Official lakers vs mavs thread!!!!!!!

wait.. what  Fish has zero chance of ever getting on a ballot... and you said first ballot... pass that shit homie

Hey homie I'm just trying to give the hundreds of Laker fans on here something positive to think about while they cry themselves to sleep later tonight

damn man... you werent playing when you said you really dont like basketball...that you really only watched Kobe.... i thought you were bullshitting when you said you had only seen D. Rose play last month....

Oh.

Ha.

Well, I started out liking Kobe because he was flashy, and possessed a very high level of skill. Eventually, I become obsessed with extreme performers and performances, because I wanted to study those performers and how they approach what they do mentally. Kobe, while very iconoclastic, did do things in his career that a very short list of individuals have been able to accomplish.

I was always intrigued by Wilt Chamberlin's ridiculous statistical accomplishments, and wanted to see a guard come along and equal or exceed his numbers. That's why I say I'm not a purist. Kobe is overrated, yes - but some of his streaks and individual game performances - and there are more than most realize - that were very much like Wilt's. However, Kobe could only 'be Wilt' for a few games at the time, and I accepted that...

...but I'm looking for an athlete who can provide those outrageous scoring performances on a regular basis. They don't even have to be a basketball player.

I set extremely high goals for myself, and I look to study other individuals who achieve what people believe to be improbable or impossible, and apply what's applicable to what I do.

That's frankly all I really care about. Kobe is well beyond that point in his career, and frankly, championships mean jack shit to me because I only hold them in high regard when I'm debating other people.

Give me someone who can average 43ppg like Pistol Pete did in college, or even 37.1 like Jordan did in his second full season for the Bulls ...

...THAT'S the kind of shit that will bring me back to basketball. Other than that...

Maybe tennis or golf or racing would be good for you. All individual sports. If an individual is the only thing that makes you interested in a team game..... you missing the whole point of the game.

wow can never knock someone for how they get down but I got into basketball cause my old man played it and my family is a basketball family. I played point for as long as I did. Jason Kidd was and is my all time favorite.

(why you see me get on here and diss PG's who don't pass first.)

anyway Kidd left my nets and I still root for them.

Basketball is bigger than one person and you are selling yourself short if you are only watching it for one person.

Even when my NETS suck I can still enjoy how the Thunder put their team together.

Greg Monroe who didn't get as much attention as favors and Cousins but showed in the second half he will be a problem

2nd round picks proving everyone who passed them up wrong (Marcus Thorton)

basketball is bigger than bryant

mavs thread!!!!!!!

How does Kobe stack up to MJ now? It was fucking foolish to even think dude was better than MJ....:smh::smh::smh:

dude is one notch below MJ.

i'm loving these hate comments, niggas don't want to admit it but the more kobe plays, the more he is getting closer to jordan and one day which is soon he will be better than him...even though he is right now

you people who act like comparing Kobe to Jordan is ridiculous need to step into reality. Kobe is right there and it is conceivable at the moment he could grab 7 titles. He's done things Jordan never did/could.

The kid Kobe is right there. Comparison is legit as fuck.

kb24,,,,THAT NIGGAS ON THE SAME LEVEL AS JORDAN OR BETTER. when i say that comment dnt start posting jordan stats or rings, im talkn skill wise

:smh: wtf...........did they even show up?

But heads makin' it seem like this was some tete a tete, where BOTH teams brought their Hearts, experience, and skills to the floor. With the Mavs coming out as victors of a hard fought battle.

THIS SHIT WAS JUST FUCKIN' BIZARRE. It was a spectacle. The Lakers NEVER appeared, and the Mavs didn't look the gift horse in the mouth. They ran 'em, and never looked back.

Honestly, a win is a win, especially in the playoffs. But TRUE competitors never really appreciate an easy win. AND THAT'S IN ANY GAME.

Yeah, but I started following Kobe before I became interested in the extreme individual accomplishments. I was once a high school basketball player who had dreams of going pro. I started following Kobe around age 16, and got into the extreme performers/performances around age 22. By that time, I was six years in, and all my friends watched basketball, so it was the thing to do.

I want to recant and say I do care about championships, but mainly because I also got swept up in the whole 'Kobe catching Jordan in rings' thing like so many other people. However, my interest lie mostly in the things I mentioned before.

