“Joe pointed to the timekeeper and said ‘Time in,’”

fights of the year are sometimes great match making aka all 3 of gatti's FOTY. Look I said he looked awesome. I never said he would lose to Cotto or Antonio, back in the day. I just mention them cause the were ranked in the top ten pound for pound list when he could have fought them. Stop giving Ortiz credit for beating Vivianne Harris and then Berto. Those were not that great of accomplishments. Anyways PBF showed he doesn't have any viable opponents at 147 other than Manny. And they will never fight. Do you really want to see him beat on more guys that don't pose any challenge?

That list includes Pacquiao fam. There's nobody that can beat Floyd right now. And you have a short memory - I used to be Floyd's biggest detractor here on BGOL. But I do know boxing - and I don't see anyone around right now with the skills to deal with Floyd - speed and power are not enough and the talent pool is too thin in boxing right now. But Floyd would have been a great in any era. Undefeated? maybe not.

:bravo:

his skillset is really impressive....

Okay, then...If that's the case, then he should retire right now...Nobody from 140 to 154 can beat Floyd...and Manny does not count as a viable opponent...

And since you say that, then Floyd will never have a fight of the year in your book because he would blow out anybody...

That's what I'm saying... I was saying Manny was Floyd's best comp even before Floyd called him out and truth be told... the only reason Pac is the best comp is because he is the most likely to land a lucky punch with enough power to make it count, but again that is a LUCKY PUNCH.

People don't want to deal with reality, but JMM broke Pac down with counter punching and Manny has only fought one counter puncher since and that was scared-ass Clottey, who was to afraid to throw his hands. I keep hearing about Pac's growth, but you can do more with stationary fighters. Then again you got Shane stiff fighting ass slipping punches and completely getting out of harm's way with Pac. Lets not over look the fact that Pac's biggest victories come from out muscling motherfuckers in brawls and Floyd always neutralizes any attempts at brawling so he can break people down with boxing.

I know the people using their brains can see what I'm say here... if anyone is custom made to destroy Pac, it is Floyd. They will get in the ring and Floyd will create the biggest exodus from boxing when all the Mayweather hatred is solidified in a hope crushing event... round by round we will hear about how small, old and war torn Pac is after years of hyping him up. After the fight, people will act as if they always wanted Floyd to fight Martinez and they knew Pac would lose.

Why should he retire? At least some of my detractors occasionally mention what solution I have to his 147 problem. Move the fuck up!! What great fighter claims to be the best but not take on challenges? I will tell you. Fighters that fans talk about the boxer's talent and not the in ring accomplishments. Floyd wants to be great then he is going to have to do great things and that is fighting people that challenge him. Sergio, Manny, and Cotto. What is difficult to expect more than beating guys who have no chance against him?

I agree with you. I always wanted PBF to move up though. Especially if he doesn't fight manny. And I do think PBF would beat Manny. But at least Manny poses the biggest threat at 147.

You agree with me... you do realize that your argument is that the Ortiz fight is a mismatch while saying Floyd should fight Pac/Martinez, but those fights are mismatches also with the one thing in common... all of them have the only hope of landing a lucky punch. Either way, if Floyd fought Martinez instead of Pac, the argument will be Martinez was old, over hyped because of a weak division, wasn't skilled enough to fight Floyd in the first place and Floyd is still running from Pac... it is never ending the angles that will be taken, but hey that's what you do and still find time to hype bums like Margarito :smh:.

Cause you guys are just gay about PBF. Floyd could have fought Marg and Cotto when they were top ten fighters. But it never happened. But he fights Ortiz and that makes sense to yall. That's funny.

Because we've gone over this ad nauseum, I won't go through it again but he had a chance to Cotto and Marg but Arum fucked it up. The business got in the way of those fights.

You still are. Some people are just critics (some call them "haters"). You have valid reasoning behind your criticisms. They just keep moving the goalposts.

Dude walks around at 150 lbs, where's he going to move up to? Welterweights are coming in at 164 lbs, so how big of a physical mismatch do you want if he were to move up to jr middleweight, especially at 34. He barely qualified when he fought De La Hoya.

If he could move up to fight an oscar that recently lost to bhop. He can move to 154 for sergio. Barely qualifying? He was under the weight limit. So he was fine. I dont remember him coming into the fight at 154.

I like Sergio Martinez, that's my dude. But him droppin to 150 -154 to take on Floyd or Manny is madness. Dude would be draining himself for a paycheck. He's walking around at 3.2% body fat right now, if he drops down in weight, it would be seriously dangerous for him, health wise I mean. I wouldn't do it, especially when Lucian bute is willing to meet me at 165-164.

The only guy at 154 who could give him a decent fight, maybe for a couple of rounds is Cotto. Dude has some boxing skills so maybe he won't look as over-matched as Victor. MAYBE. Because after watching Paul Williams last 2 fights. Floyd would chop him up in the pocket. Sergio would be a GREAT match up but he's just too big and skilled. If Manny or Floyd moved up to a legit 154 weight, I can see Manny being hurt and Floyd having to move around A LOT to get away from Sergio's power.

fam the man is technically a master boxer yes he could move up & fight slow ass Marg or slow battle worn Cotto to prove what...:smh:

the problem is you critics are never satisfied....he fights Ortiz all I hear is crying...if he fought Cotto or Marg do you think he would lose more than 3 rds

he is right now more skilled than those guys...give the man some credit....he beat a bigger younger fighter who game off the fight of the year performance...

still not good enough for you cats...but if Pac fights Ortiz next they talk about his greatness ...the media's hate is disgusting....

