Dude can play

Re: ~**~**~**~ 2013 NBA Offseason and Draft Thread~**~**~

Damn Thomas Robinson about to be playing for 3 teams in his young career

yes

Have to ask what are they seeing that has them saying this kid isn't any good. I met him during the all star game during jam session.

He was signing cards. I told him I saw him on NBA Rooks and that had Billy King kept that pick he likely would be in Brooklyn and he was laughing saying "You actually know who I am."

A lot of people were getting him to sign their shit and didn't know who he was.

NBA Rooks even took him off the show after a couple episodes

Him and Terrence Jones...

I know they're young... and they need to work on their games...

BUT... I think on the right squad... and a couple of years under their belt.

They both have a chance at being real good pros.

Bucks Hire Larry Drew As Head Coach
May 31, 2013 5:30 PM EDT

Larry Drew has accepted the Milwaukee Bucks' offer to become their next head coach.

Drew was most recently head coach of the Atlanta Hawks.*

The Hawks reached the playoffs in each of Drew's three seasons as head coach.

Drew will replace former interim head coach Jim Boylan who had succeeded Scott Skiles.

The Bucks enter an uncertain offseason in which Brandon Jennings, Monta Ellis and J.J. Redick will be free agents.

Cuban didn't need his tweet or his bitch ass support

Gilbert pushed this bullshit ass CBA that Cuban hates and has Mr. Luxury Tax himself scared to go over the cap and fucked up his team in the process

Fuck Dan Gilbert and Michael Jordan(as a owner)

:smh: he always talking bout he wish he would've harder against it. :smh:

I was pissed the Mavs didn't draft Terrence or Perry Jones

:curse:

Re: ~**~**~**~ 2013 NBA Offseason and Draft Thread~**~**~

How many good teams this CBA had/have scared...

Memphis - OJ Mayo and Rudy Gay didn't get resign or were traded
(pretty sure these two offensive skills could help against the Spurs.

Indiana - this offseason should show

OKC - not really sure about them, because Harden could've signed...

Can't think of any others at the moment...

Re: ~**~**~**~ 2013 NBA Offseason and Draft Thread~**~**~

Cavs can make it work if they got selfless players like OKC but there will be at least one "Harden" in the crew.:smh:

Lust for money straight ruining what could be good basketball. I would love to see other teams come up. Tired of the same teams, same shit every year. This Cavs team could be so cold in the future. All it would it would take is a group of selfless youngsters who value winning more than money.......... That's not going to happen.

:smh:

You have to build a team the way the Nuggets have BUT with postseason success. Right now the Nuggets are the blueprint but they have to show they can win in the playoffs. With Masai gone, it's going to be interesting to see how the roster shapes up.

Re: ~**~**~**~ 2013 NBA Offseason and Draft Thread~**~**~

There's ONLY THREE ways teams are built....

drafting - selecting fresh meat
trading - moving players for picks, money or others players
signings - signing free agents

So what's truly the "CORRECT" way to "BUILD" a team?

I hope the Rockets keep T.Jones, dude has a bigger upside to me than Robinson. Jones impressed me defensively and with his rebounding in the small amount of games he played. This might be a stretch but he reminds me a lot of a young Josh Smith. Mchale should have played the kid earlier in the sason.

Jones is a point forward by natural even though he has size.

He played out of position at Kentucky.

I like jones a lot...

Larry Brown Calls NBA Return 'Hypothetical'
Jun 05, 2013 1:58 PM EDT

Brown_Larry_cha_091220.jpg

Larry Brown dismissed a report that he may return to the NBA as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, calling it "hypothetical."

Brown is currently head coach at SMU.

“I love what I’m doing,” said Brown. “But I’m in a situation where I think I can help young people. But I don’t ever want to get back into coaching at the professional level unless I have a great relationship with the ownership and people let me share the knowledge I have learned and work with young people that have the same values that I have.”

Brown was disappointed with the firing of Tony DiLeo.

“They have new ownership,” Brown said. “I think when Tony was let go I don’t think that they would have any interest in somebody like me. I love the team, I love the city. I have always felt that if there was any way I could help as a resource because of the way I was treated I would love to do that. But I think there are probably a lot of great options out there for them.”

Sources: Timberwolves Continue To Target Oladipo

The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in moving up in the June 27 draft to select Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo has thus far declined to work out for the Timberwolves, because his representatives need reason to believe Minnesota can move up to Orlando's spot at No. 2, Washington's spot at No. 3 or Charlotte's spot at No. 4.

Oladipo is projected as a top-six choice by various outlets.

Bucks Offered Two-Year Extension To Monta Ellis
Jun 07, 2013 3:06 PM EDT

MEDW42413.jpg

The Milwaukee Bucks offered a two-year extension to Monta Ellis that would have resulted in a total package of nearly $36 million over three years, according to sources.

Ellis would have had to opt in to the additional two years.

Ellis has until June 20 to decide whether to opt into the final season of his deal. Ellis signed a six-year, $66 million contract with the Golden State Warriors in 2008.

Re: ~**~**~**~ 2013 NBA Offseason and Draft Thread~**~**~

Damn this didn't take long...

Monta Ellis reportedly turns down Milwaukee Bucks’ large contract extension offer

If you’ve ever wondered about the direction the Milwaukee Bucks were taking in this pivotal 2013 offseason, whether the team was going to keep with the same 38-win crew or blow it all up, a report out of Milwaukee has surfaced that should lead you to believe the Bucks are once again going for more of the same. Shootin’ for that .500 record, hopin’ for the eighth seed, signin’ all of the Monta Ellis.

