15 people in a one bedroom asking for help in ATL

Man, you good. We kept some of the kids during the summer, and they a thirst to learn. They just can’t stay in a school longer than a month at a time.
Thats the fucked up part. When you can't take care of yourself you can't do shit for your kids. It affects their ability to learn in school. Fucks up their entire future. Very sad for the kids.

This. Their plan is to go through their whole life expecting & believing they'll be helped by others no matter what they do.

Its tough if you got people like this in your family but you really have to keep a distance from them & don't fall for the okie doke.
Very true

The oldest child is in the 8th grade, maybe 9th now. Being around his parents, they got him thinking that college is the worse thing in the world.

Then he stayed with me, and I got to introduce him to what I do as a professor and meteorologist. He was reading my textbooks, looking at my weather system, and wanting to learn math. I was just offering him a different perspective.

His parents are the type that are deep into conspiracy shit, because as long as they believe that, then they can make excuses why shit isn’t working out for them.

I remember telling my cousin when he was 19, that his mom and crackhead daddy made life for him tough. But because he was 19 with no record, I saw nothing but possibilities. I said “whatever you do, don’t have any kids until you’re stable.”

He did the opposite. His mother wanted the grandbabies, but they also saw tax money with it, too. 5 kids later, here we are.

They have a thing where they send mass text message to family members asking to “borrow” money.

My wife called my cousins wife out on doing that. Then my cousins wife got offended talking about “we aren’t a charity case.”

Brain broken.
So many of us have been conditioned to not be able to get out of our own way.

Think about how many people had to drop the ball and how many times?

Shit is by design.

Yeah, these are folks who learned the wrong habits, and don’t know how to break from it.

It’s absolutely by design and it’s working well, unfortunately.

And my story isn’t the only case for sure. I know someone going through a similar issue in a different way.

I would love to tell that one because the guy going through this situation just got finished doing a bid in prison about 2 years ago. He came out clean and reformed. Got his CDLs, but his family is trying to pull him down again.

Relatives (not family) be THE WORST!

It's a shame and psychologically challenging to not have a support system.

Man, you have no idea how triggering this post is for me.

I’m dealing with a family in a similar situation right now. I’ll be as brief as possible.

In 2023, my wife's mother gave us a 2003 Durango. It was in good condition, but it was sitting in our driveway and nobody was using it. My cousin and his wife, with their 5 kids, were moving from extended stay to extended stay or couch-hopping with whoever would take them in.

They moved into a trailer park in December 2023. Finally, stability. So out of the kindness of my heart, because I want to help those who are trying to come up. No strings attached, I put $2500 into fixing that Durango up with brand new tires, and I GAVE it to them because it was the perfect size car for their family. Of course, we transferred the title to my cousin, and I paid 6 months of insurance for them. His insurance, of course. Oh, and I paid all his fees from a previous vehicle he lost. So it was really over $3k.

These negroes got $15k in tax return money and were evicted in May of 2024. I have no idea where that money went. Oh, it gets worse.

So they moved into an extended stay until they couldn’t afford it anymore. Lived with whoever would take them in, and you already know water seeks its own level, so they were staying with some shitty folks.

I found out in the summer of 2024 that my cousin “sold” the Durango to his brother for $300 (of course, they never switched the title). Why? I have no idea! Just dumb nigga shit.

In September 2024, they moved in with my wife’s mother, and it was terrible for her. Everywhere they go, they fuck up shit because they don’t know how to take care of anything. When they were in the trailer, I gave them my daughter’s bedroom set so their little girls could have a decent bed. Plus, my daughter needed something new anyway, but it was in great condition. They lost that bedroom set in the eviction.

Anyway, they drove my wife’s mother CRAZY. The wife doesn’t do shit! Just absolutely sorry. She can’t cook or clean, and she can't take care of herself.

Wife’s mother kicked them out in January of this year. In the meantime, they are couch-hopping and, when they can afford it, taking extended stays. Tax season rolls around, my cousin repurchases the Durango from his brother, who sells it back to him for $2k!! Then the very next day, his brother is sent to prison for 10 years!!

I’m so triggered to type this.

In May, someone driving the Durango was involved in an accident. And in June, the car was involved in a hit-and-run. Here is the kicker.

Because these negroes didn’t have insurance or a license, there was no one responsible to cover the damage of the vehicle they hit. So USAA puts that shit on us because they couldn’t find them. How? Your guess is as good as mine!

We told Geico why they are even entertaining this because we don’t own the car. That shit dragged all summer until Geico finally closed the case.

Well, USAA is still looking for someone responsible, and since we were the last known and accessible title holder with insurance, they are going after us to cover the cost. This is what I am dealing with right now.

We tried to help. We gave them so much help freely because we wanted them to do better.

Now, it's fuck them. All their kids are illiterate because they can’t stay in school. I have no idea where they are at, and frankly, I don’t give a shit. So people don’t know how to receive help, and I am learning that lesson the hard way.

