Think GM Gettleman will pretty much have to slaughter the draft to prevent potentially huge drop-off from 2014 #Panthers.

UPDATE.... After Ware signed his three-year, $30 million deal with the Broncos on Wednesday, Rapoport reported that Denver initially had the exact same offer on the table for Allen, according to a source informed of the team's situation.

Allen would have taken that deal, too, but Rapoport was told the Broncos made him wait as they huddled with Ware. Tough pill to swallow, as it won't be easy for Allen to land that kind of money elsewhere.

Look I'm a Ware fan and will be rooting for him but Allen hasn't shown the signs of breaking down that Ware has

Ware is the better player but Allen may have the last laugh kinda

I say kinda cuz Ware still got his money

Honestly I wish we would have waited to sign all these bums were are signing

Might could have convinced Allen to play on one of those 1 year 5 million dollar deals all the defensive lineman were signing last year once the first week spending spree does off

What the fuck are the Panthers doing?

They took a step forward last season...might be two back next season,at this rate.

Allen gets double digits every year and isn't injury prone

He should have been Denver's first option

Ben Tate - RB - Texans
Free agent Ben Tate is in Cleveland on Thursday for his Browns visit.
The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports Tate's visit, originally scheduled for Wednesday, was delayed by weather. There's still a chance Tate signs on his first visit. Tate is our top free agent running back still available, followed by Andre Brown, Knowshon Moreno, Maurice Jones-Drew, James Starks, LeGarrette Blount, and Anthony Dixon. It's not a good year to be a free agent back.

Derek Cox - DB - Vikings
Vikings signed CB Derek Cox, formerly of the Chargers, to a one-year contract.
Cox was one of the top free-agent corners last March and signed a four-year, $20 million deal with the Chargers. He was flat-out awful and got his walking papers earlier this month. With the Jaguars from 2009-2012, Cox flashed No. 1 abilities. If he's to resurrect his career, going to Minnesota and playing for Mike Zimmer is the spot. Cox could start opposite Xavier Rhodes, with Captain Munnerlyn in the slot. Cox is still only 27 years old.

Brandon Ghee - DB - Chargers
Chargers signed CB Brandon Ghee, formerly of the Bengals, to a two-year contract.
Ghee, 27 in June, appeared in ten games last season but played just 80 defensive snaps. He missed the entire 2012 season with a wrist injury. The former third-round pick will compete for a roster spot and play special teams.

Titans running back Chris Johnson has said he’s not willing to reduce his $8 million. But as he sits and ponders his football future, Johnson is reconsidering.

Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports reports that Johnson is starting to see the writing on the wall, and would be willing to take a pay cut if that’s what he has to do to facilitate a trade.

From Johnson’s perspective, it may be worth taking a pay cut to get the situation resolved quickly. The Titans don’t have to pay Johnson any roster bonuses this offseason, which means they could hold onto him for the next five months and wait until the end of the preseason to cut him. At that point, there wouldn’t be much time left for Johnson to find a new team before the regular season starts, and so he might be better off doing what he needs to do to get a trade done soon.

That would also be better for the Titans, because there are risks for the Titans to keeping Johnson around, too: If they hold onto Johnson and he suffers a season-ending injury during offseason work, they would be forced to pay him the full $8 million while he spends the season on injured reserve. And Johnson’s $8 million salary counts against their salary cap as long as he’s on the roster, so even if the Titans have no intention of paying that salary when the season starts, his presence on the roster affects their ability to sign free agents.

Bottom line, getting a trade done now would benefit both the Titans and Johnson. And if Johnson needs to reduce his salary to help the Titans get it done, he’s willing to do that.
