►►► UFC on Fuel TV: Barao vs. McDonald - Saturday, Feb. 16th (DAYTIME tv card)

Friendly reminder for all our BGOL MMA massive ... tomorrow's card is from overseas, and per the timezone differences globally ... make sure you check your local listings for the DAYTIME broadcast. Here in Canada we get it on 1 or more of our Sportsnet affiliates as we don't have Fuel TV, but it varies for other parts of the world as well. Also, keep in mind there are a number of fights on the UFC's Facebook page too (PRELIMS) ... so check those out if you're online & interested in a few hours of bouts before the tv portion kicks in. Also, take a look at your listings too in case there are some rebroadcasts later in the day if you missed the initial airing. Sports networks are always a mindfuck. Hell - we've got something like 5 or 6 different versions of Sportsnet for the various provinces ... 2 or so for TSN, 1 for The Score, etc.

* The co-mains should be fun ... Barao-McDonald at 135lbs, and Swanson-Poirier at 145lbs. These cats are exciting.

Have fun with NBA All-Star Weekend too, everyone.

Micheal mcdonald is a slick mother fucker. I can't wait to see if he the real deal or not. The one thing about a lot of white fighters is that they over hype them, but he looks like the real deal so its a fight I have been waiting for.

Barao has had been on a tear hasn't lost in a long, long time, so we will see if he keeps it going in the UFC. Both have all aspects of the game covered, but Mcdonald is one of the few 145's that can actually KO you and twist you like a pretzel. I expect Barao to have a slight advantage in the striking and jitz, but expect Mcdonald to have a advantage in the wrestling and possibly cardio. Barao has already mentioned a move to 145 so I'm not sure if he's having weight issues.

Adrian Broner fight now this...I'm going to have my hands full :hellyea:

Good point. Can't go wrong with Saturdays that have both boxing & mma √

Totally agree, man. Both are very young & hungry. Both want to hold that interim strap until Cruz eventually gets back after the long-ass layoff with his knee injury & the initial surgery not taking. Crazy to think by the time Cruz probably returns it'll have been almost 2 years since he last competed. BARAO is a beast. Very highly skilled and great cardio. MCDONALD is unassuming. Very technical and precise striker. Good power. He's a good interview too. Listened to a couple of his interviews the past year, and he's cerebral as fuck for a young cat in his early-20s.

They're doing a good job on the PrimeTime episodes so far, it's almost the same quality as 24/7...

No doubt, Star. Very good work from the production company the past 4 years or so with the Primetime specials (think they started back in 2009 or so, or late-2008). For people who dig boxing's 24/7 ... can't go wrong with Primetime mma-wise. Very good advertising & marketing hype-machine the UFC invests in.

Don't forget the early start times since it's live from England

The prelims start at 12:00pm ET on facebook
The main card starts at 3:00pm ET on FuelTV.;)

Real-time update for the fam'. Just got in a few minutes ago and checked out FB.

The prelims are starting now. It's 9:15am PST / 12:15pm EST. The first fighter walk-outs are happening at the moment while I type this out. Good number of prelim fights. So check them out if you're on, and remember with FB feeds you can pause them or scroll back later on if you're not around this morning / early-afternoon and check them out later on.

good lead-off prelim with HARRIS / GOMEZ.

Next up = Tezuka / Lee. Unfamiliar with Tezuka, but I've seen Lee a few times and he's an exciting fighter.

Appreciate the daytime reminder. Checking out FB prelims now.

Sure thing, bro. It definitely gets tricky with the international appeal of the sport and the various timezones. This past year alone we've seen events in Japan, Australia, Macao, the U.K., and more. I think the prelims for the Japan or Macao card started around 6am PST :D ... we're so used to the N. American cards and the prelims often starting around 4 or 5pm PST / 7 or 8pm EST.

3rd prelim fight coming up soon. Walkouts right now.

Main televised card on now ... 12:15pm PST here (or 3:15pm EST). Enjoy the fights, everyone. Keep an eye out for those co-main events, as we've previously noted.

Swanson / Poirier
Barao / McDonald

should both be fun. Can't go wrong with the lighter weight classes. They pretty much always deliver.

always rooting for Cub to get that title shot again.....I thought Aldo killed him with that knee last time. I remember feeling cheated that night.

I hear you, man. He was decent in the WEC, and has looked great in the UFC with his knockout wins, etc. That fight against Aldo was beast mode status for Jose back in the day. 8 seconds. DONE. That's the fucked up thing about MMA ... too damn unpredictable. I have a tough time EVER wanting to bet big ... because of shit like:

- Aldo / Swanson - 8 seconds
- Jung / Hominick - 7 seconds
- Jimmo / Perrosh - 7 seconds
- Hendricks / Fitch - 12 seconds

Watching the main event.

The weakness I see in most of the Brazilan kickboxers is a strong boxing attack. The problem is very few fighters have the boxing attack and the kickboxing defense to deal with the Nova Uniao figthers.

Props to Barao on the interim defense. The running joke with the sport in recent years being the guys who end up CLAIMING the interim strap don't defend it, and choose to sit out MANY months while they await the regular champ's return :) .

Big ups to the co-mains. All 4 are solid fighters, and good to see Barao and Swanson outclass their opponents who put up good fights and were NOT embarassed out there.

Also gotta say props to CARLY BAKER for reppin' as the ring card girl. Her ass looked better in the red short-shorts than Celeste and Palmer's asses do. Nice little spinner.
