2014 Free Agency Thread

that seems awfully low. He's a talented guy although injury prone and I thought that he would go for more money than that.

cosine twice Eric Decker is overrated and he's barely a number 3 option on any team. Some force app team is going to find out that he is not worth more than 6 million a year...if even that much. I am predicting now he will be cut in 3 years or less. Please don't let the Browns be that stupid team

Nah he ain't getting cut, he's good enough to be a 1b but he needs other threats, let's not forget he made Tebow look decent....

He'd be a good fit in Cleveland, you got Gordon, Cameron, and he'd be the perfect fit. I hope they do I to shut these fucking ravens fans up at my job.

i need the eagles to make a splash like they did the year we got TO and Kearse.

I was working at sams club the year we got Kearse he came in to do some shopping that dude walked around the store signing autographs for everyone that asked. he was a real humble brotha

i PRAY the browns signs him i pray they do and sign him to a big deal

yeah and I hope your Oakland Raiders move to Portland, Oregon...get that Mayflower ready. heard of this week on ProFootballTalk (just messing with you. I did hear it but that move it never happened. Not to Portland.)

Eric Decker is talented, but he's not a #1 receiver...He was in Manning's dog house, this past season, because Decker wouldn't fight for the ball and spend way too much time complaining to the referees...

I've never seen a receiver complain on every single play like Decker...:smh::smh::smh:

I was talking to Lovie the other day and he hinted speed at the QB position is essential...Can only mean one thing....#VICK #Bucs :dance::dance:

Who negotiated Revis contract?

Master P?
:lol::lol::lol::lol: For real!

Last April, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers completed a trade to land one of the top cover corners in the NFL.

Now, the Buccaneers are trying to unload him.

According to various media reports, including one by Fox Sports' Alex Marvez, the Bucs are dangling cornerback Darrelle Revis on the trade market to see if there are any takers. ESPN's Adam Schefter followed that report with word that the Bucs would release Revis mid-week if no deal materialized.

Revis, 28 signed a six-year, $96 million deal following the trade in 2013, which is an exorbitant salary in NFL terms, but not a single dollar of it was guaranteed — which is highly unusual. It essentially breaks down like six one-year contracts worth salaries of $13 million per year, along with a roster bonus and a workout bonus every year worth $1.5 million apiece.

But that deal could be sent through the shredder if no team steps up with something in return. The chances are sparse but not zero. Revis played well following the trade and after suffering a torn ACL in 2012, but he's a man-cover corner who is considered a poor fit in Lovie Smith's and Leslie Frazier's Tampa-2 zone defense, which Smith has skirted around without actually coming out and saying it.

So if the Bucs can't get anything in return, they sent the Jets a first-round pick last year (which turned out to be Sheldon Richardson) and a fourth-rounder this year, plus $16 mil in salary for one year of Revis and a 4-12 season as Greg Schiano and GM Mark Dominik were canned. The conditional fourth-rounder would turn into a third-round pick if Revis is on the roster on the third day of the 2014 league year.

New GM Jason Licht apparently is ready to cut bait because Revis' contract will allow them — and encourages them — to do so.

All of a sudden, the cornerback market would get very interesting if Revis suddenly hit the market. This has to be bad news for Alterraun Verner and Aqib Talib, roundly thought to be the two best available options starting tomorrow. Oh, they likely still will get paid. But they might have to wait out the Revis process to play out, and it could cost them some money, depending on how it all shakes out.
It's been a LONG time since I have seen anyone sign with $0 guaranteed money!

He didn't have the leverage because he was coming off that ACL.... On a crazy note what if he ends up in Seattle.

If the Giants pick up Jared Allen, which they will, it's a wrap

Only reason I say they pick him up cause Tuck a F.A also. And we know the Gmen about rushing the passer. It'll be a disappointment but hey,he will help Denver tremendously. I'm here in Mn and would hate to see him not win. He's a beast but would love to see him in N.Y.

Revis going get treated w royalty wherever he ends up. I don't see the pats cause he'll fuck w my Jets twice a year and there starting to fade off into the wind (age wise) only legit squad would be the niners.

I love this time of the year also. Spring (Minnesota winters sucks) spring training, march madness, nba and hockey playoffs and all the newness of football(F.A, draft) yes sir!! U hit it on the head. Best time for sports

OMG.... that's fucking pathetic. I know he was coming off the injury but shit.....I remember when he signed that shit too and I didn't know that shit wasn't guaranteed. I would've been laughing last year at this time.

Shit most contracts should be like that IMO.

Its a "wrap"? Yeah you not getting Jared Allen in his prime. Giants had a shitty d-line last season and Allen doesn't make that "a wrap".

Free agency is a gift and a curse because more times than not most teams are giving up on players who can no longer give them what they once could or the money is too much. All these vets being released....already got one foot out the door. In it for one last check before they go.

Bucs gave Michael Johnson 5 years 43.75 million

24 million guaranteed

No way Demarcus Ware agrees to a pay cut

Nor should he with these dudes getting this type of money

Word is he wants a decision BEFORE free agency officially starts

If the Cowboys try to play the leverage game and wait until teams have spent money to agree to cut him that would be some foul ass shit

He deserves better than that

If you don't want him let him go, thing is you do want him you just don't want to pay the contract you signed him to

Which is fine so just cut him

And good luck on finding a better replacement for a reasonable deal

Jared would be dangerous on the giants line. He still good. He leaving MN cause there "rebuilding" and he don't want to be stuck in that situation. They are a pass rushing team and if they going let Tuck go I say replace him with another animal. Yes, it would be a wrap. That's how the Gmen play. Pressure up front and force the turnovers

I agree. Can't believe the money Johnson and Griffen have gotten. I know Cliff Avril mad as hell somewhere. Last year none of these pass rushers were getting paid like this.

Some Atlanta folks wanted to Johnson but I said pass. I think he's a bit overrated.

I'd be all for Allen or Ware though if Dallas does let him go. I'd even take a chance on Lamarr Woodley.

the girls defense going to go from bad to worst if they let ware walk. Jerry better make a smart move

It's why they really don't want to let him go

There is no replacements they can afford out there and then you can only address so much in the draft

I'd roll the dice with him one more year

See if he can stay healthy

Cowboys dragging this out in the media castrating him in the public eye

Purposely not keeping it in house trying to shame him into taking a pay cut

Pathetic

He is better than Johnson or Griffen I don't give a damn how old they are

It can't get any worse. If they let Ware go I wouldn't trip. That's how bad he was last year. I do think it was more so due to injuries but at this point in his career i'm not sure if his body can hold up in the 4-3 pass rushing every down.

Oh I agree that's how you play but Jared Allen is on the wrong side of 30. To think you are getting in his prime Jared Allen...or hell even Jared Allen of last season is a bit of a stretch. In the NFL, you can go from the best player in the league to the worst. And it happens more times to players in their 30's.

Should have never switched to the 4-3 in the first place

Only player who we already had prior who benefitted was Hatcher and he is probably gone

Yea I was excited to see Ware and Spencer rush the passer every down and see Ratliff at DT but damn......all 4 of them niggas might be gone.

That damn switch done set us back years.

Got to rebuild the whole fucking front 4

Can't do that in an offseason

This shit set us back years and for a team trying to "win now" that's not a fucking move you make!!!!

Nah....or you better be ready to put up 50 points a game and I won't hold my breathe on that one.

No I agree. But there he'll have help. The year he almost broke Strahan record he had the best up front w him. No double teaming. If u can get him to a team w some solid linemen he'll produce but if u looking for a star lineman w no help , it's a no go.
