Most players shoot mainly jumpers at the end of their careers.
You really dont think Kobe defaults way too much to shooting over the top of the defense. Kobe has some of the best footwork ive ever seen... when he sometimes makes the consistent effort to get in the post and play with his back to the basket or drive and pull up with the mid-range shot or drive and get fouls..he is a much more effective player.
he has slowed down...but not that much...he can still get into the lane...
i do get what you mean as far as the lakers have other post players and not great shooters...which effects spacing..
but it bothers me to see a player making things more difficult on himself..
just watching westbrook jack up three pointers when he cant get into the lane.. or Josh smith have all the tools to score in the post but default to jumpshooting..
