Plot Summary: In "Another Earth," Rhoda Williams (Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT's astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

Plot Summary: "5 Days of War" is an action-packed international thriller from acclaimed director, Renny Harlin. Based on true events, this intense film is a vivid account of a renegade American journalist, his cameraman and a local woman caught behind enemy lines, and determined to not only survive, but tell the world what was happening, during the swift but devastating 5-day war between Russian and the Georgian Republic in 2008.

Plot Summary: "Jack and Jill" is a comedy focusing on Jack Sadelstein (Adam Sandler), a successful advertising executive in Los Angeles with a beautiful wife and kids, who dreads one event each year: the Thanksgiving visit of his identical twin sister Jill (also Adam Sandler). Jill's neediness and passive-aggressiveness is maddening to Jack, turning his normally tranquil life upside down. Katie Holmes plays Erin, Jack's wife.

Plot Summary: From director Steven Spielberg comes "War Horse," an epic adventure for audiences of all ages. Set against a sweeping canvas of rural England and Europe during the First World War, "War Horse" begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets—British cavalry, German soldiers, and a French farmer and his granddaughter—before the story reaches its emotional climax in the heart of No Man's Land.

The First World War is experienced through the journey of this horse—an odyssey of joy and sorrow, passionate friendship and high adventure. "War Horse" is one of the great stories of friendship and war— a successful book, it was turned into a hugely successful international theatrical hit that is arriving on Broadway next year. It now comes to screen in an epic adaptation by one of the great directors in film history.

Plot Summary: The hot-headed young D'Artagnan (Logan Lerman) joins forces with three rogue Musketeers (Matthew MacFadyen, Luke Evans and Ray Stevenson) in this reboot of Alexandre Dumas' story. They must stop the evil Richlieu (Christoph Waltz) and face off with Buckingham (Orlando Bloom) and the treacherous Milady (Milla Jovovich). The action adventure is given a state of the art update in 3D.

Plot Summary: "Brave" is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida (Kelly Macdonald) is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida's quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

C'mon bruh, you know Hollywood can't promote someone that'll shatter the conceived notion of beauty, thus upsetting every white woman in America. They'll riot in the streets when they realize there is no hope of aging that well.....

Synopsis

Guillermo del Toro presents DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK, a horror film starring Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison, directed by Troy Nixey. Based on the 1973 telefilm that del Toro believes is the scariest TV production ever made, the story follows Sally (Madison), a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father (Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Holmes) in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. While exploring the house, Sally starts to hear voices coming from creatures in the basement whose hidden agenda is to claim her as one of their own. Akin to del Toro's PAN'S LABYRINTH, DON'T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK focuses on a young girl's struggle against menacing and terrifying forces. FilmDistrict will release the film on August 26th.

'Rampage' Jackson In Talks For 'Luke Cage'
By: Derrick Deane on July 13, 2011 at 4:19PM Comments (4)

When we last left the Luke Cage comic movie adaptation, Tyrese Gibson was tentatively attached to the role with John Singleton set to direct a “brutally violent R-rated” movie. That was five years ago. Since then, several other Marvel superheroes jumped to the big screen, namely Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and next week, Captain America. You can attribute this sudden revitalization of the Luke Cage movie to the upcoming Avengers movie, of which Cage is a prominent member.

Recently Isaiah Mustafa aka the Old Spice commercial guy participated in a photo shoot as Cage (which you can watch here) along with a promo video and the web was suddenly ablaze with Cage rumors. OK, maybe more like a tempered burn. Now we hear that MMA fighter and one-time B.A. Baracus, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson is in talks for the role.

Certainly Marvel and Disney want to get a Luke Cage movie out there and with the Avengers movie joining a third Iron Man and a Hulk reboot in the works, now seems like a perfect time. Jackson, not lacking of confidence, has said, “I don’t think there’s anyone out there who would be a more believable Luke Cage than me.”

Do you agree? Are Terry Crews and Ving Rhames, though slighty older than Rampage, worth taking into consideration?

