$15 minimum wage would cost N.Y. up to 588,800 jobs, report says

Fuck it.... I hope it gets raised and we can see how it works out. May cost a few jobs but in the end it'll probably do more good than harm. ...and if businesses use it as an excuse to get rid of people..... People should pick a sector and boycott the shit out of it. For the most part they need us more than we need them.

I don't think there are many business owners on this board or else there would be a more objective viewpoint for this.

Do you know how much it costs to hire and keep employees? The actual out of pocket expenses?

Simply, if you're making a $15 an/hour salary then it's ultimately costing me around $21-23 dollars an hour to employ you. Federal and state taxes, workers compensation, etc...never mind the goddamn benefits for leave, holidays, etc. Don't forget out about the first 90 days, shit...having to shed time to interview, pay for background checks and drug tests and shit. I'm thankful I have a big book of business and reasonable tax levels here in NC but NY? Motherfucking NY? Absolutely not unless I was in like Western or Northern New York where I could get a little reprieve with the local tax rates.

With all due respect, people don't care about business owners. They care about their own pockets. Business owners have a bad reputation due to the corporate ghouls who want to hog everything for themselves.

People see corporate ghouls begging the government to let more Asians into the country with work visas because they claim there aren't enough workers here. :hmm: They see jobs being shipped overseas. They see all the fuckery.

Meanwhile, small and medium-sized business owners seem to get it from both ends.

This shit is just a mess all the way around. But at the end of the day, corporate greed is to blame. And even when wages are raised, the greedy fucks seem to find a way to make people pay. :smh:

oh no they don't because its always somebody who will work for less.

Ask people who work at Marta in Atlanta whats happening to them. All them old heads who making bread getting pushed out for niggas who will work for cheap. People so desperate for work they will to take anything..............

Oh yes they do bruh... Do you need Wendy's or 7-11 more than they need you? Do you need Olive garden or Target more than they need you? Trust me, if even a relatively small part of the population decided to organize and boycott fast food for a week, they would feel it...they would be hurt much more than the people boycotting. Not one person alive needs to eat at Wendy's..... But Wendy's NEEDS many people to buy their food.

Here's the thing, corporations aren't going to take the loss point blank, period. It's really not even worth discussing that angle. People seem to forget that the vast majority of large corporations didn't come what they are by looking out for their employees. That's just the way it's gonna be and exactly why they'll just offset their losses by firing people and raising their prices. Honestly, look at any country around the world that pays their employees a lot of money and see how much it costs to live there. Australia, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark...Singapore....France...Italy.. Yes, you'll make good money, but by the time you factor in how much more it costs to live you really aren't gaining shit at all.

Australian Minimum wage: $15

Bullshit, these Cacs are so fucking greedy
They REFUSE to let ANYBODY come in between
Their boats and the weekend house in Sag Harbor

I've worked minimum wage jobs when I was in high school and I quickly learned that I wasn't going to make it if i had to do it full time. I worked a a grocery store pushing in the shopping carts, bagging groceries, cleaning bathrooms, spills, etc... I was making $5.25 per hour at the time and maybe bring in in about $100 a week working part time. I was living with my parents but new I didn't have a shot living on my own making minimum wage.

I quickly learned that I had to get serious about getting better skills so I could earn more money. I stayed on the grind for the rest of High School through College and was able to get out of the minimum wage trap.

At the end of the day if you don't like the situation you're in you cant wait for the government to raise your wages or for your boss to give you one out of the goodness of his heart. People have to get better skills themselves so that they become more valuable and can demand a higher wage. There is a wealth of information available online to us with everything being online but it has to be put to use.

Example if you have a minimum wage job, don't go home and complain about it on Facebook. Go home, read some tutorials, watch some YouTube videos and learn to code. Get some books from the library and get certified...

This is an example but there are a lot of other ways to enhance your skill set or be an entrepreneur. People just have to start grinding.

I'm all for this $15/hr minimum wage........once it's all said and done the computerized kiosk will be much more pleasant to deal with than some uneducated loser in life with a nasty attitude who feels entitled because he makes $15/hr....

people forget that minimum wage jobs were never meant for you to live off of......these are jobs for high school/college kids that still live at home, for them to get some experience in the workforce.......these jobs were never meant for you to raise a family. :smh:

i get what your saying but i think we are talking about two different things. Im talking about employees not customers. Of course its easy for customers to say fuck a Wendy's!

