Official lakers vs mavs thread!!!!!!!

Most players shoot mainly jumpers at the end of their careers.

You really dont think Kobe defaults way too much to shooting over the top of the defense. Kobe has some of the best footwork ive ever seen... when he sometimes makes the consistent effort to get in the post and play with his back to the basket or drive and pull up with the mid-range shot or drive and get fouls..he is a much more effective player.

he has slowed down...but not that much...he can still get into the lane...

i do get what you mean as far as the lakers have other post players and not great shooters...which effects spacing..

but it bothers me to see a player making things more difficult on himself..

just watching westbrook jack up three pointers when he cant get into the lane.. or Josh smith have all the tools to score in the post but default to jumpshooting..

Don't agree.

JKidd knows what he needs to do, and he does it. In the close games this series, Jkidd locked Kobe down in the fourth. straight up.

Kidd's game hasn't always been about stats as it has been about touches. when kidd touches the ball, good things happen for his team. Kidd makes his teamates better with his basketball IQ.

These playoffs have exposed Russel Westbrooks lack of understanding of the game. Kidd fares better than Chris Paul. A Kidd/Rose matchup could bend towards experience.

That's the legacy of the Kobe "era"...

jack shots and make headlines...

steals, assists, and rebounding are underrated.

Look at what WestBrook is doing in OKC and it's obvious.

Wow. Swept. It's going to be an interesting off season for the Lakers. May take years to recover. Lakers have to eat Gasol's contract like the Pacers ate Dunleavy Jr.'s.

Come on man... exactly..The Mavs had the type of team that could exploit the weaknesses of the Lakers defense.... but man... how could anyone not see the lack of EFFORT.

This team didnt play with desperation. They definitely didnt even extend the full effort to defend the perimeter.

The Mavs just werent hot.. they had a lot of wide open shots where they could square up and release with zero pressure on them..and on many of the shots...i saw lakers backcourt players just floating outside of the point and not rotating to challenge shots.

The game is mental. Laker's lost this game with their minds. I blame Phil.

Not making the effort to rotate is admitting in getting beat in the first place. Don't get beat, then there is no need to rotate and fuck up the defensive communications.

It's not called Man to Man rotating Defense, it's called Man to Man, just keep it at that and avoid all the rotations.

Oh..that is problem number one. I already stated that all this season. I already said they should be staying with their man and denying them the ball in the first place.

This is one of the major criticisms Ive had of Wade when playing the Celtics..he sleeps and lets Allen beat him off the ball.

However, effective TEAM defense depends on players helping and rotating..no way to get around it...

mavs thread!!!!!!!

he has slowed down...but not that much...he can still get into the lane.

batty boys can't make up their minds.

said he was just fine during the hornets series with the dunk play against emeka okafor.

but all of a sudden he got old.

how convenient.

if i hadn't aired out that hoax about his ankle, you'd still have dudes claiming he was injured.

:smh:

They don't hear you E

Kobe could just as well play the 3-4....

but thats dirty work.....rebounding and assists are for the scrubs.

I admire Kobe's efforts and improvements over the years, but he never was founded in how the game is supposed to be played. He was founded in becoming a superstar with the individual moves. I think Kobe's best play ever was tossing a lob to Shaq in the playoffs after the defense tried to rotate to him after he beat his defender.

Oh I agree.. this team shows spurts of brilliance.. the early start was suspect because of their schedule.. but their play after the all star break... with that road schedule and against good teams where they came out like 23-1...showed this team what this team had the capabilities to do when they played good ball... and it wasnt just them dropping the triangle... the lakers have faltered this season when they stopped playing good perimeter defense...the root of all their problems.... this team was too good to get swept.

Glad you revisited this....

After the Heat-76er's series Coach Collins was asked why he hugged Brad for so long....

He stated that Brand had been playing most of the season with a broken hand and never complained.

Looking at what Rondo did last night and it puts the Kobe BS into perspective.

Kobe does make the game more difficult than it needs to be at times :dunno:

That's why I said his game needs to evolve and he needs to be more of a play maker.

The game is mental. Laker's lost this game with their minds. I blame Phil.

So they used telepathy to put the ball in the basket?

Do you know how tall Kobe is :hmm:

He's not old?

Did you last in the league for 15 years?

Fisher was like one for seven or eight

Yes they do!!! Just like archers and dart throwers. See it and hit it. Aim is in the mind. Call it telepathy if you want it makes no difference.

jason terry said in his post game today that a couple of the shots he didn't even see the rim.

Kobe has A LOT of games on this legs... alot.

I thought he looked slower earlier in the season but the second half of the season(after he had his knee drained), he looked physically fine. I dont think his physical condition had anything to do with his play. He didnt looked winded or drastically slower this post-season.

They didnt really looked TIRED as a team physically...but just mentally...they didnt have it man...it started as soon as the spurs wrapped up the west... they just stopped playing and couldnt turn it back on.

I agree with this

he shot the ball like shit tonight. I was talking about the series. He didnt shoot particular well over the series...but it wasnt like his man was taking him out to the shack and driving at will defensively... he definitely didnt play great ball at all over the course of the series... but i was talking about defensively..i dont think the bleeding was because of great PG play by the Mavs where the PG was just getting into the lane at will.. the mavs just had incredible ball movement and also caught the lakers cheating and late to rotate..( and the mavs have to get credit for just hitting the shots as well)

Only shooters, or should I say "goal getters" understand why this works. Kyle Korver and Kevin Durrant prolly share the same sentiments over and over.

Fisher got an ugly shot, always has. If only all lefties were like Chris Mullin.

i know exactly what he's talking about, because i used to practice without my contacts in.

I agree with Chuck, they just kicked our ass.

Dude it happens.....

it's just a sweep is embarrassing.

Look at The Heat in 2007...

The Bulls kicked our asses....

I didn't even watch game 4...

(side note..ever one is Rose happy NOW but it's Deng that is the Pippen of that team. In 2007 he KILLED the Heat)

When they were going to win in 2009 and 2009 I figured the Lakers would win. and I said it..

This year I just saw things falling apart.

I WOULD NEVER GOT SWEPT OR BE DOWN 0-3..

Dude it happens.....

My pistons got swept out after winning back to back titles... Bulls ran through us... but it was ECF and we put a better fight than this... plus...expansion caused us to lose players from the title team.... this shit here by the lakers was inexcusable...