What’s funny, my weed man said he would buy that Durango for 3k in cash before I gave it to my cousin, but I turned him down because I'd given my word to my cousin and his family. In hindsight, that was stupid of me, but I stand by my word when I commit to something like that.

:smh:

Sorry for the long rant. I had to get that off my chest. I’m so mad at them niggas, you have no idea.
similar story with homeboy. He was down bad, let him move family in and spiraled from there. of course we are no longer friends and I had to pay 10k for his fuck ups. I don't feel sorry for adults who can't get it together

Yeah it's sad but I counted atleast 5 adults who could be working fast food or at some gas station during the day and build on that but back in the days I remember knowing families that were like this family where they all depended on welfare or government money and they still would be behind on rent and get put out, depending on one car and babies falling out the door when you knocked.

Some just can't be helped cause they'll use and abuse every situation their in even if it's bad.

I rather give someone some cash before i let them move in with me.

I have lost several friends because i told them they cant stay with me.
One person would ask every couple yrs after they got themselves in some mess. Like do you not respect my boundaries? She stopped talking to me after the last No, had to charge it to the game. That was my dawg too.

I need a proof of residency policy before anyone can stay with me. I got to know if they got somewhere to go back to. Mofos be hurt when they hear that.

I’ve seen too many time where people would stay longer than expected and started treating the owner as a guest in their own home.

Wheww! Jesus Christ. Being that I work for USAA that shit is throwing me for a loop. If you signed over the title and its recorded at the DMV how is it they are trying to come after you? I gotta ask my teammate who was in claims cause that shit doesn't make any sense.

I know a family like this who lives in a single wide trailer. It's about 4 women and 6 kids there. I've been helping them out now and then for almost 20 years.

Right? USAA must have covered the damages for their customer since my cousin didn’t have insurance. They sent the damage cost to a debt collector, and the debt collector has been aggressively reaching out to us. The debt collector is Wilber Group.

So, we reached out to USAA and they wanted US to provide proof we don’t own the car. And my wife was like “FUCK YOU.” We called Gieco back and told them what was happening, and they reach out to Wilber Group telling them to no longer contact us because the they already established we don’t own it.

Wilber Group or USAA are no longer to contact us about the matter, now that Gieco has stepped on our behalf. But we also have a lawyer on standby in we have to further escalate with a cease and desist letter.

Check out Wilber Groups reviews on google. That’s one of the agencies USAA use for debt collection. Apparently, we aren’t the only ones they done this too. Very similar stories from people being blamed for accidents for cars they previously owned but no longer is the title holder.

Ok, I see that makes some sense now. I've actually had to deal with something similar with one of these debt collection agencies. They are basically fishing for dumbasses who will get scared and pay. I had ticket in a local municipality here in San Antonio like almost 20 years ago. I went down to the policy station paid it after they sent it to collections and 10 years later this law office was still trying to collect even after I told them it was paid with proof. They have no regard to check the record of anything. They know 'get they'll a person who will shell out some money just to make it go away, but I said fuck it. I'm ignoring all that shit and nothing has happened. They probably still sending those dumbass mailers to my old address I imagine. Very annoying.

Damn, slick. This is real shitty to hear. You're a good dude, I can tell. I've had my own thing with trying to help family, coming out of pocket trying to help.

One cousin I let borrow my car for 2 months because I work from home. When she finally did give me my shit back Why does she give me the car back on empty?

A lot of people cause their own problems and you, feeling sorry for them, are just draining your own pockets and enabling them.

BUT

I consider it "tithing". I don't go to church, and I don't believe in paying for some greedy pastor's life and Bentley or Jag, but this is what I consider tithing. You're helping someone out and even if you never get that money back, your heart was in the right place.

I think of the good things that happened in my life, it's because of the karma I gained from doing stuff like that. At least that's what I tell myself

We must be related. I'm struggling to keep my mother from bankrupting herself to provide for my dopefiend cousin and her endless supply of children. It's damn near impossible to takeover finances for an elder whose brains aren't working right anymore. The economy depends on the spending of people like my cousin but they don't want it to come from taxes if possible. That's why child support laws are the way they are.

No doubt. Like I told my wife, it isn’t just going to disappear. So let handle it so we can move on.

But I appreciate the board for letting me get this off my chest.

I share the same perspective as you. I my tith is what I do for others with no expectations of anything in return. What I don’t like is how kindness and have negative repercussions for not fault of your own.

It’s all good though. I understand better now that I should help others that are capable of helping themselves advance to the next level, and not fall harder because they shitty decision-makers about everything.

Man, my mother and her current situation is another story :smh:

Some folks make life more challenging than necessary just because they are so used to getting over on others.

My cousin is the type where him and his wife would send mass text asking for money just to increase their chances that someone would bit. And use their kids as a means to get people to feel sorry for them.

So before you feel sorry for everyone in that video, ask yourself how they got there in the first place. That shit didn’t happen over night.

And I get it. People go through shit. I will not trivialize circumstances. The kids are usually the ones I feel sorry for.
Too many great points in your post but dam dam dam :smh: :smh:
