2013/2014 Dallas Cowboys Thread

Ball security is the best way to sum this game up. Dez Harris & Dunbar know better and they need to run some laps for that bullshit. Overall i love our defense and can't wait to see them when all are healthy, but my concern is still with the O because it seems like they are very reluctant to go down the field with the passing game. It's fucking pre-season so why are we playing conservative like it's a 3pt game in the regular season?

Alpha, but do you think that a elite QB would eat at Tampa 2 D in this day and age?

Like when you're in the playoffs and playing Rodgers, Brees, Brady, Manning, etc., wouldn't those guys eat the zones up?

I see what you mean but let's not act as if the defense isn't being played, the 4-3 is a base D even though the league is copying the 3-4 concept we never were really suited for it with our line being undersized. As of now half the league still plays the 4-3. And we aren't playing all zone because Kiffin knows our CB's strength is man to man. He's already said he's gonna run a hybrid tampa-2 for Claibourne and Carr

I don't think we have to worry about qb's picking it apart because the one thing that makes the tampa 2 work is pressure, we have two all pro DE's with solid depth and we are average at DT as of now unless Ratliff can return to all pro form then we are above that. Our LB's are more suited for the 4-3 because it allows them to use their speed as blitzers and roam from sideline to sideline.

I was never happy with Ware and Spencer being put into coverage in the 3-4, that's stupid to me.

Cmon dog you know we ain't gonna come out there running real plays. We all know Jason Garrett can call some downfield passes, that CAC needs to learn how to run some fucking slants and comeback routes for these big ass WR's we got!!

Yeah running that mid 4.8 he ain't winning too many foot races

To put it in perspective Witten was a mid 4.6 guy

He can catch for sure but he is the worst blocker on the team

Waters is basically doing what Montrae Holland did

Content with being out the game unless the money is right

Yeah, I'm not a fan of paying a nigga that's been on his couch getting fat all that dough. He was a beast in KC but who knows if he's in shape or not?? I'd rather wait for our 2 to come back from injuries I think livings will be available week 1 he just had a chip removed that's minor.

DAMN Witten ran a 4.6:eek: I always thought he was slower than that. But it just goes to show you speed don't mean shit. Give me a sure handed TE that's slow over a fast ass TE that can't catch everyday

If Waters isn't down for coming in for a workout/physical then I'm cool with leaving him on the streets

I don't know if that's it or is it the money

The line won't be that bad of we get Leary back

Let the two scrubs(Livings/Bernadeau) fight for the other spot

I like seeing Arkin actually on the field now time to see what he can do cuz he was a wasted 4th as well

I doubt witten still runs a 4.6 but that was his time coming out of college, he doesn't look fast but he has NEVER had a problem getting open so that should show you he has enough speed right there

Fuck a real play, i just want them to launch a bomb at Dez or Miles and see if it works.

I feel you but we already know that we can do that. I'm for him working on the short game. Too many times last year teams sat on our deep routes because that's all we did. We have 3 physical WR's we need to implement a short passing game for when the run isn't working, but hopefully that isn't the case this year.

Retarded is the word i would use, the Cowboys couldn't get a pass rush because their best pass rushers were following receivers and and backs around the field:smh: Like i said before Wade & Monte understand what D-Ware is and that's what makes them legendary coaches, Rob tried to get cute and showed he's a long way away from being as good as his father & brother.

Yeah, to this day I have no idea how Rob stays employed. He was horrible in Cleveland, Oakland, and Dallas he's not a good coach. And his brother is a horrible head coach. No matter how bad we do the Jets are worse.

It's always the overly cocky fans who get their feelings hurt come December

I will have fun taunting you at that time :D

Yeah u might, but i won't have to wait until December to start taunting you cowboy fans.

It will start early and happen often.

Yup...you right.

So when i see em i point em out.

its all in good humor homie!

:yes::yes::yes:

Boys thought they were NOLA bound last season, this year anything less than playing in Metlife Feb 2nd is a failure...can't wait for this thing to play out.

And honestly, with our schedule, 10 wins will be pure luck.....

The lil homie Case starting to cause havoc I see. Man, I remember when dude first got on campus & was fighting Blake Joseph for reps...dude always had "it". I hope he gets burn for you guys, not a rocket arm, but dude is a "football player". I think yall win 10-12 games again this year.

He wasn't horrible in Oakland and Cleveland. That's actually how he stays employed. Living off his "Ryan" name, his "swagger" and his Oakland and Cleveland days. He had that Browns defense over achieve and been getting jobs ever since. I don't want to speak highly of our defense but to its credit it has had a few seasons of where it was a top 10 defense so its probably the best defense Rob Ryan had personnel wise. So when eh finally got pieces he tried to do too much. Then when the whole defense got hurt he dumbed it down and it got better with players off the street.