People can say all they want to about the lakers not being prepared, but the fact is the mavs just whipped their ass plain and simple. The talk of who's better Pau or Dirk is now over and i expect bynum and dwight howard to exchange jerseys next season.

bynum was the bright spot for the team during the playoffs..

You are out of your fucking mind if you even put Wade in the convo.. Dude had what like 10 good games and u wanna say hes closer to Mike than Kobe.. Get off the Wade Crack Rock please.. Wade cant even stay healthy enough to hold Kobe's Jock.. Kobe has been killin the playoffs for years.. 3 rings..

I know whats next.. Shaq played with Kobe.. Well Wade had Shaq also.. and look where that got him now. at home doin hella Tmobile Commercials and Kobe is shitting on the league..

I don't like kobe.
That nicca game is bar none tho.
He is,skill set wise, better than jordan.
Better handle, almost as good defense, better shooter, equal or better passer.

Jordan was the Goat before Kobe IMO. But it's a new era. Like you've said and I've been saying, his skill set is better. Not his resume.

I just haven't seen a better player.

Look at the facts, If Kobe wins a Championship this year, he is hands down, on Jordan level, if not better, Jordan never had double team, Kobe seen it all his career and teams still can"t stop him

For the people who say it's a team game, and it's bigger than Kobe - that may very well be true, but dominating one player isn't half as impressive as one individual overcoming the combined effort of a team. When Kobe scored that 62 points in 33 minutes against Dallas, when he was pulled out of the game the score was Kobe: 62, Dallas: 61.

Sure, it wasn't a full game, but that was 33 minutes of play where a single player was able to outscore an entire team, who had a great scorer on their squad. THAT'S THE KIND OF SHIT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

But, Kobe was never able to do that again.

I created this thread awhile back, but dudes clowned ----> http://www.bgol.us/board/showthread.php?t=530202 I asked why aren't there any extreme individual performers out in the big three sports in the US. Everyone said 'defense' like defense isn't always present. You don't think Dallas tried to stop Kobe from scoring 62 points on them? Of course they did, but he was able to get it done, anyway.

Hell, Barry Sanders was able to rush for 2,000 one season, and I'm sure no one is going to sit here and tell me that defenses ALLOWED that shit. Well, if Barry could rush for 2,000...what makes that the LIMIT? It isn't, and it shouldn't be...

...but it often takes someone even thinking on that level, before those types of things can be accomplished. Why not 2500 yards? Why not 3000?

It used to be considered impossible to run a mile in four minutes, but someone believed they could, and they did. Nowadays, that is hardly considered impossible. Once again, the ability along with the belief motivated someone to attempt it, and they blasted through the door of impossibility, and now that shit is considered normal.

So, yeah...

I need the dude who possess the talent, the work ethic, and the confidence to do things that other people never felt possible. Doing it in a team game, while not the purpose of team sports, is more enjoyable, and DEFINITELY wouldn't hurt ratings. Shit, the night Kobe scored 81, Sportscenter started there show with Lakers versus Raptors...

...and it was SUPER BOWL NIGHT!!!

Kid is having revelations and shit. Don't feel bad a whole nation fell for the hype.

Re: mavs thread!!!!!!!

Kobe is Iversonian

hey, we can have this discussion with a modicum of respect. no need for nasty namecalling. allen iverson hasn't done anything to you or yours.

funny how allen iverson became the villain for missing a handful of practices.

but other players can practice only a handful of times in an entire season and not a peep is forthcoming.

That was Scoops Callahan, a character created from a producer, Tom Dribble from Dallas' 1310 The Ticket.

That "Champ,Champ" is fucking hilarious

There should have never been talk...Dirk mollywopped Pau in 2006. The Lakers had no answers for what we were doing & they didn't have any fight. You have Shannon Brown marrying Monica staying on the scene, you got LO on reality tv, Matt Barnes on reality tv...these dudes priority aint in order. If NOLA had West they might've had the fight to win the last series, but they let Dirk be Dirk, Jet be Jet, Peja be Peja...just can't win with those guys on their A game.

Ya Know....

Especially when Larry Brown was trying to throw him under the bus for the series loss.
