* Update a week after the card ... good highlight clip ------------->

Great highlight clip here from the overseas BEYOND THE OCTAGON show on BT Sport. Journalist/media member Gareth A. Davies with the narration. If you like his work ... check out the UFC World podcast ... he has some pretty good guests/interviews. That said ... this clip recaps the card pretty well, and for those who missed the main event ... scroll to the 3:38 MARK as they give you a FEW MINUTES of highlights of Aldo-Mendes II ... good shit!!

Enjoy the fights tonight, everyone. Should be interesting to see how ALDO-MENDES II plays out ... with them first having competed nearly 3 years ago in January of 2012. In the co-main Glover Teixeira matches up with Phil Davis. It'll be interesting to see how the 2 of them rebound after losses earlier in the year to Jon Jones and Anthony Davis respectively. I'll add some links in a bit ... just a heads-up for the fam' who will be tuning in for the event tonight. One.

The UFC need to come up with better fight cards. They are having these fights I don't even want to see because we all know what the outcome is going to be. They need to put Anthony Pettis against José Aldo, that's a fight we all want to see. Soon UFC fans of us are going to Bellator to watch fights. They better start having more exciting fights and not these lame ass fights. I'm losing more and more interest on every fight they have.

True. They spread themselves thin when they have so many cards throughout the various TV, PPV, and Fight Pass platforms ... the TUF seasons tying up fighters during the year (i.e. - Pettis, Melendez, Velasquez, Werdum, and more) ... and all the INJURIES that fuck up cards ... especially all the MAIN EVENTER & CO-MAINTER fighters that have postponed/cancelled fights & bouts this past year (Velasquez, Pettis, Jones, Lauzon, Sanchez, Barao, Faber, GSP, Silva, Hendricks, Condit, and countless more). Not to mention all the injuries incurred during fights and training alike. Joe Silva and Sean Shelby get paid the big bucks for a reason as matchmakers. These cards are forever getting adjusted

Will the last brazilian champion fall tonight?

If Aldo wants to remain champion he will have to finish the fight early, I don't think he has the gas tank to go 5 round against Mendes.

Injuries are what's fucking up all of these cards. I guess over-training and dudes worried about taking a loss because of sometimes minor injuries are rampant. Crazy because for example. Jon Jones used to get it on 4 times a year. A. Silva too I think. But when they get on and get that big sponsor money or have something big to lose, all of a sudden they pull out of a fight because of a hangnail. Not A. Silva, I'm just saying I remember he used to fight more frequent. They should start more interim titles. No way a fighter should be able to have a title and not fight at least twice a year.

He just needs to dominate 3 and not get washed the rest.

Might, be good, but I've never been a fan of superfights unless one is leaving the division for good. To me it says that either one guy is dominating the higher weight class when he should be lower..which says the contenders in that class are garbage...or the other guy should really be in the higher weight class and just got a title by beating up guys that are too small. If not, they should just have fewer weight classes.

It would be something to see Aldo fall tonight.

- Silva having lost his in July 2013, and then the leg break in Dec'
- Barao having lost his in May 2014 & not being able to make the rematch in Sept.
- Aldo having been so dominant throughout the years in both the WEC and UFC respectively

Good strong finish for Magny
He still needs to learn on how to use his height and length
with his kick boxing

Yeah. Mad props to him. 1-2 when he first entered the UFC, and 5-0 since (all in 2014). That's wassup! Him and Donald Cerrone stay working and collecting paper!

Decent fights so far... I've never been impressed with Magnys fighting, but his 5 fight win streak this year is impressive.
The Ufc really does need to step it up though on some of these cards

Good job by Maldonado. Nice to see him get back on track after stepping up short notice months ago to HEAVYWEIGHT and getting KO'd in 30 seconds by Stipe Miocic.

Enjoying this Davis/Teixeira fight so far. I don't mind watching Phil's wrestling when he's busy and active like this. THIS is the type of performance I wish he had shown years back against Rashad Evans, and anything's better than his lackluster decision loss to Anthony Johnson months ago. He couldn't get anything going in that fight. This was a clear 10-9 for him over Teixeira in round 1. Working for the takedown. Not allowing Glover to get going with the stand-up attack.

Phil Davis got some of the best mma grappling in the ufc
I like his knees to the body but he has to
get better with his ground n pound striking
His boxing still sucks though

good win over glover though