He may do something for that Saint's defense being its already bad and he will coach them like they are bad. We gave him all these pieces and he didn't know what to do with it.

Well if its like most years then we'll see you in December with the taunting. Every other month doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'd rather take a chance on waters, Bernadeau/livings I have no confidence in those two,,, It obvious with the Jones looking at Moore and Waters, we're not trying to go into the season with Bernadeau/livings,,, Idk why we didn't address this in the offseason

We need Waters in here man.
If Leary has figured it out and his knee holds up and if Waters is half way decent, this line could be solid to above average.

Now Romo just has to deliver. Its weird, sometimes I think he does better when he has to move around and react rather than have all the time in the world.

He has to make the wide open throws like that Terrance Williams one he missed for the easy 6 because I swear he does that in games where we end up losing 17-13.
When he does miss 'em, the Babe Laughenbergs of the world come with the excuses like yesterday.

Our OLine and DLine has to stay healthy. And I think Holloman should start man.
Durant feels like a wasted pick up and I don't know why Jerry and them were so pressed to pick him up when we had Sims and Albright (out for season now) there from last season as viable options.

Durant's spot could be used to carry an extra WR, lineman or Tanney as a 3rd QB.

Honestly Houston missed their window 2 years ago when noodle arm went down and they had to roll with Yates in the playoffs

That team was super bowl ready

I was actually happy for our little brother team

Now the fans finally got a taste of the playoffs and popping off too much

Trying to create some sort of rivalry with the Cowboys even

Unknown I know you be seeing them boys on Facebook

They in for some crying in the car

Hey it could hold up to be true and we fall into our normal late season collapse.....

But I'd much rather just take a bullet to the head and die quick (possible Texans season) than suffer death by a thousand cuts (possible cowboys season)....

I agree with all of this

But if Waters isn't being cooperative then fuck him

I read today that the Terrence Williams play was a blown route and he should have ran a crossing pattern, they make sure to get any perceived Romo mistake placed onto another individual

Still overthrew the man at the end of the day, why not just leave it at that?

You saw he was running a go route when you let the got damn ball go

Honestly I didn't understand the Durant pick but it's not like it broke the bank I just thought Sims would be perfect for that role given he is really a 4-3 backer anyway

He has been the better player in camp as well

You know how we get about our free agents though, give them spots they don't deserve to save face

I wouldn't start Hollan just yet but next season for sure

Bingo. Romo still saw where he ran to and overthrew him by 5 yards so it doesn't matter if the route was broken, I hate listening to the radio broadcast during the season because Babe always tries to place the mistakes on everyone else besides Romo.

It ain't just Babe fam

It's a whole article on ESPN Dallas that was created just to make sure everyone knows Williams ran the wrong route

There is some brainwashing going on that I'm not going to be a part of

As per Brad Sham, the Waters thing is dead.

And Romo has to hit that throw.

The line has looked decent so far. They need to quit relying on Ratliff. Dude hasn't played in forever. I am very reluctantly :hmm: giving Jerry soem tiny credit for his offseason. I like Garrett much better as a walk around coach, and Kiffin/Marinelli looks like a good hire, draft was decent (no escobar).

But, I will say this one thing. If this defense plays anything like it has this preseason, if this defense is holding teams under 20 points a game and getting turnovers, it should be a good season for the Cowboys.

BIG IF's though.

The defense if healthy should be fine, I like the simplified scheme but we can't lose 7-8 starters again,

Waters still want to play, I think it all about the money,,, we need to do what it takes and sign the man, Smith/ Leary/ Frederick/ waters/ free is a good to great line,,,

Again, y'all going to do something this year?

Other than a key injury or two, there's no excuses why this team shouldn't be in the hunt this season.

Injuries man

Just gotta stay relatively healthy and we can make some noise I promise that

Just lost too many defensive starters and key players last season and didn't have the depth to overcome it due to poor drafting over the years

Offensive line is key as well

Lock up a playoff spot before week 17!!

Cuz I dont trust Romo in that setting

I heard the Brad Sham thing too but then a read somewhere that a source came out afterwards and said that Waters does want to play for the right situation.

That just means he wants Jerry to :money:.

Also, I think Waters signed with New England 2 yrs ago in early Sept.
Like we all on this board said 2 years ago, Jerry should have signed Waters and we wouldn't have this problem.
Bernadue or Living doesn't get signed and we probably draft the heir apparent.

We all wanted Waters in 2011 we could bump threads if we wanted

Jerry was being stubborn

You combine the money we gave Livings and Bernardeau and we could at least have Ben Grubbs

For the life of me how can you invest so much in Tony Romo and stand behind him through it all and cheap out on the offensive line

Taking the pressure off that dude is key. You guys have a lot of weapons that have been in place for years. Divisional games are always going to be a battle but we'll see if Dallas can finally take command of the NFC.
