with other players depending on how you handle this. Other players are watching. What do you think players said when the Bears dealt with (Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman, Olsen, Lovie, Peppers, Marshall etc)

2. Cutler WILL restructure. It has to happen, otherwise, depending on how the draft pans out.... I personally think he bought himself another year with the way he played. That man was on eof the most consistent and efficient QBs in the NFL. ESPECIALLY with the WR and Line he played with

3. Bennet is gone. No secret. Im cool with that

4. Jeffery is pissed about how things panned out with Marshall and has been acting out since then. He wants to test free agency, but he will get Franchised.

5. Bears draft @ #11. Possible picks: Andrew Billings, DT, Baylor, Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis, Jaylon Smith, LB, Notre Dame, Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU, Emmanuel Ogbah, DE, Oklahoma State

6. Gase is gone: Sad to see but he will take a job more than likely at Miami, Ind or New Orleans(if available)

Salute to a a good career for Peanut Tillman

I wish he would have retired last year as a Bear, but I understand him wanting to continue. It sucks the injuries he had late in the year, and this ACL will cause him to miss the playoffs.

Forte officially done in Chicago :smh:

Matt Forte says Bears won't re-sign him, ending 8-year Chicago career
Playing for an organization with a deep history of some of the best running backs the NFL has ever seen, Matt Forte walks away as the second-most productive back in Chicago Bears history.

Forte announced on his Instagram account Friday morning that the club informed him earlier this week he was not in its plans moving forward. He will be an unrestricted free agent and is free to sign with any team beginning March 9.

The Bears met with Forte and let him know they plan to go in a different direction. It’s not a surprise and Forte had admitted this was a very real possibility before the season ended.

“Despite my wishes, my days as a member of the Chicago Bears have sadly come to an end,” Forte wrote. “I was informed earlier this week from the GM (Ryan Pace) that they will not be attempting to re-sign me in free agency. I will remain forever grateful for my time spent in Chicago and being able to play for an organization with such a rich history. My only regret is not being able to win a Lombardi trophy for the best fans in all of sports. I'm excited about the next chapter of my NFL career. But, Chicago will always be home. God Bless and Bear Down!”

Forte rushed for 8,602 yards in eight seasons with the Bears, who drafted him from Tulane in the second round in 2008, one of former GM Jerry Angelo’s best draft picks. He missed three games last season with a knee sprain but still led the team with 898 yards rushing and caught 44 passes for 389 yards. Forte set an NFL record for receptions by a running back in 2014 when he caught 102 passes. He rushed for a career-high 1,339 yards in 2013.

“We recently met with Matt to inform him we will not extend a contract offer for the 2016 season,” Pace said in a statement released by the team. “These decisions are never easy, especially given what Matt has meant to our team and community. We have a tremendous amount of respect for him. Matt is one of the all-time great Bears and did an excellent job for us on and off the field last season. He was a tremendous teammate. We thank him for his professionalism and wish him the very best as he continues his career.”

The Bears will go forward with Jeremy Langford, a fourth-round pick last year, and Ka’Deem Carey in the backfield. They could add a player to the mix this offseason.

Forte turned 30 in December and is trying to buck the trend of running backs being productive after their 20’s. He’s remained remarkably durable in his career and played in all 16 games in five seasons.

The question now is where will Forte land? As an excellent receiver out of the backfield, he would be an ideal fit for the Green Bay Packers, who got underwhelming production from Eddie Lacy last season. It makes sense as James Starks is a free agent. While Packers GM Ted Thompson rarely ventures into free agency, he hit with former Bears defensive end Julius Peppers two years ago and could look to Forte.

Itll suck to see him with a new team esp if its GB...but i think we've been expecting this for a while now. I dunno how much money was offered or demanded, but given our RB situation + the fact that dude just can't stay healthy for a full season anymore Id rather spend "elite RB money" on other positions right now.

Add a vet back up and finally give Carey nuff run.

Nigga you have literally been saying this same shit for 10 years. You aint been shit since '06. Go away nigga. 6-9 faget. Eat it.
Have y'all even won a playoff game?

Y'all had 2 fucking home playoff games with rg3 and cousins and couldn't win shit.

Stfu and eat a shit sandwich.

Go to a Super Bowl in the 2000's faggit

It was done ten years too late. They made Buddy the center piece, but he couldn't give his side.

I was wondering why Wilber Marshall wasn't involved.

Then I saw this

http://www.hogshaven.com/2011/3/11/...l-is-not-doing-well-physically-or-financially
Man.. I didnt know Wilber was that fucked up. Truly sad man.. Brutal game with even more brutal and heartless men running it..

As for the doc, i didnt get the impression Buddy was the centerpiece. I just felt as tho he was a beloved figure and the limited perspectives given supported just that. Dikta came off as the raging asshole i always figured him to be tho. Dent had me fucking dying tho bro... "A Midget!!!?" . fuckin tears. I enjoyed that doc men.

That sucks getting rid of fote, but I knew, prolly end up in new England or saints maybe even Houston.

There are talks the we will go after Ragland...of all the Alabama lbs we missed on, I don't have to have him, he's a tackling machine but he is slow and stiff, and has trouble in zones, I still say Ramsey, or Hargreaves or however you spell it, then second round your boy from Uga (lb/edge rusher) or the nd lb that hurt his acl

Shit was prettty good. Lot of them dudes wont be shedding tears when Dikta dies. Thats for certain.

And imma take it here Mannie.... You aint been shit since 1985. Now you let Forte go but keep Cuntler... You still aint shit.
Cutler is more valuable than forte right now

This isn't 2008 or 2009
