1/12/11 What is everybody else reading?

If you like Y: The Last Man, let me suggest Powers by Brian Michael Bendis. Its dope and gonna be a tv show on fx next year, get on board now!

I love Chew by Layman its a consistently entertaining amount of story in each book, you can see the work he and the artist (who is black, btw, his name escapes me) put into this every month.

Kirkman is my favorite thing out right now, you gotta be up on the Walking Dead, but INVINCIBLE as well. shocked more ppl dont know about that shit, but its a fresh look on some iconic themes, it does not disappoint.

SCALPED by Jason Aaron is about a murder on a reservation, its INSANELY well plotted. Its like the WIRE in a comic, book with native americans verse the fbi in present day arizona. not a 'cape' book very realistic Eisner winning.

I like Crossed its a little over the top but I can dig it. I really enjoyed some book called chiba that i think geechiedan posted a link to thats still working.

The Boys is great if you start from the beginning the monthlies kinda blow but it started out epic. Also really digging Irredeemable by Mark Waid psychotic superman- YES!! I got more but my fingers tired

A lot of good stuff has been named already. To add a few:

Marvel: Daredevil and Thunderbolts might be my favorites that they are putting out. Also the new Wolverine & The X-Men has been surprisingly good. I have shied away from the mutant books over the years as they have milked that concept to death, but it it's well written I'm not gonna act like it's not.

DC: Gotta co-sign on Batwing, the art is great and the story is ok too. Animan Man has been good too, but it's definitely a "weird" book so I can see where it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea.

Independents:

Valen the Outcast - this is my new joint right here. Anyone who was a fan of Conan comics back in the day will probably dig this.

More as I think of them...

Spawn

Yep - I recently got into this and really like the storyline they got going on.

New Spawn using his powers to heal the sick and ill going national and on the dl killing and hunting down demons and horrors...No Al Simmons to be found but some old character just popped up from the previous books. Has a serious horror vibe.

68 series

Zombie book set in 1968 and going forward from there.

Infestation 2

Can't wait and really into Lovecraft mythos.

Everything else I'm read are like one shot graphic novels.

PICKED a TON OF TPB for .50 from the Graphic Novel bonanaza in Harlem from last weekend.

Completed my TOP 10 collection.

update.

X-Factor, X-Force, Wolverine and The X-Men, Batman, Suicide Squad, Chew, The Boys, Invincible, Scalped and all the Transformers stuff. I wouldn't give a penny to this site if it wasn't for Frontline.

If I had to narrow it down Chew, X- Force, Scalped, and Transformers.

Also everybody go read Fear Agent. great story, writing, and unlike a lot of comics it had a damn well written ending. Remender is the Truth

Though I have the original issues, I haven't read the Walt Simonson run on "THOR" since the early 80s. I copped the files from the "Comics New Releases" thread. And after reading them , I plan on copping the Omnibus of these. Shit was, and still is AMAZING! The BEST "THOR" ever!

And the introduction of BETA RAY BILL!
I so want that Fucker in the next "THOR" flick.

started reading the walking dead again. i read them all, but wanted to go back and read again. Im up to the issue where the Governor finds the prison. Man, this show sucks. all the shit they changed. Not saying they have to do whats exactly in the comics, but at least try to get it as close as possible.
