A buddy of mine has 3 million subs on youtube and collects $40-$50k A MONTH on ad revenue. It's an incredibly tough and rare gig to succeed at, but at that level, very lucrative.

Tangent to that, he said the channels for makeup and such get four to five times the return he does on ad revenue. They can get $100k+ for an ad spot/mention in a single video, in addition to the Youtube ad revenue.