C/S

Recently? There was 4 years between those fights and Oscar's last at middleweight.
As I said, barely qualified. He weighed 150 lbs (he said 149) fighting a 160 De La Hoya. Most jr middles fight at the 170 range. So now we're just reaching for guys to beat him any way possible.

Yep. With so many good fights at middleweight that can be made (Bute in Montreal would be huge), why chase after fool's gold?

Yeah I have a funny feeling this will likely occur too. Like Floyd said He'll "never get his just due" muthafuckas will continue to come up with excuses to discredit him no matter how many times he show and proves. "He's damned if he do, and damned if he dont". The hate for the man is ridiculous. I swear man..I hope he completely destroys Pac. And I actually like Pac too,..but I hate the mass of his dick-riding, mayweather-hating, dont-know-shit-about-boxing-casual-ass fans, who swears he's the greatest ever. And alot of them motherfuckers just hate on Floyd cause he's a successful black man, who's very vocal about it and they cant stand to see that. And they pray for the his downfall because of their hate.

I agree. Hell, i am the only dude that doesn't want to see manny and jmm fight again. I think manny has taken more tough fights than most champs in the game right now. But since he is still fighting. i like to see what else dude can do. His biggest hurdle is pbf. But the fight probably never will happen. Even so he is good cause his resume is that much better than most. I dont seem him moving up thought. I think 147 is about as high as he can go. But if he tries 154 one more time. That would be awesome.

I think sergio could beat pbf. He also says he can do 154. to me that is an easy match for pbf to make.

Pbf is hands down considered one of the most talented fighters of all time. How the hell is he not getting his due? Crazy talk. Pbf is a hall of famer. His knock is his resume. Stop assuming people are hating when they speak about dude. I got to laugh at people so call hatin the number 1 draw in boxing ppv that goes out his way to be hated cause he is black.

LOL, what top fighter has had a tough fight in recent years? I mean PBF hasn't had a tough fight since Oscar. Sergio at least fought PWill back when he was pretty good. That's why they all need to find a way to mix it up. Still we all know out of those three who has the better resume. No they need to put a few big wins to close it out.

In recent years, Martinez fought Williams twice and Kelly Pavlik. Bernard Hopkins fought Jean Pascal and will fight Chad Dawson. Andre Dawson is mopping up in the Super Six. All of them have better resumes in recent years than Manny Pacquiao.
And you said "taken more tough fights" not "had", two different things. While he was the favorite, Floyd did fight the top welterweight at the time twice: Shane Mosley and Victor Ortiz, both coming off huge wins. Manny hasn't done that his second Marquez fight when he fought the top lightweight.

Most definitely, in the past couple of years, it's been Sergio who's had one of the toughest schedules in the game. This is why he was named FOTY last year by pretty much everyone, and to tell you the truth, the media is buggin out not having dude #1 over Manny. Like Dave said, apart from Cotto, Pac has had it pretty easy since he moved up in weight. Sergio's been fighting all the top fighters in and around his division, he deserves the number one spot more than Floyd (who's been inactive) and more than Manny (who honestly has been fighting re-treads and looked wack against Mosley).

And was robbed of a straight up KO win over Cintron, and took apart that last dude Dzinziruk or whatever his name is. And that dude was a highly skilled champ as well who Sergio wasn't supposed to look good against, and Serg destroyed him.

Junior lightweight. Manny skated out of 135 after one fight, once Marquez stepped up and took Casamayor apart, his team didn't want Marquez at 135, but they'll take him at 143 - this is not the stuff of champions.

'Preciate it.

143? What the fuck is that?

Serg would be weight drained and....well just think Manny vs Oscar. With Serg making such a drastic drop in weight, I don't see the fight being very competitive, he would be slow and sluggish. The only way that fight is competitive is at 158-160. Floyd re-hydrated to 150 on fight night vs Ortiz. He would have to literally add close to 10 lbs of muscle/fat. I really don't want to see Serg fight Manny or PBF because of these reasons. Manny's too small and would most likely get hurt and Floyd is too small to stand and make it a good fight. Serg has the power to seriously hurt either of them but his quickness and foot speed would be very diminished. Maybe it would even things out but I'm not interested in seeing it anymore. It's nice to fantasize about because I think Serg would ko Manny and he is a serious threat to PBF but it's just not a smart match up for either imo.

On another note, I don't remember seeing an era where the majority of the top fighters in the game are on the "old" side. PBF, Manny, B-Hop, Marquez, Martinez, and both Klitschko brothers....As a matter of fact, the only guys in the top ten p4p in their twenties are Ward, Donaire and Tim Bradley - who incidentally should be bumped off the list for turning down the unification fight with Khan.

I know. It is a sad day for boxing fans.

You damn right "Fo-Head" should be off that list...Khan should replace him...or Lucian Bute...

The older guys are holding on. Mayweather and Hopkins have been able to be successful by staying in shape yearround and not taking a lot of punishment (relatively). Martinez is a great athlete himself and didn't come on until late. The Klitschkos are just too big and, at this point, too skilled for the entire heavyweight division. So I don't have a problem with the top guys all being on the older side since they're all there by being smart with their careers and there are beating younger guys.