Chris Pine as the Rebooted 'Robocop'?
By: Derrick Deane on July 12, 2011 at 4:27PM Comments (21)
The latest round of Robocop reboot rumors finds Chris Pine as the front runner to play the role made famous by Peter Weller. Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves and even Johnny Depp were once considered for the role but it seems MGM is now looking for a younger leading man and Pine is leading the pack, though no official offer has been made just yet.

Pine is set to star in J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel next year and also has a couple other big budget movies already on his schedule. A Robocop movie might not work into his schedule. Jose Padilha (Elite Squad 2) is set to direct the movie with a 2013 target date.

If Pine can’t work the reboot into his schedule or decides to pass once an offer is made, who do you think could play Detroit’s super cyborg cop?

In the film, Caius Martius 'Coriolanus' (Fiennes), a revered and feared Roman General is at odds with the city of Rome and his fellow citizens. Pushed by his controlling and ambitious mother Volumnia (Redgrave) to seek the exalted and powerful position of Consul, he is loath to ingratiate himself with the masses whose votes he needs in order to secure the office. When the public refuses to support him, Coriolanus’s anger prompts a riot that culminates in his expulsion from Rome. The banished hero then allies himself with his sworn enemy Tullus Aufidius (Butler) to take his revenge on the city.

Plot Summary: The new "Harold & Kumar" comedy picks up six years after the duo's last adventure. After years of growing apart, Harold Lee (John Cho) and Kumar Patel (Kal Penn) have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar's door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold's house ends with the "high grade" contents—and Harold's father-in-law's prize Christmas tree— going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.

Plot Summary: From the producers of "Shaun of the Dead" and "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" comes "Attack the Block," a fast funny, frightening action adventure movie that pits a teen gang against an invasion of savage alien monsters. It turns a London tower block into a fortress under siege, and a weapon wielding teenage thugs into heroes. It's inner city versus outer space.
Currently showing in limited theaters.

Plot Summary: A mysterious drifter (Josh Hartnett) and an ardent young Japanese warrior Yoshi (Gackt) both arrive in a town that has been terrorized by outrageous and virulent criminals. Each is obsessed with his separate mission, and guided by the wisdom of The Bartender (Woody Harrelson) at the Horseless Horseman Saloon, the two eventually join forces to bring down the corrupt and contemptuous reign of Nicola (Ron Perlman), the awesomely evil "woodcutter" and his lady Alexandra (Demi Moore), a femme fatale with a secret past. This classic tale is re-vitalized and re-imagined in an entirely fresh visual context, set in a unique world that mixes skewed reality with shadow-play fantasy, a place where even the landscape can betray you. Heroes triumph here only because the force of their will transforms and transcends both space and time. The world of "Bunraku" is past and present, fantasy and reality, Samurai and Western all combined. Like "Sin City" and "300," it gives classic conflict a whole new graphically supercharged dynamic. Resonating through a wide range of cultures and showcasing a mind-blowing array of martial arts disciplines, "Bunraku" is a fresh arena for breathtaking fight action.

Plot Summary: An ex-Navy seal (Mehcad Brooks), his girlfriend (Serinda Swan) and their friends head out on a road trip to New Orleans. The group decides to stop at a roadside convenience store owned by Chopper (Sid Haig), who tells them the tale of Lockjaw, a fabled god-like creature who is half-man, half-alligator.

The legend has it that an inbred local man by the name of Grimley (Daniel Bernhardt) lost his family to a monstrous white alligator, which then drove him to madness and some believe he was transformed into that very creature that now haunts the depths of the swamps. Their curiosity peaked, the group decides to play along with the local tourist trap and journey deep into the backwoods to find the old dilapidated cabin which is supposed to be the birthplace of the creature.

As they set-up camp for the night, their faith is put to the test when Lockjaw turns out to be more than just a myth and they realize the locals are hiding a horrifying secret that jeopardizes them all.
