nah -only about 30 to 40% on the pattern
but the bpm range was locked in solid for pop / new jack swing / r&b / club to hit

The attitude of those times yes 88-92 were great years, the music not so much so IMO. I always thought the New Jack sound was super generic. Some people excelled at it and those songs are in my rotation. I am not hating I just preferred my music with more of an organic real instrument sound.

We know that T-Pain was involved in the writing of Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak, but last he spoke about it, he revealed that 'Ye had dismissed his ideas as "weak," even recording a strange "diss" track in the midst of the sessions.
Still, according to Pain, the album was very much shaped by his own album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, which celebrated its 10th anniversary this week.
Speaking to Billboard, Pain referred to 808s as a "direct copy" of his debut when speaking about the extensive influence of the album.
"I’m not just being a dick saying that shit sounds a lot like mine," the hitmaker clarified. "Like literally [Kanye] told me that he listened to Rappa Ternt Sangaand he made 808s & Heartbreak".
Pain then revealed that he got involved with the project simply to give 'Ye that specific feel. "He even brought me in to make it sound more like Rappa Ternt Sanga. [Laughs.] Something that I did that was directly copied got so many awards -- that’s evidence right there."

IIRC, T La Rock's "It's Yours" was the first rap record to use the decay function of the bass in a song. Cats in Miami took it further by turning the decay all the way up for that booming bass sound.