From Charles F. Gardner at the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel has learned that discussions were held to extend Ellis’ deal with the Bucks but no agreement was reached.

As part of the discussions the Bucks offered the 27-year-old guard a two-year extension through the 2015-’16 season, resulting in a total package of nearly $36 million over three years, according to a source. Ellis would have been required to opt in to get the additional two years on the deal.

That includes the opt-in first year at $11 million, with annual raises bringing the total to $11.8 million in the second year of the deal and $13 million in the final year.

The average salary in the deal would have been about $12 million.

Gardner went on to report that Ellis turned down the deal, looking forward to opting out to take advantage of what would be a seller's market of an NBA free agent period this summer. We worry about the motivation behind a column like this, because while Gardner is a trusted reporter, these figures could have come from Ellis' camp in a move to ratchet up the free agent dollars that could potentially be sent his way.

Then again, these are the Bucks. We kinda believe that they'd put this sort of offer together, y'know?

So, around $12 million a year to pay Ellis through his prime. Which doesn’t sound like that terrible of a deal, if you work in the Milwaukee Bucks front office.

If you’re anyone else, though, it’s cringing time.

Ellis is a high-usage, low efficiency player. Last season he needed 17.5 shots per game to average 19.2 points per contest. He’s often referred to as an “effortless” or “pure” scorer, but shouldn’t pure scorers shoot better than 41 percent from the field, or perhaps decline to take four three-pointers a game when it’s obvious that 28.7 percent shooting from behind the arc just isn’t going to cut it?

Then there’s the other side of the court, which Ethan Sherwood Strauss reminded us about earlier on Friday:

Monta Ellis has his moments, and $12 million a year for a guy that (by hook or by crook) can put up around 20 points per game isn’t the worst thing in the world, especially considering Ellis’ age. With the coaching situation settled and internal development from within aiding in the cause, the Bucks should be able to improve, even with Ellis, next season.

But to what? A chance at the seventh seed? A winning record? Taking a game in the first round, instead of being swept? The addition of Larry Drew and hoped-for maturity in Larry Sanders are going to make that huge of a difference?

As anonymous as the Bucks may seem to most, Twitter is littered with angry Bucks fans that are unhappy with general manager John Hammond’s unending commitment to mediocrity. This is a team that needs to start over, and if this report is any indication, the Bucks have no plans to abandon what has done them so so-so in the past.

So so-so. They led the league in so-so last year, and are prepping for a run at defending their crown.

Love Thinks Less Than Max Contract Will Give T-Wolves Space To Sign Pekovic
Jun 07, 2013 1:19 AM EDT

untitled1_gdpjs.jpg

Kevin Love has three guaranteed years and a player option for a fourth season remaining on his contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Love did not receive the maximum five-year deal from former Timberwolves president David Kahn.

"I know that there's a lot that goes into it, especially … the new CBA," Love said. "I think it's just the way it goes sometimes and that I've got to really put it behind me. But it also really gives us more space to sign guys like … (restricted free agent) Nikola Pekovic this summer, so I think it's gonna be good for us in that at the end of the day, I have a fourth-year player option myself, so I think I have a little bit of flexibility whatever I decide to do.

"But I think as far as heading in the right direction and re-signing Pekovic and Ricky (Rubio) finally being healthy, Rick Adelman coming, Flip Saunders being on board now, I think it's gonna make for a great number of years."

This offseason, Pekovic is a restricted free agent and will be looking to test the market.

Rubio is scheduled to hit restricted free agency in the summer of 2015.

Nowitzki Willing To Take Paycut, Doesn't Have Ideal Salary In Mind
Jun 07, 2013 12:20 PM EDT

4813_Nowitzki.jpg

Dirk Nowitzki will take a pay cut in order to clear cap space for the Dallas Mavericks’ free agent pursuit of Dwight Howard or Chris Paul.

Nowitzki was asked if he has a number in mind.

“Not really. We’ll cross that bridge when we get there,” Nowitzki said. “It kind of depends on what team we can get, too. I’ve always said that (Mark) Cuban has taken care of me for a long, long time. Money isn’t something I play for. I want to compete. I want to win. We’ll play this year and hopefully have a great team and then I’ll come off the books. Then, we can all sit together again and see how many guys we can get and who is out there. Saying all of that, I think that’s something I haven’t really thought about yet in terms of an actual number. We’d love to be as competitive as we can be.”

Nowitzki plans to use his pay cut as a selling point to free agents.

“Yeah. Obviously, I’m not going to make $23 million again,” Nowitzki said. “I know that. I’m 36 next summer, so this is going to be my last year of making money like a franchise player. That gives us even more cap space next year. I’m sure it’s going to come up. We’ll see if that has an impact on anything or helps us bring anything. We’re obviously trying to sell the big picture and that’s one small part of it.”

Rockets To Simultaneously Pursue Paul, Howard
Jun 09, 2013 12:12 PM EDT

The Houston Rockets plan on pursuing Dwight Howard, but they will simultaneously go after Chris Paul as well.

"They are targets No. 1 and 1A," said a source.

Both Howard and Paul are free agents, but the former has expressed more interest in signing with the Rockets.

The Rockets need to complete a few moves to offer a max contract, something they feel is likely. Houston won't have enough cap space to offer a max contract to both players.

Paul is close to James Harden from their time together on USA Basketball.