No body going to stop working at wendy's because people are desperate to work. If you went in a Wendy's right now and said lets boycott for 15 dollars a hire the average person in there going to say "hell naw i aint trying to get fired"

Then lets just say if they get that 15 dollars a hr company's i shady as fuck they will cut the shit outta them niggaz hrs or they will hire someone desperate who willing to work for less Ive seen it all before bro.

Why you think when u go to Krogers and places like that people look like shit. They look fucking miserable. Its no standards any more when hiring people. Its all about who they can get in while paying them the least amount of money. Hell now at most jobs your not even allowed to discussed your salary or you will get fired GEeeez i wonder why................

Wall Street managers were paid an astounding $708 million in fiscal year 2015 to handle the city’s pension system — but did such a terrible job that taxpayers were forced to cough up $9.9 billion to make up for their shortfalls.

And they cry about minimum wage gtfoh :smh:

bill gates make billions a yr how did that effect ur pay raise:rolleyes: tom cruise makes 20 mil a film once again how much more money did u make because of that..center from the clippers juss got 100 mil contract did ur salary go up or the price of potatoes..it's funny how when rich nigs get paid more nobody goes the sky is falling but as soon as a few poor people get a lil more bread it's hide under ur beds the world bout to end

why do people always use the term these jobs were meant for kids when they clearly were not..perfect example some of these stores open up at 5am close at 12am or some are open 24hrs..soooooooooooo how are school kids suppose to work these hrs if more than likely they're at school?? it would almost be impossible for these bizzness to solely survive using highschool/college kids..average highschool kid in class from like 8am-3pm..that's the breakfast crowd/lunch crowd that's primetime hrs that workforce wouldn't be able to come in..these bizzness would lose a shitload of bread if they clearly was targeting highschool/college kids as their employees

Yeah, I was talking about consumers showing corporations some consumer power... just for the fuck of it. Businesses are gonna do what they're gonna do, and they're gonna pass costs on to someone somehow, but a small group of people (relative to the population) can really affect their bottom lines. To protest hourly wages, people that want it raised and/or don't want jobs cut if it's raised, can agree to boycott, and if any business sees a significant revenue drop due to a boycott like that, they will most definitely take notice of the underlying reason. I just would love them to get a taste of consumer power.

yep..especially to your last sentence..that goes for all big bizz even none that deal with minimum wage debate

You just said people dont care about business owners and then said small and medium business owners get it badly, not really sure where you were going, no disrespect. I'm a medium sized business owner and I'm talking from experience and as much as I love having the reliability and that interaction with my employees, the government makes it damn hard to maintain a balancing act between being a good employer and thinking about long term solvency. My saving grace is that my business has nothing to do with fast food and my employees usually come in the door with tested customer service skills and knowledge but these fast food fucks who are demanding more money but can't even count your change right pose an issue for me.

If I start my service reps at 14 an hour and these sum bitches at McDonald's get 15 flipping burgers, these niggas gonna be looking at me crazy wondering when the raise coming? Now I gotta be competitive with McDonald's? Burger King? I doubt most of my folks would willingly leave to work on burgers but you never know and filling seats with good talent is more difficult than is realized.

Bill Gates OWNS Microsoft lol. Tom Cruise is a skilled actor whose movies have raked in BILLIONS of dollars. The center for the clippers generates millions in revenue through ratings and merchandise sales. These are what you call, skilled positions. A person flipping burgers can be replaced by a bum off the street with an hour worth of training and is one of the least valuable pieces of a corporations puzzle. This really needs to be explained?

I never said the minimum wage shouldn't be raised, but you same dudes are going to be complaining your asses off when your rent/mortgage double and it costs $10 for a gallon of milk as a result of it. Everyone is campaigning for it but not looking at the other countries that already do this and how people are affected by it. Same way people were boasting Canada's universal healthcare not mentioning their ridiculous ass taxes that pay for it and the fact that in some places they have to wait months to get something as simple as an MRI. It always sounds good just to take an action but no one wants to look at the cause and effect of those moves.

I own a couple of places, one which I own and control solely. All in NYC. For Payroll, i estimate it costs about $5 an hour per employee in payroll expenses, taxes, social, etc. I wouldnt be affected by the $15 an hour because it isnt an across the board wage for all workers. Its for fast food workers. When it becomes ana cross the board thing I will have to sit down and look at my numbers and figure out how I'm going to make it.

But these big fast food franchises have the economies of scale to pay this and not skip a beat. Smaller places not so much. Higher wages are a good thing overall. U just have to figure out if you can be profitable with new rules, if not, sell ur place or change ur business.
