Netflix has removed Dave Chappelle’s comedy sketch series “Chappelle’s Show” after the comedian requested them to do so.

Chappelle revealed the news in a lengthy Instagram video called “Unforgiven,” which featured footage from a recent stand-up gig. During the performance, Chappelle claimed he “never got paid” after leaving the ViacomCBS-owned show.

“They (ViacomCBS) didn’t have to pay me because I signed the contract,” Chappelle said in the video. “But is that right? I found out that these people were streaming my work and they never had to ask me or they never have to tell me. Perfectly legal ‘cause I signed the contract. But is that right? I didn’t think so either. That’s why I like working for Netflix. I like working for Netflix because when all those bad things happened to me, that company didn’t even exist. And when I found out they were streaming ‘Chappelle’s Show,’ I was furious. How could they not– how could they not know? So you know what I did? I called them and I told them that this makes me feel bad. And you want to know what they did? They agreed that they would take it off their platform just so I could feel better.”

An ABC Executive asked Shonda Rhimes "don't you have enough?!"

Because she asked for a 6th VIP pass to Disneyland....they already gave her 5, but apparently another family member was coming so she asked for the 6th.....

"We don't normally do this at all and now you want another 1?!"

Is I believe another direct quote as told by her......

All the ratings and $$$$ she's brought them....and a VIP pass to Disneyland is the straw that breaks the camels back?

Thats why she signed on to Netflix.....

When they value your worth....they show it

I’m surprise Netflix just didn’t cut him a check so that every1 wins
It wouldn't be a win for Netflix since they already cut a check to Viacom, who legally owns the rights to the show.
Cutting a check to Dave would not have gotten them the rights to air the show.
Pretty stand up thing for Netflix to remove the show because legally they didn't have to.

I think they could've cut Dave a check they got it but I don't know if it was worth it to them to pay all of that. Viacom lowdown this the shit they was gonna pull with Wild N Out too.

This is really on Viacom to come together with Dave and work out a new agreement that makes everyone happy.
If the deal he got with Viacom is as bad as he says it is, he could argue that the original agreement is unconscionable and have it thrown out.
But it seems like Viacom is on some Suge Knight Death Row Records type shit.

"I got my name back": Dave Chappelle announces return of his comedy show to Netflix

"Chappelle's Show" will be returning to Netflix, according to the comedian. In a 10-minute video posted to Instagram late Wednesday, Dave Chappelle announced that his flagship show will rejoin the streaming service on Friday.

"I asked you to stop watching the show and thank God almighty for you, you did. You made that show worthless because without your eyes, it's nothing," Chappelle told the audience. "And when you stopped watching it, they called me. And I got my name back and I got my license back and I got my show back and they paid me millions of dollars. Thank you very much."

"Chappelle's Show" was removed from Netflix last November, less than a month after its debut. Chappelle made the request after allegedly being unable to receive royalties for the show based on a contract he signed with Comedy Central and its parent company, ViacomCBS. He also claimed the show had been licensed without his consent.

Chappelle opened the video, which shows him performing a standup set, discussing how he caught COVID-19 last year. The comedian blamed an eagerness to perform for catching the virus.

"I did because in the beginning of the pandemic, I talked to a guy in the live entertainment business and I said, 'When can we go back to work?' He said probably some time in 2022," Chappelle said. "And I said, 'There's no f***ing way I can wait that long.'"

The announcement video was recorded at Stubb's Waller Creek in Austin, Texas, the venue that Chappelle was slated to perform at before catching COVID-19.

He also touched on the Capitol riots. "Watch that crowd that told Colin Kaepernick he can't kneel during a football game try to beat a police officer to death with an American flag. ... They carried a Confederate flag through the rotunda. The Confederate army didn't even do that," Chappelle said.

The video ends with a montage of clips from "Chappelle's Show."

"Cheers to you forever. I'm riding with you until the wheels fall off," Chappelle tells the audience to close out his set.

With CBSViacom trying to get into the streaming wars by rebranding CBS All Access to Paramount+ they had no choice to work things out with Dave and Nick...

they need that content with out the negative backlash...

that was some bullshit dave pulled. He signed the contract, and now he made because the public enjoyed the hell out of it. What if dave wants to get paid for half baked (again). if it started to blow p again where will it stop? Truth be told, the DC Show was and is his best work, so he knows he will never touch that sky like that again. fuck chappelle, he just a cry baby. If you paid someone to do a job and you kept your end of the bargain, then why should you feel bad after the fact that you got a better benefit than you bargained for?
