BIG TRADES:

Johnathan Vilma to the New Orleans Saints from New York Jets in exchange for a conditional 2009 draft pick based on playing time.

Corey Williams, DT, to the Cleveland Browns from Green Bay Packers in exchange for the 2nd rounder this year.

DT Kris Jenkins to the Jets from Carolina Panthers in exchange for a 3rd and 5th round draft pick.

The Miami Dolphins will acquire DT Jason Ferguson and a 2008 sixth-round draft choice from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2008 sixth-round draft choice and a 2009 sixth-round draft choice.

Detroit Lions trade DT Shaun Rodgers to the Browns traded for a third-round draft pick CB Leigh Boden.

Buffalo Bills have completed a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars for defensive tackle Marcus Stroud. The price the Bills paid to the Jaguars was a pair of draft picks, third- and fifth-rounders.

Randy Moss staying or going? Who will be the first name off the board at 12:01?

They aren't gonna franchise Moss, but they may Transition tag him even though he doesn't want that. They could offer him a deal at the last minute, but who knows. Jerry "I Don't Want A Salary Cap" Jones has said he wants him if he goes free, but I expect Asante Samuel and Lance Briggs to be the first off the board.

last minute? Dude they either have a contract waiting for him to announce at 12:01 or he is going on the open market. Rumors on philly sports talk radio is that the birds have a deal with samuels that they will announce at midnight.

Same thing with Samuels to the Saints and Bucs. Johnathan Vilma is expected to be traded tonight or tomorrow to the Saints. Jets will either get a 3rd or a 4th for 2009 Draft. Conditional pick.

I've said it for the past couple years, but who ever gets Michael Turner will gain a very prosperous running attack.

True, but the 2008 NFL draft rb class is very deep. Does it make sense to sign a vet free-agent rb so early and eat up cap space so soon?

The Oakland Raiders stepped forward Thursday on the eve of free agency and signed Tommy Kelly to the largest contract ever given to a defensive tackle.

Kelly, a defensive end scheduled to move to defensive tackle this season, signed a seven-year, $50.5 million contract Thursday that has $18.125 million in guarantees. In the first three years of the deal, he will make $25.125 million.

:hmm:

The Atlanta Falcons Should Trade DeAngelo Hall And Warrick Dunn To The Cleveland Browns For QB Derek Anderson And Since They Got The 3rd Overall Pick In The 2008 Draft They Should Take Darren McFadden Then The Falcons Would Have A Good Team.

I ACTUALLY AGREE WITH THIS BUT WHAT DO YOU GIVE UP THIS YEARS FIRST AND THIRD OR NEXT YEARS?

I REALLY HOPE THAT DOES'NT HAPPEN !!!

Even though I KNOW they aren't going to let Roy Williams go, I really wish they would pickup another safety and a cornerback. I swear if Jones lets Marion Barber go i'm jumping ship.

OK maybe not but i'm still going to be mad as hell.:hmm:

Jets close in on Faneca

The free-agent signing period opened at midnight, and the Jets were expected the strike quickly. The target: Steelers LG Alan Faneca.

The Jets are poised to make Faneca an $8 million-a-year offer and, barring an upset, they will get their man. The official announcement may not happen for a day or two, but those in the know believe it’s a fait accompli. It’s never done until the ink is on the paper, but the Jets are expected to outbid the Rams and 49ers.

Faneca, 31, is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection. He would fill a gaping hole at left guard, sliding between LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson and C Nick Mangold.

Now look for them to pursue the Lions’ Damien Woody to play right tackle. He has been a guard and center most of his career - he was benched at guard midway through last season - but played the final five games of 2007 at right tackle. And did a pretty good job, I’m told.

Clearly, with the Jonathan Vilma, Kris Jenkins and Faneca moves (Jenkins isn’t quite a done deal, I’m told), the Jets intend to be major players this offseason.

yea i know
i really dont know how to feel about the signing of Muhammad
Id rather get a young fresh WR but we'll see what happens

They tried that with Dwayne Jarrett, Drew Carter and Keary Colbert; if anything Moose can be the mentor Keyshawn Johnson shoulda been before they cut him. Steve Smith definitely needs help tho, the Panthers receiving corp hasn't been the same since they lost Moose and Ricky Proehl.

Here goes some updates:

Mark Simoneau (MLB) resigns with Saints
Jeff Faine (C) signs with Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Justin Smiley (OG) signs with Miami Dolphins

Asante Samuel is close to signing either with the Eagles or Saints
Alan Faneca is close to signing with the Jets

ALSO BIG NEWS:

The Giants and Saints are close to making a deal for Jeremy Shockey in exchange for a conditional second or third round pick in 2009 or a 2nd and 4th this year per Rotoworld.com.

Damn the Saints suffered the same fate as every non-Holmgren coached team to lose the Super Bowl in the past ten years and they going nuts in free agency.

looking at that list of QB's....i see why the bears had to kinda stick with what they had.
better luck next year with that STAR QB signing i guess
